Jurassic World’s Hybrids Roar into the Legacy Collection in New Beyond The Gates!

The Super Colossal Indoraptor & Camouflage Indominus Rex are joining the Legacy Collection in this month’s episode of collector show Jurassic World: Beyond The Gates!

Mattel’s Chandra Hicks returns to the show to unveil these two monstrous collectibles, and we hear from Glen McIntosh, a key artist and animator who helped bring the Indominus Rex to life in the Jurassic World films!

New Jurassic Park 30th Anniversary Funko Pops Debut on Beyond The Gates

Last month Beyond The Gates returned and began the celebrations for the 30th Anniversary! This month, Funko take the reins from Mattel and introduce us to three new Jurassic Park items.

Joining us in this episode is Funko’s Kayla Mogensen and NBCUniversal’s Gabe DeGuzman, who run us through the creation of the Funko Moments and share insight into the full design process, from Funko to Universal and back!

Revisit Isla Sorna in Fan-Made Trespasser VR for Quest 2

If the filmmakers won’t revisit Isla Sorna, then the fans will!

The Lost World’s Legendary video game Trespasser has had a breath of new life with a new fan project, Trespasser VR. Originally a remake (Trespassing Petrolia) the developer recently turned his efforts towards virtual reality, and has now unveiled a soft “demo” of the game so far.

Trespasser VR runs on the Quest 2 headset and the developer states:

“…this is a very simplistic version for the Quest 2 and Iā€™m intentionally sticking as close to the source material as I can, with little improvements and fixes where needed. The detail is low, the textures are low res, itā€™s basic, itā€™s supposed to be. A lot of people wanted a more traditional looking version for VR and a lot of people wanted a version they could play on the Quest 2. This is it. I will be building upon this version for the PCVR version, as there are optimisations done for this version that I had planned to do for the PCVR version, but would have been a huge amount of work.”

Despite the release in 1998 being panned by critics for being released in an unfinished state, the game holds a special place in many fan’s hearts and has a great community over at Trescom!

Fans of Trespasser should also check out Derrick’s work over at Jurassic Time, which explores the fascinating John Parker Hammond narration that guides you across the island, and reveals recordings omitted from the original game.

Derrick also recently interviewed the creator of the game, Seamus Blackley – this one’s not one to miss!

Beyond The Gates Returns and Unveils Mattel’s ’93 Classic Jurassic Park Collection!

Beyond The Gates is BACK and to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Jurassic Park, 2023’s debut episode of the show unveils Mattel’s exciting new line that takes inspiration from fan-favorite toys of the 90s.

Paul Kirby and Soyona Santos Join ‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’

Jurassic World Dominion’s Dichen Lachman has joined the cast of the upcoming Apes sequel which is currently filming in Australia.

The cast already stars Jurassic Park 3’s leading man Paul Kirby (William H. Macy), and the current line of Apes films are written by Jurassic World writers Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver. The two are returning to write Kingdom, alongside Josh Friedman and Patrick Aison.

While of course not playing their Jurassic characters it’s always great to see these actors on screen once again. The recent Apes movies are often times tonally very in-line with the Jurassic franchise.

Colin Trevorrow’s Next Movie ‘Atlantis’ Takes off at Skydance

Fresh off of Jurassic World Dominion, director Colin Trevorrow’s next project has found its home at Skydance. While little is known about the project, it had previously been in development at Universal Pictures.

According to THR, the project was “returned to Trevorrow in turnaround, and Skydance seized the opportunity to acquire the feature.” Colin had originally been writing Atlantis, with a follow-up draft of the script being penned by Dante Harper. Atlantis will now be written by Charmaine DeGratĆ©, the writer and co-executive producer on House of the Dragon.

The mysteries of Atlantis are certainly exciting to explore, and we’re hoping Colin is able to return to his roots a little with this project. We’re excited to see this one take off!

‘Generation Jurassic’ Event Lookback – A Beyond The Gates Special Episode

It has been a fantastic year for Jurassic World collectors and in this year’s final episode of Beyond The Gates, Chris takes a look back at the Generation Jurassic event, held earlier this year at Universal Studios Hollywood!

Chris was joined on stage by Mattel’s Rafael Bencosme, Funko’s Ashley Anderson, and NBCUniversal’s Erick Solorzano! Not to mention a very special guest from Jurassic World Dominion… DeWanda Wise!

Jurassic World Dominion Makes Oscars Shortlist for Visual Effects

Shortlists for multiple categories for the 2023 Oscars were announced today, revealing a list of eligible contenders including Jurassic World Dominion, which has landed a position in the Visual Effects category.

Now, the entire Oscar voting body will vote to choose the winners from these lists. The films that made the Visual Effects shortlist are as follows:

ā€œAvatar: The Way of Waterā€
ā€œThe Batmanā€
ā€œBlack Panther: Wakanda Foreverā€
