Entertainment Weekly Debuts New Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom Issue Loaded With Awesome Content!

Do you think the Indoraptor enjoys ice cream?

Now, that may sound like a weird opening, but Entertainment Weekly and Chris Pratt made sure to answer that question with their fun new photo shoot from the ‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom‘ content days, where a 1:1 Indoraptor statue adorned the set. While the comedic picture is just for fun, it is perhaps our clearest look at the Indoraptor yet, revealing its menacing expression with intricate detail.

In a preview from their issue EW has teased an explosive and tense sequel, pushing Jurassic to new territory:

Bayona’s Kingdom is perhaps the most ambitious Jurassic film to date, with a genre-shifting twist halfway through the film: The island is destroyed and the action moves to an enormous American estate where characters are trapped indoors with a rampaging new terror, the Indoraptor. Think Jurassic meets Panic Room. “The first half, you have a whole dinosaur movie on the island, so you have what you expect from a Jurassic movie,” says Bayona. “Then the second half moves to a totally different environment that feels more suspenseful, darker, claustrophobic, and even has this kind of gothic element, which I love.” The only other time the Jurassic franchise has seen the dinosaurs leave their tropical locales was the climactic moments of 1997’s The Lost World: Jurassic Park, when the T. rex stampeded San Diego. Adds Pratt, “At the end of the day, we’re all trying to make something that will be part of the Jurassic empire and tonally match the previous movies, but we’re going off in a new direction.”

That also meant the shoot was more physically demanding than the previous installment. “We upped the stunt game,” says Pratt. The actors ran, swam, and screamed for months during the production which shot in both the United Kingdom and Hawaii.”

Perhaps most excitingly, Entertainment Weekly revealed a new image from the film, likely from the upcoming trailer, which shows the Indoraptor stalking Owen, Claire, and the mysterious newcomer Maisie inside of Benjamin Lockwood’s estate. This picture really sells the terrying and inquisitive nature of the new hybrid dinosaur, and is very fun callback to Tim hiding from the Velociraptors in the kitchen in Jurassic Park.

Hold on to your butts, the new trailer drops online very soon.

Let’s Talk About That New Hilariously Awkward ‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’ Poster

Sometimes it’s not just the thought that counts, but the Photoshop ability. Sadly, it seems the latter is missing when it comes to Jurassic World.

Hitting a day before the new trailer, the Jurassic World social media accounts shared a explosive new Fallen Kingdom poster with the grim new tagline “The Park is Gone” (though with how small the ‘Fallen Kingdom’ on the logo is, it almost looks like that is the title of the film).

That aside, let’s talk about the composition of the new poster:

The concept of this poster is very solid, and everything including the colors and backdrop are really well done. The Tyrannosaurus looks approriately fearsome, the logo placed strategically with the volcanic explosion. The colors are warm and inviting, but certainly allude to danger (strangely the poster removes the teal color grade from the film many complained about) – that is all aesthetically pleasing.

But then you look to the bottom left, and it all falls apart. The characters are so poorly composited into the shot, you’d be forgiven to think it was a internet meme, placing them in locations they don’t belong. They do not blend with the environment, and the photoshop is clear as day – further, why can you not see what’s behind the glass of the Gyrosphere? Speaking of the Gyrosphere, it’s missing its bottom part, which was to be filled in by CG in the movie, and the glass just blends into the ground.

Also, the eyelines of the characters – where are they even looking? This might seem like nitpicking, but all of these are graphic design staples, and they standout tenfold due to the obvious cut and paste comp.

Of course, it’s not a first for Jurassic – don’t forget the new Blu-ray covers revealed a few months back:

As with the poster, these could have been great, but needed more thought put into the assets used plus better composition.

For a palette cleanse, we’ll leave you with a few fan posters which get the job done:

It’s worth remembering we’re all fans here, and cannot wait for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, but sometimes things need a good candid roasting, and it’s usually in good fun!

What are your thoughts on the new poster, and are you a professional graphic designer? If so, you may want to pass your contact information to Universal Pictures, and whip something up with the quality this series deserves.

Action Packed Fallen Kingdom Trailer Coming This Wednesday!

A third trailer for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is arriving this coming Wednesday and will give us an even deeper and more action-packed look at the movie!

If you are looking to avoid spoilers for the movie then now is the time to look away, as the trailer tease posted by the official Jurassic World social media accounts gives us a look at the third act of the movie and shows off a big climatic scene. Check it out below:

Did you catch it? Jurassic World’s Mosasaurus has escaped the confines of it’s enclosure on Isla Nublar and has reached the mainland… This tease alone also gives us an extended look at the IndoRaptor scene that takes place at Lockwood Manor and shows us a new angle of the dinosaur hybrid itself:

Will you be watching the third – and potentially final trailer this coming Wednesday? We will be, and as is tradition will upload a bunch of HD screenshots for your viewing pleasure!

UK Cinemas List ‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’ with Running Time of 2 Hours and 8 Minutes

Has the running time of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’ been revealed?

Just yesterday ‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdomwas rated the PG-13 for “intense sequences of science-fiction violence and peril” by the MPAA. To receive its rating by the MPAA, this means the film has achieved picture lock, and its running time is mostly set.

In conjunction with the US rating of the film, some UK cinemas have updated their pages for Fallen Kingdom, listing a running time: 128 minutes.

While some theater chains put placeholder run times on their film pages, the fact that this is listed the same on multiple chains adds credence that it’s been supplied by Universal Pictures. If rumors of ticket pre-sales starting soon are true this means theater chains have been given the run time so they can appropriately choose time slots for the film.

According to Curzon Cinemas, they will begin selling tickets for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom on Wednesday the 18th April and along with the movie’s page on their website comes a running time, which could very well be real. However, at this time the news itself remains unconfirmed, and should be treated as a rumor until officially corroborated.

Further, this running time is very consistent with other films in the franchise (other than the disappointingly short third film). Jurassic Park’s running time is 127 minutes, The Lost World’s 129 minutes, Jurassic Park 3’s 94 minutes, Jurassic World is 124 minutes, and according to both Curzon Cinemas and Showcase Cinemas, the official running time for Fallen Kingdom is 128 minutes – 2 hours and 8 minutes.

A minute longer than the first Jurassic but likely filled with heaps more dinosaur action, Fallen Kingdom releases in less than 70 days. Stay tuned, the third trailer will be attached to Avengers: Infinity War and debut online even sooner, prior to ticket pre-sales!

Rumor: ‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’ Tickets on Sale April 23rd; New Footage with The Walking Dead?

Anybody hear that? It’s a uhh… it’s an impact tremor, that’s what it is.

With less than two months to go until Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom releases in theaters, the marketing campaign is expected to roar to life any day now. The third and likely ‘final’ trailer has been rated, and is expected to drop some time this month, perhaps even in a few days! As is common, the tickets are expected to go on sale in conjunction with trailer (though not necessarily on the same date).

According to Norwegian theater chain, Gjøvik Cinemas, that date is April 23rd, 2018.

While the posting is official, we’re treating the news as a rumor for now until it’s officially corroborated by Universal, other theater chains, or otherwise. However, the date entirely makes sense give the current speculation regarding the release date of the next trailer.

This Sunday April 15th, the season finale of The Walking Dead premieres on AMC. The shows finale episodes are typically a huge TV event, attracting large audiences, and exclusive mainstream ads. On March 29th 2015, the following 30 second TV spot hit with the Walking Dead’s season finale, just under a month prior to the final ‘global’ trailer:

While there is no evidence to corroborate this, the current speculation is that a similar new TV Spot will debut this Sunday for Fallen Kingdom, with the full trailer potentially hitting online shortly after. The Final Trailer for Jurassic World released April 20th, with the tickets going on sale May 11th – assuming tickets do go on sale April 23rd, these timelines align in a moderately similar fashion, albeit less of a wait this time around.

Considering the huge box office success of Jurassic World, tickets sales starting earlier is logical, as theaters will be eager to see a repeat of that success by locking in fans as soon as possible. We’re pumped to see more from the movie, and once tickets go on sale, it’s likely other ad forms will be released, such as new theatrical posters! Whether or not the trailer releases the 15th, 23rd, or another date altogether one thing is almost certain: it will be released before April is over.

Are you excited for a new Fallen Kingdom trailer, and do you know where you plan to reserve tickets once they go on sale? Sound off, and as always, stay tuned for the latest news!

Jurassic World Prequel Novel ‘The Evolution of Claire’ Cover & Synopsis Revealed – Now Available to Pre-Order!

Jurassic Park fans are in for a huge treat this year, with the release of the wide range of toys, LEGO, comics, books, and of course, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

Perhaps one of the most exciting and unique outings is the upcoming young adult novel by Tess Sharpe, titled ‘The Evolution of Claire‘, which focuses on the character played by Bryce Dallas Howard in her early years at Jurassic World. At 400 pages, this marks the first true canonical expansion to the Jurassic expanded universe, and is sure to excite fans of all ages.

Check out the cover and read the synopsis below!

Don’t miss this pulse-pounding prequel to the Jurassic World movies that reveals the never-before-seen backstory of beloved film character Claire Dearing.

Freshman year in college is full of obstacles–there are messy roommates, cranky professors, and disgusting dining halls. But for Claire Dearing, add “How to properly avoid being eaten by a dinosaur” to that list.

The year is 2004, and Claire has been given the chance of a lifetime: the opportunity to intern at the Jurassic World theme park less than a year before it opens to the public. She is laser-focused, with her sights set on bettering the lives of all animals worldwide. But life at the park isn’t all test-driving gyrospheres and falling head over heels for a fellow student named Justin . . . though she does that too. Rumors and suspicions flood the island, and Claire is determined to unravel the truth.

As Claire searches for answers, she and Justin find themselves thrust into a sinister plot that will leave Claire forever changed, forcing her to question everything she thought she knew and bringing her one step closer to the Claire viewers met in Jurassic World and who they’ll return to in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

It sounds like even before the Indominus Rex, InGen was up to some nefarious schemes under the charismatic yet aloof leadership of Simon Masrani. Whatever story elements this book introduces is sure to spawn some intriguing discussion and debate on how it ties into the events of Jurassic World, Fallen Kingdom, and future films.

Perhaps most intriguingly is the inclusion of the male subspecies of Velociraptor only seen on Isla Sorna – as the Dinosaur Protection Group website says the dinosaurs were taken from there to Nublar, it seems safe to bet both islands will make an appearance in this book!

‘The Evolution of Claire’ releases Junes 26th, 2018 and is available for pre-order on Amazon now!

Are you excited for the books release, and what do you hope the story focuses on? Sound off in the comments below, and as always, stay tuned for everything Jurassic!

New trailer for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom has been classified

Get ready for another look at Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, when the likely final trailer for the film will be released sometime this month. The trailer has officially been classified and as per Consumer Protection BC, the new trailer clocks in at 2 minutes and 30 seconds, which is roughly six seconds longer than the first trailer that premiered in December.

The trailer will be released sometime within the next three weeks so it can be attached to the theatrical release of Avengers: Infinity War on April 27th. It will drop online prior to April 27th. The trailer releases for Fallen Kingdom have basically mirrored the same pattern of Jurassic World back in 2015 and the final trailer for that film was also released at the end of April.

In addition to the new trailer, it is highly expected that the official movie poster(s) for Fallen Kingdom will also be revealed this month. We currently have the classic Jurassic poster with the logo and black background for Fallen Kingdom but like Jurassic World, additional story themed posters are likely. Jurassic World had three story themed posters, the Mosasaurus, Claire and the Indominus Rex and Owen riding along side the pack of Velociraptors.

This will be the third official trailer for the film, check out the previous two trailers below.

Trailer #1 (premiered during Thursday Night Football on December 7th):

Trailer #2 (premiered during Super Bowl LII):

Dive Into Jurassic World: Evolution With These New Gameplay Videos!

Are you ready to step into John Hammond’s shoes and build your own Jurassic Park? On June 12th you can do just that – and as of today you can pre-order Jurassic World: Evolution!

A couple of weeks back the developers behind the upcoming Jurassic World: Evolution game held an event at the Universal backlot, showcasing the game and all it has to offer. Along with the reveal that Jeff Goldblum’s character Dr. Ian Malcolm will feature in the game, many YouTube personalities were offered the chance to experience the game and play it for themselves, and today the embargo was lifted.

The game itself is very similar to ‘Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis’, featuring deep and engaging park simulator gameplay. The staging ground for the game is the Las Cinco Muertes (five deaths) island chain plus Isla Nublar. Each island features a unique environment, with unique weather patterns, each of which factor into the way the game plays, such as environmental hazards threatening the park, or dinosaur happiness/comfort.

To build your park you need to build roads to each building, power stations and power lines which run to the various facilities. Each building can be placed at your leisure if you have them unlocked, and costs in game cash – further the buildings can be upgraded to offer more advanced features. To breed dinosaurs, you need the appropriate facility which you build into a fenced in paddock – from there, you choose the dinosaur you wish to breed, and after a incubation period, they pop on out!

The dinosaurs however must first have their genetic material discovered and decoded from various dig sites across the world. Send out an expedition, see what they find, and decode the DNA from there! The game is launching with over 40 species (no word if that’s 40 real species plus hybrids, or 40 with hybrids) and each dinosaur has unique subspecies variation depicted by different color schemes.

Keeping your dinosaurs happy and healthy is key – you need to build appropriate feeding stations, bodies of water, and allow them to range in their preferred environment. Some species will become angry or sad if they are left alone, such as Struthiomimus, and thrive with entire pack of their kin. Should a dinosaur break free, you can fly the helicopters yourself, and then tranq the dinosaurs via third person shooting mechanic – further, you can also drive the jeeps in a third person view! Taking care of dinosaur breakouts is key, as if you’re not careful, they will eat or kill guests (or other dinosaurs)!

Best of all, as the game plays out, Dr. Ian Malcolm continues to express his sassy skepticism of what you’re doing, his distaste for InGen and a dinosaur theme park overwhelming apparent.
