With cameras set to start rolling in less than a month, it’s no surprise that we’re beginning to hear of more locations getting the confirmation that they’ll feature in the sequel to 2015’s Jurassic World. A few days ago a Spanish website confirmed that Brecon Beacons in Wales was a location, and we already know that the islands of Hawaii will be utilised for filming, along with Pinewood Studios in London.

But now we’re hearing that another location in London – outside of Pinewood Studios – is apparently being eyed by location managers for the sequel. Dijeirusan reported on Facebook that the area of Pinner, Harrow in North West London has been scouted by location managers.

“I had Harrow Council Planning Department visit my house, to approve my new extension. They saw my Jurassic Park collection, and said the filmmakers were scouting Pinner (an area in Harrow) for filming”

He went on to say that they didn’t have any other information to offer other than that. The area of Pinner is described as a wealthy area of the London Borough of Harrow in northwest London.

Without any further information we have to take news like this with a pinch of salt – and it’s unclear in exactly what capacity the area of Pinner might be used. Due to its relatively short distance to Pinewood Studios, it’s a logical location for the production, and it may even be that they’re only shooting an interior location here, which could stand in for anywhere in the world. This in no way confirms that the actual city of London will feature in the sequel – but at this point, it could.

Either way, this little rumour is reminiscent of the days before social media, when internet message boards and word of mouth were the main source for film news. Council Workers liking the look of someone’s Jurassic Park collection and handing out some information sounds like it was pulled straight out of 2002! Huge thanks to Dijeirusan for sharing!

With Jurassic World set to begin filming next month at Pinewood Studios in London and later heading to Hawaii to film on location, we often wonder if there are any other filming locations on the list.

In July of last year we heard that Wales was being considered for the sequel and assumed that the Pinewood Studios situated there was being eyed for studio use. However, the following week we heard that the production team had actually expressed interest in the lush countryside of Brecon Beacons.

While it was never fully confirmed that this location was on the agenda, and as time went on we began to hear less about it, we now have received some form of confirmation that Jurassic World 2 will utilize this landscape.

Director J.A. Bayona was recently interviewed with a Spanish magazine about his latest movie, A Monster Calls. While he couldn’t speak in detail about Jurassic World 2 with ‘magazinedigital‘, he did confirm that the upcoming sequel will indeed film in Brecon Beacons, Wales.

It is unclear at this point in time how the location will be used, as it’s possible that these valley landscapes seen above may stand in for a location on the islands, but with filming set to take place in Hawaii this seems unlikely. Will dinosaurs have reached the mainland in some form? Did Masrani have another facility here?

The Jurassic Park franchise has never been known for cameos and bit parts for celebrities, but that may be changing with the latest casting rumour. We Got This Covered is reporting that world famous DJ Dimitri Vegas has landed a role in the sequel.

Yesterday, the DJ tweeted a photo of himself with producer Frank Marshall with the caption: “Meeting with one of my heroes today @LeDoctor #JurassicWorld”

Frank Marshall later retweeted the photo with his own caption: “DJ Master Frank meets with one of his heroes. Who knows where this will lead?”

While the tweets don’t mention casting, the website’s source revealed that Vegas and Marshall did indeed meet to discuss a role in the sequel. With this information in mind, it’s interesting to note #JurassicWorld and “Who knows where this will lead?” in their tweets.

The photo itself also appears to be taken in the Kennedy/Marshall offices; the photographs behind the pair can be found on the Kennedy/Marshall website.

According to the article, Dimitri Vegas (real name Dimitri Thivaios), has recently signed with CAA and is hoping to break into the industry as an actor. Their source claims that he wouldn’t have a large role in the sequel, and without any acting experience under his belt that’s probably a safe option. However, judging by the positive messages both he and Frank Marshall tweeted, it’s likely the meeting went well.

Could Dimitri Vegas be joining Daniella Pineda, Justice Smith, Toby Jones, and Rafe Spall as newcomers to the Jurassic franchise? While we have no official confirmation, with everything considered above it certainly seems likely.

Oh, and Dimitri also picked up Chronicle Collectibles The Lost World: Jurassic Park T-Rex bust, and there’s a Jurassic Park sequence in one of his music videos (skip to 00:55):

It’s always fun waking up to news, and with the Jurassic World sequel’s production offices now based in London, there’s a stronger chance that I’ll actually catch the news as it’s shared.

News on the sequel has been quiet with only some casting information dripping out, but now director J.A. Bayona has shared his first photo for the sequel – which shows some scratched/dirty Jurassic World worker hardhats!

The image is captioned: “Getting ready for the journey.” and the image itself indicates that the production team are finalizing the props for the film, which begins shooting next month.

The hardhats are not from Jurassic Park but we know from reference images that they are the same as the ones that the Paddock Supervisors wear, mostly seen around the Indominus Rex paddock.

    

The difference in the photo Bayona shared is that they have the full colour logo instead of the stencil logo. The full colour logo is seen on the white hardhat in Jurassic World that Zach and Gray find in the jungle. It is also found on the Masrani Global website.

    

Our friends at Reel News Hawaii have also weighed in, suggesting that the hats could also be the orange Jurassic World construction hats that were used while the park was built!

With cameras set to start rolling this March and with casting well underway, the sequel to Jurassic World is squaring up to be a monster hit, with director J.A. Bayona taking the helm and bringing on his cinematographer to help bring the movie to life.

As many expected, the period leading up to filming would be a quiet one, with only tidbits of information being released. Those working on the movie have their lips sealed shut, but returning actress Bryce Dallas Howard has expressed her excitement for the filming and for bringing her character, Claire Dearing, back in the sequel.

In an new interview with JoBlo, Bryce shared a little about her character’s transformation:

That’s part of the story, that’s part of the journey. She definitely went through a lot and is permanently changed because of that. But she is also who she is. Chris [Pratt] and I are already having a lot of fun with that. We’re in that stage right now of figuring out the backstory and talking through all those beats, like everything that happened in between. That’s always such a fun time. You’re like, ‘No, she did that?! No way, he couldn’t have!’ It’s really, really fun, and then you step into the present moment and it becomes alive.

While this – for the most part – is nothing new, it’s refreshing to learn that both actors are taking the time to truly figure out their character’s backstory, and share with one another just what Claire and Owen have been up to, post Jurassic World.

The Hollywood Reporter and Spanish website El Pais have both reported that director of the upcoming sequel J.A. Bayona is currently on the island of Oahu, Hawaii, scouting for locations for Jurassic World 2. El Pais stated: “Bayona is in Hawaii preparing the second part of Jurassic World.”

This correlates somewhat with our report last August where we revealed that the location scouting will take place in November. Our friends at Reel News Hawaii have also heard that location scouts for the sequel are currently on island.

Deep in pre-production on Jurassic World 2, Bayona is also making the press circuits for his latest movie, A Monster Calls. Speaking with Birth.Movies.Death., the director revealed that Claire will not be wearing her infamous heels this time around, instead she’ll be wearing some form of boot, much more suited to the environment. He also revealed that there will be new dinosaurs in the film:

“Claire doesn’t wear high heels in this movie,” Bayona promises. That will make it easier for her to flee its prehistoric menagerie, which will have some additions. “There will be new dinosaurs,” the director says, and then adds, “Finding that proper balance between what the audience is expecting and new stuff is always a challenge in doing a sequel.”

While mentioning how this is the largest and most complex movie he has worked on, he discusses his love for the original and why he’s excited to be directing an instalment:

“I remember the first time I saw that first Brachiosaurus, and the huge impact it had on me,” he says. “I have always been a huge fan of Steven Spielberg, and I never thought I would end up doing a Jurassic movie. So it’s very exciting and a privilege to work with Steven, Frank Marshall and the other producers.”

In another interview with ComingSoon.net, Bayona was asked about the underlying political themes that the Jurassic Park movies have, and if the sequel will feature similar themes:

“Yeah, you’re right,” Bayona told us. “I think there’s a lot of that in the new ‘Jurassic.’ I think there’s a lot of possessiveness towards our creations. I think it’s very interesting where the new movie is heading. It’s so different from the other films, it talks a lot about the moment we live in right now. It’s darker… but at the same time it’s going to be a lot of fun. It’s a blockbuster, you have Chris Pratt, it’s a great adventure, but it’s very interesting the way the film is darker than the other ones.”

He also spoke with them about why he was offered the sequel and how it will relate to his previous films:

“You need to adapt, you need to know where you are,” suggested Bayona. “‘Jurassic’ is going to be very different from ‘A Monster Calls’ or ‘The Orphanage,’ but they called me because they loved ‘The Orphanage’ and ‘The Impossible’ and they wanted me to be leading the new ‘Jurassic.’ I think you’re going to find some stuff that will remind you of my movies. At the same time I’m very aware that this is Steven’s baby and I’m going to take care of his baby as much as possible, knowing where I am all the time.”

I am excited to hear that the sequel will be darker and hopefully it will feel more in line with the style of The Lost World. With Bayona’s background in horror and drama, I hope the sequel will feel less safe and less secured than Jurassic World, and the terror that is present in the first three movies will return.

In related news, Chris recently found two new domain names registered by Universal Pictures: IslaNublarRescueMission.com and AllCreaturesHaveRights.com. Obviously the domains lead nowhere, but it hints at what may feature in the sequel. 

With scouting now taking place in Hawaii, Universal registering domain names, and auditions taking place, Jurassic World 2 is in full pre-production and will be filming in February/March of 2017.
