Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom to air multiple TV Spots during Super Bowl LII

Are you ready for some……Dinosaurs?

Deadline is reporting what has been long expected, we will get another look at Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom during Super Bowl LII on Sunday February 4th on NBC. Though according to the report, Fallen Kingdom will have not just one TV Spot during the big game, but “multiple” spots.

Universal, whose sister network NBC is airing the game this year, has continually had a footprint during Super Bowl, and this year they’re showcasing their June 22 summer sequel juggernaut Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom as well as the Dwayne Johnson July 13 action pic Skyscraper from director Rawson Marshall Thurber.’

‘Deadline is informed that both Fallen Kingdom and Skyscraper will run multiple spots.’

In 2015, Jurassic World aired a 1 minute TV spot right before kickoff during Super Bowl XLIX. Check out that TV spot below.

TV Spots during this year’s Super Bowl are being purchased by advertisers for roughly $5 million per 30 seconds. Though since NBC is part of NBCUniversal it could be argued that the air time for the Fallen Kingdom spots are going to be at a bit of a “discount”.

It is our guess that while Jurassic World ran one 1 minute spot in 2015, Fallen Kingdom will likely air two 30 second spots sometime during the game. Since these are commercials for a major Summer blockbuster, look for both of these commerials to air during the first half of the game and not the second half. Super Bowl LII will have its opening kickoff at 6:30PM ET, but we recommend tuning in before that in case the first spot airs before kickoff.

Are you excited for the Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom TV spots that will air during Super Bowl LII on February 4th? What do you hope they show in these new looks? Let us know in the comments below and on our forums!

‘Jurassic World Live’ Arena Stunt Show Announced For 2019!

Hold on to your butts!

Universal Pictures have announced that starting in the Fall of 2019 there will be a live arena show called “Jurassic World Live“.

An official website went live this morning and it offers a brief description of what we can expect from the show.

An All-New, Live Arena Show Coming Fall 2019

Jurassic World Fans — get ready for this all-new, live-action show coming to your hometown! Experience the excitement of coming face to face with life-sized dinosaurs, including the vicious Tyrannosaurus Rex, the Velociraptor Blue and many other favorites. Adventure is guaranteed with arena-sized action, special effects and physical stunts that will leave you on the edge-of-your seat!

Image courtesy of Feld Entertainment (via Jurassic Park Podcast)

Our initial assumption and expectation is that this will be something similar to “Walking with Dinosaurs: The Arena Spectacular” that has been touring the world since 2007. But obviously this new show will be focused on the story and dinosaurs of the Jurassic World films. Check out the Walking with Dinosaurs video below of what the Jurassic World Live show may resemble.

However, despite some surface similarities it seems Jurassic World: Live will roar into new territories, pushing the boundaries of technology to bring the action to life like never before:

Feld Entertainment Inc. and Universal Brand Development are collaborating on a groundbreaking, live-touring show inspired by one of the biggest blockbuster franchises in cinematic history, Jurassic World. Feld will concept, produce and tour the multi-year arena show, which is scheduled to launch fall 2019 in the United States and will continue globally, featuring a herd of life-size dinosaurs extending up to 40-feet long. Using state-of-the-art projection mapping, fans will be transported right onto Isla Nublar, and with the addition of sophisticated animatronics and performer-operated characters, the dinosaurs will literally be the biggest stars of the show as the story is told through human and dinosaur interaction.

To bring this epic dinosaur world to life off the big screen, Feld Entertainment is breaking down the traditional arena barriers that typically exist between the audience and the live action. For the first time in an arena setting, fans will experience the epic wonder, thrills, awe and terror of the Jurassic World franchise up close and in their hometown.

“Fans around the world continue to tell us they want more ways to experience Jurassic World, and the thrilling action and larger-than-life experience of this live arena tour gives them the opportunity to engage in an all new and exciting way,” said Vince Klaseus, President, Universal Brand Development. “Feld Entertainment is best-in-class at creating spectacular live experiences, and this show is able to meet the high expectations of fans worldwide who are craving more interaction with Jurassic World dinosaurs.”

“The live Jurassic World arena experience will create new ways for fans to engage with one of the world’s most popular franchises,” said Kenneth Feld, Chairman and CEO of Feld Entertainment. “Feld Entertainment has the expertise and experience to bring this iconic franchise to life through an innovative format in an immersive arena setting coupled with a unique narrative that includes iconic locations and fan favorite dinosaurs – creating edge-of-your-seat, live entertainment that is a mix between a stunt show and a 3-D thrill attraction.

This show sounds quite different than Jurassic World: the Exhibition, the touring museum show which made its debut in 2016. While the exhibition has been met with enthusiasm from fans and families, one of the resounding comments is how the dinosaurs do not look like their film counterparts – perhaps the new live show will remedy this.

JA Bayona Teases ‘Bond-like’ Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Opening plus Terrifying Second Half Featuring a Secret Dinosaur!

Today the latest issue of Empire hits stands and included is a brand new article about Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom featuring this new exclusive still from the film.

In the above new still we see the Carnotaurus looking into the Gryosphere where characters Claire Dearing and Franklin Webb, played by newcomer Justice Smith, are taking cover. The Carnotaurus has long been a dinosaur that Jurassic fans have wanted in the Jurassic films, especially after it having a role in Michael Crichton’s The Lost World novel. In the novel, the Carnotaurus has the camouflage abilities of a chameleon and as Twitter user jaros428 mentions in the tweet below, the Fallen Kingdom Carnotaurus appears to have the eyes of a chameleon.

Now this doesn’t mean we will see the Fallen Kingdom Carnotaurus with the ability to camouflage as that trait from the novel was given to Jurassic World’s hybrid, the Indominus Rex. However the chameleon eye appears to be a nice homage to the novel Carnotaurus by the filmmakers.

Of course, the article contains more than just the new still, including some great new quotes from director J.A. Bayona about the direction of the film. Where Jurassic World was lacking an inciting incident akin to those seen in past films, it sounds like Fallen Kingdom will bring it to a new level:

“We are starting with a massive action piece that feels like a James Bond prologue”, teases Bayona. “And in the center there is the biggest set-piece ever done for a Jurassic movie”

The article continues to say that after the ‘big set-piece’, which is clearly the volcanic eruption on Isla Nublar, the story will head back to the mainland for the second half of the film. The second half of the movie will receive Bayona’s horror style will make the film feel more claustrophobic. The article asserts that Bayona’s experience with ghost stories will pay off with a mysterious new dinosaur (Indoraptor?), but he’s mum on details:

“You will see,” the director laughs. “Every movie has its star dinosaur, and this is the one people will remember.”

Be sure to pick up a copy of the latest Empire issue today to read more from them! What do you think of the new official Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom still and information? Let us know in the comments below and on our forums!

Michael Giacchino has seen a cut of Fallen Kingdom and is excited to work with Bayona

Almost one year ago exactly is when we first learned that Academy Award winning composer Michael Giacchino would be returning to work on the score for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Giacchino previously wrote the score on 2015’s Jurassic World and is one of the busiest composers currently in Hollywood. Just in 2017 Giacchino worked on The Book of Henry, Spider-Man: Homecoming, War for the Planet of the Apes and Coco. In 2018 besides Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom he is set to compose the score for Incredibles 2.

In an exclusive interview with Collider, Giacchino briefly touched on Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, sharing how excited he is to work with his good friend J.A. Bayona and that he actually has already seen a cut of the film.

COLLIDER: And as for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, I mean we got the idea through the hiring of J. A. Bayona that it’d be a bit of a darker film and they said that as well, but it very much looks like it might have this kind of thriller/horror aspect. Is that something that’s kind of reflected in the score?

GIACCHINO: Well, again, haven’t even written a note of music for that one yet either (laughs).

COLLIDER: Fair, totally fair.

GIACCHINO: But I have seen it, and yes. I love J. A., he and I have known each other for many years, we’ve been friends and we’ve been hoping to work on something together so this, I think, is gonna be a really fun project to do with him. I love his storytelling sensibility and I’m excited to take the storytelling and the franchise somewhere new and different and perhaps that is darker and more moody and more suspenseful. But again, I gotta wait and see where it takes me, but looking forward to that one too.

Fallen Kingdom ‘Dinosaur Protection Group’ Viral Website Launched!

The Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom trailer exploded online last night and today we have our first look at the in-universe website for the Dinosaur Protection Group.

This is an organization Claire Dearing has founded and their goal in the upcoming film is to find a way to get the dinosaurs off the island due to the imminent volcanic eruption threatening the extinction of the animals.

While the website doesn’t currently have much information on it at this very moment, it does contain the above logo for the group and allows guests of the site to enter their name and email address to receive updates as more of the site is launched.

A Twitter page, Facebook page and Instagram page were also released in connection to the website’s launch.

In-universe viral marketing websites are nothing new to this franchise – in November 2014 when the first trailer for Jurassic World dropped, the Masrani Global and Isla Nublar park site were released online to enhance the experience.

Iron Studios teases Jurassic Park statues ahead of CCXP 17 Next Week

Hold on to your wallets – and be prepared to spare no expense.

Iron Studios is set to unveil their first 1/10 art scale Jurassic Park statues at the 2017 Comic Con Experience (CCXP17) next week in São Paulo, Brazil. CCXP17 runs from Thursday December 7th until Sunday December 10th, but have been sharing numerous teases prior to the event.

It appears their first statue display is of the classic T-Rex breakout scene. It is likely the pieces will be sold separately as they’re in a massive 1:10th scale, and so far they have teased the JP Ford Explorer vehicle, Alan Grant, Ian Malcolm and the T-Rex. All appear to have base pieces set within the Tyrannosaur paddock, including fences and vehicle tracks.

Take a look below at some of the teases and how unbelievably detailed some of the pieces are!

Jurassic Outpost’s Chris Pugh will be traveling to CCXP 2017, so make sure to follow his updates from there here on the site!

Jeff Goldblum Gives New Updates About the Return of Ian Malcolm in Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom!

In a new interview with Radio Times, Jurassic Park’s Jeff Goldblum shared some information on what we may expect from the return of his character, Ian Malcolm, in the upcoming fifth Jurassic film, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. While he definitely does not want to spoil anything about the film, he did say this:

“Ian Malcolm, yes might be back in this one, and he might have something to say about the current confluence of circumstances around the use and misuse of technology. With some irony, deep wise passionate conviction……”

Goldblum also teases that Malcolm might again be wearing some dark clothing and tinted glasses. Of course the entire interview is it a bit humorous in nature – though his wardrobe hints come as no surprise to fans. Did you pick up how he changed his voice to sound more Malcolm-like when talking about his role? His words hint at a return to form for his character, possibly straying away from his personalty shift seen in The Lost World.

Finally, while not saying much, Colin Trevorrow has broken the recent trend of silence, offering a hint of an update:

What do you think of the new comments Jeff Goldblum made about the return of his iconic character Ian Malcolm in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom? Let us know in the comments below and on our forums!

Exciting New Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom Merch Teases a New Dinosaur!

It’s been a few months since Universal released any information about Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom, the last updates being the title reveal in June and the speculated Indoraptor reveal in July. However, that hasn’t stopped license partners from releasing small morsels of information in the form of 2018 merchandise teases.

Thanks to PPR Solutions we have our first look at what appears to be Fallen Kingdom school supplies.

The merchandise provides exciting looks at new promotional dinosaur designs for the film. These include new renders for the T-Rex(the original Jurassic Park T-Rex that first made her comeback in 2015’s Jurassic World), Triceratops, Stegosaurus, and Blue the Velociraptor among others.

The leftmost design with the text “Escape the Island” features a stampede of dinosaurs fleeing some sort of explosion or perhaps the volcano threat that was reported in July as appearing in the film. The rightmost design is perhaps the most exciting promotional picture yet – more on that below.

While there is a lot to digest from the new product images, including a silhouette of the Mosasaurus on the side of the one T-Rex binder, perhaps the most interesting is the eye looking through what appears to be a cage with a hand projecting out. It almost looks like a slender Velociraptor style hand but with the inclusion of a small Indominus Rex thumb. Could this potentially be our first real tease of the “Indoraptor”? While we know really nothing of this new hybrid dinosaur, we can speculate on its appearance based on the previous film and rumors/reports during the filming process. Could the Indoraptor be the dream dinosaur that Vic Hoskins mentioned in the final act of Jurassic World?

“Imagine. That one, a fraction of the size – deadly, intelligent, able to hide from the most advanced military technology. A living weapon unlike anything we’ve ever seen.”

Intriguingly, the artwork of the hand coming through the cage can’t help but remind us of the set photo of director J.A. Bayona with the mysterious dinosaur jaw. Take a close look again at that photo, are those bars of a cage?…..

Finally, in the second image, underneath the fiery Jurassic logo, could that be the Indoraptor skin pattern? Again, all of this is pure speculation on our part and trying to connect the dots of the information that is available – it certainly seems to match the dinosaur in the photo with JA Bayona. It remains to be seen what that mystery cage dinosaur is, and how the new designs play out when it comes to the film – but our best guess is it’s the new hybrid.

What do you think of the new merchandise and dinosaur design for Fallen Kingdom – will you buy them, or display them alongside other Jurassic Park collectibles? Also, do you think that mystery dinosaur could be the Indoraptor? Let us know in the comments below and on our forums!
