NEW Details from the Cancelled ‘Jurassic World Survivor’ Video Game from Splash Damage

At long last we have some new details on the now cancelled Jurassic World video game, Jurassic World Survivor. We last heard about the video game in 2017 when a screenshot from a build of the game was leaked, showcasing Jurassic Park style Velociraptors.

We have now uncovered some new details about the game – after Cryptic Studios Seattle branch closed the game was passed to Splash Damage Games and saw an overhaul of its concept as development continued. The game would have launched on PC and consoles, focusing on custom character survivors left behind on Isla Nublar, post the Jurassic World incident.

Gameplay revolved around the struggle to survive and eventually find rescue alongside all your favorite Jurassic Park dinosaurs, poachers, BioSyn, and more! We published this information in a new video which you can see below, which includes details about the game’s story and includes lines straight from the script:

Jurassic World Survivor was going to take place roughly 1-2 months after the events of Jurassic World. A category 5 storm has further destroyed the island’s infrastructure, leaving the park in ruins with the dinosaurs roaming free. With the island in disarray, rival corporations use this opportunity to send in their teams to steal secrets and silence any potential witnesses.

In the game, you would play as stranded civilians – the ultimate goal being to find a way to escape the island while facing various threats along the way. You would take on the role as civilians who crash landed on the island during the storm, and you would have the ability to create your own survivor and continue to customize them overtime with items you find on the island.

Signage and visitor maps around the abandoned park would be faded, overwritten by notes from survivors and evacuation teams sent out by InGen and other parties. Dinosaur skeletons would litter the various areas, having been picked apart by the various scavengers.

The power would not be online – tasks potentially would have included rebooting the geothermal power station, which in itself would be a very difficult task. The monorail would also play a role in this game – players could potentially restore emergency power to individual monorail sections allowing faster travel between the various island sectors.

Buildings would litter the island and would contain resources for the player, such as InGen Survival Shelters, Jurassic World park buildings like store rooms, utility sheds, warehouses and garages.

Along with the threat of dinosaurs, different factions visiting the island could also pose a threat to the player – these would include InGen Rescue Teams, BioSyn Operatives, and Eco Terrorists, to name a few.

There is a lot more information included in the video, be sure to check that out and let us know what you think of the cancelled game.

Hopefully something similar can see the light of day soon enough!

The MonsterVerse Continues in New TV Series: ‘Monarch: Legacy of Monsters’

The trailer for an upcoming television series based on the Godzilla property and “the sixth installment and the second television series in the MonsterVerse franchise” has arrived.

The plot: Following the epic battle between Godzilla and the MUTOs that leveled San Francisco and the shocking revelation that monsters are real, two siblings, following in their father’s footsteps, uncover their family’s connection to the secretive organization known as Monarch. Clues lead them into the world of monsters and ultimately down the rabbit hole to Army officer Lee Shaw, taking place in the 1950s and half a century later where Monarch is threatened by what Shaw knows. The dramatic saga – spanning three generations – reveals buried secrets and the ways that epic, earth-shattering events can reverberate through our lives.

Featuring a great cast, this looks like a lot of fun, and a great way to expand the Godzilla universe.

What would you want to see in a Jurassic series?

Yet ANOTHER Lego Jurassic Show is Coming… Why?

While you would think that NBCUniversal’s streaming platform Peacock would be the perfect place for a live-action Jurassic World series, the executives in charge of programming would seemingly disagree. Today, Peacock announced that an animated special 65 million bricks in the making is coming soon to the platform.

“The Unofficial Retelling”, whatever that means, is yet another piece of Lego Jurassic World media that very few are asking for and begs the question: why?

The Jurassic World era has ushered in a wealth of tie-ins, merchandise, and shows but the problem is that they are all geared towards the younger audience, leaving the older audience – those that grew up with the first trilogy – not much to enjoy. Where’s the video game? Where’s the mature live-action series? Where are the comics, the books, the graphic novels?

I’m sure the younger audience will get a kick out of this new show but I know I’m not alone in the frustration of hearing that we “should expect more from the franchise later this year”, knowing it’s going to be more of this.

Oh well.

New DEATHGROUND Trailer – The “Not Jurassic Park” Dinosaur Survival Horror Video Game

Back in 2020 Jaw Drop Games launched their dinosaur survival horror video game Deathground via Kickstarter, and it has been in active development ever since.

Today, the studio unveiled a brand new trailer which utilizes pre-alpha gameplay footage and yes, it looks great. Check it out below!

There is no release date for the game but it’s looking as though the Jurassic Park inspired game is coming along just swell.

Did you support the Kickstarter? You can add the game to your wishlist on Steam.

Jurassic Park is Roaring Back into Theaters!

As Alan Partridge would say, “Jurassic Park!”

We reported last week that the best movie ever made (honestly, I mean Jurassic Park this time) is returning to cinemas with both AMC and Cinemark in the USA listing screenings on August 25th.

Now, fans in the UK can join along in the fun and drag their non-fan friends along to show them what a real movie is. Participating cinemas in the UK and Ireland including Vue, Cineworld, ODEON and more will show Jurassic Park starting September 1st, for the first time in 4K.

Is there anymore to say? The official website obviously hasn’t mentioned this, but Jurassic Park returning to theaters is nothing but a great thing and you should definitely be booking your tickets.

Go see Jurassic Park and show those money-hungry studios how much power the original still has. And then write an angry letter demanding The Lost World: Jurassic Park also gets a theatrical re-release. That’s what I’ll be doing.

Will you be going to see the movie? Let us know in the comments, and let us know if you made it to any of the previous re-releases!

Happy JP30!

The Jada Gods Answered the Call: An Accurate 1:18 Scale Jurassic Park Ford Explorer is Coming in 2024!

With San Diego Comic Con well underway, the Jurassic reveals are heating up! Corey in the house is on the ground at the con and you can follow the coverage and updates on Twitter and Instagram.

But let’s get real for a moment.

Last week I whined about the lack of accurate diecast vehicles for the legendary Jurassic vehicles… and Jada heard me. I mean, obviously they didn’t, but they did just unveil one sexy (and highly accurate) diecast of the 1992/1993 Ford Explorer! Check it out below:

Isn’t she lovely, isn’t she glorious?

The sudden unveiling comes after their not-so-accurate Hollywood Rides version dropped a few months back. We thought this might be it for Jada but they just screamed their way into my heart, and hopefully yours too.

The John Bell designed tour vehicle is in the 1:18 scale which aligns with the Matchbox 1:18 Jeep Wrangler that came out during Fallen Kingdom’s reign of terror, and means it’ll be roughly the same scale as Mattel’s Jurassic action figures.

It will retail at $120 USD and the estimated release date is Spring 2024. Never have I wished for time to move faster than right now.

We’re unsure if there will be light-up headlights and taillights on this vehicle, but it does look like there could be an LED housed within those front lights. See for yourself in the gallery below.

What do you think? What does Baptiste think? Will you be buying one of these? Share your thoughts below in the comments!

Check out the exciting unveiling and behind the scenes look at The Lost World: Jurassic Park below:

This season of Beyond The Gates has been filled with items to celebrate Jurassic Park’s 30th Anniversary, with last month’s unveiling of the Hammond Collection Brachiosaurus!

There are some exciting unveilings still to come – stay tuned for more!
