Concept art from Jurassic World reveals another alternate look of the Indominus Rex!

Jurassic World was released in 2015, and much too the disappointment of many fans, there was no artbook sold nor concept art gallery on the Blu-ray. As such, we have had to pour over the internet, and hope that individual artists post their work from the film for fans to appreciate.

Today concept artist Ian Joyner uploaded a new early image exploring a very different look for the Indominus Rex to his Instagram. Ian previously shared some alternate approaches to the Pteranodons, which we have also included below:

While I prefer the final look of the Indominus, I would be lying if I said I didn’t enjoy this look as well – it’s perhaps a little more reminiscent of the Giganotosaurus as opposed to the final films albino Abelisaurid appearance. Moving to the Pteranodons, while there isn’t much variation in the art, I vastly prefer the variants with the longer head crest. They look less monstrous, and more at home in the Jurassic Park franchise.

In fact, I liked the unused Pteranodons so much I had to give them a splash of color to satiate my imagination:

New Concept Art from Jurassic World Evolution!

We’re all concept art fans here – there is just something entirely captivating about seeing something go from concept to creation, which is why we always want to see more. We’re driven by the ever present curiosity of how things changed during development, what brought it to life, and of course, the desire to see some nice artwork. Ultimately, we’re Dr. Grant asking “How did you do this?” and waiting for John Hammond to say “I’ll show you.”

Jurassic World Evolution is a video game releasing alongside Fallen Kingdom in Summer 2018 – and unless you’ve been off the grid, you’ve seen the trailer and read all about it. Just in case you have not, we’ve included all the details you could ever need below, including the trailer.

Jurassic World Evolution evolves players’ relationship with the Jurassic World film franchise, placing them in control of operations on the legendary island of Isla Nublar and the surrounding islands of the Muertes Archipelago. Players will build their own Jurassic World as they bioengineer new dinosaur breeds and construct attractions, containment and research facilities. Every choice leads to a different path and spectacular challenges arise when ‘life finds a way.’

To bring the trailer to life, Frontier Developments teamed up with Realtime UK to produce the epic pre-rendered feature. Realtime are a talented VFX company who have worked on numerous TV, Film, and Game projects. That Tyrannosaurus looks ferocious and terrifying – and yet, entirely awesome. We cannot wait to learn more about this game, and of course hope to see more artwork from both Frontier and Realtime in the future!

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom to be Really Intense + SDCC News Roundup

It’s been quiet. Perhaps too quiet. And while we decided against picking something off our secret news pile, it was an interesting couple of weeks and allowed us to anticipate what the studio might do next.

San Diego Comic Con was quiet with no studio presence, but as is tradition – Chronicle Collectibles debuted a number of new products at the event, and had guest speaker Glen McIntosh of ILM there, who was the animation supervisor on Jurassic World and animation director on Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom!

Jurassic fan Victoria got to speak with Glen at the Chronicle booth and managed to score some tidbits from the upcoming sequel, including a rumour that the film was originally going to be titled Jurassic Earth.

However, we have since heard that this was merely a misinterpreted joke between Glen and Chronicle. He spoke very highly of the sequel however and said “it’s gonna be really scary, really intense, to a level that I think we haven’t seen before” and went on to compliment the creative team behind the film:

“Colin’s script, JA’s direction, they’ve really pushed the envelope of the intensity and I think that’s supported by the cinematography, there’s very harsh lighting. It’s gonna look fantastic.

At the booth Glen was gifting fans with free sketches of dinosaurs from the series and showed video from a motion capture screen test he was working on at ILM – showcasing a man in a motion capture suit animating a Velociraptor live, seen through a monitor in the foreground.

At the booth, Chronicle revealed their new product in collaboration with Paradise Collectibles: The John Hammond Cane prop replica! Cast from an original film prop seen in the movie, this cane is an exclusive 1:1 scale replica and is available for pre-order now through Paradise Collectibles new website.

Did Secret Cinema Just Announce Jurassic Park For Their Next Event?

In a world where we consider social media posts to be official confirmations, British events company Secret Cinema have just announced that their next project will be… Jurassic Park!

Secret Cinema specialise in “Live Cinema” experiences, often creating large sets based on the movie, and combining the screenings with interactive performances. One of their first major events was for Back to the Future where they created a life-size Hill Valley set.

The company have gone on to host a number of large movies, The Empire Strikes Back, Moulin Rouge! and 28 Days Later.

Now, via Instagram, Secret Cinema have seemingly confirmed that their next project will be Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park!

There is of course no further information on this and no written confirmation, but with the 25th Anniversary fast approaching and the current buzz surrounding the upcoming Jurassic World sequel, it’s safe to say Secret Cinema will take on the 1993 classic that we all know and love.

So what do you expect to see? Will we sit in a spinning auditorium and be greeted by multiple John Hammonds? Or will they up the ante and seat us on the main road where we can witness the T-rex breaking through the fence?

Support Jurassic Plush Spinosaurus and Triceratops Kickstarter

In 2015 a company based in the UK called Jungle Plush started a Kickstater for a Tyrannosaurus Rex and Apatosaurus plush. It was a success and both cuddly animals were produced and have been on sale to purchase since. However, according to the Jungle Plush website only the Tyrannosaurus Rex is still available as the Apatosaurus is currently sold out. But for fans of these plush dinosaurs there is good news as the company just launched a new Kickstarter this Jurassic June for a Spinosaurus and Triceratops plush.

The Kickstarter goal to launch the new line of dinosaur plush animals is $4,511. There are currently 29 days left to donate to make this a reality. While this company is not associated with Universal Studios or the Jurassic films, these plush dinosaurs are a great collectible for all Jurassic fans.

London Cinema Presents Jurassic Park AND The Lost World in 35mm!

With the recent announcement that Jeff Goldblum will be reprising his role as Dr. Ian Malcolm in the upcoming sequel to Jurassic World, what better way to celebrate than to watch Jurassic Park and The Lost World back to back?

The Prince Charles Cinema in London agrees and will be hosting a Double Feature screening of both movies, back to back, in 35mm!

The screening takes place on Saturday 17th June and opens at 8:45pm, with tickets costing £15 for non-members and £12.50 for members. You can purchase your tickets here!

The Prince Charles Cinema is known for screening original 35mm (or 70mm!) prints of movies and bringing back classics and cult films. They host marathons of popular franchises and also host movie premieres. The first time I went to the Prince Charles was for the premiere of a movie I had worked on. Another experience (and I really mean experience) was when they screened The Room and had Tommy Wiseau there, signing Blu-Rays. What a guy.

It’s a great cinema and is located right next to Leicester Square, so grab some food in Chinatown then head down to the Prince Charles! I’ll be there, will you?

Dr. Jack Horner sits down with us and talks Jurassic Park, Jurassic World 2, Chickenosaurus and more! Listen!

On Sunday April 2nd, the Jurassic Outpost team met with Dr. Jack Horner at the first official fan event we sponsored in collaboration with Universal Pictures. To say the least, we were thrilled that he joined us at the event – and there is no question, he stole the show! He sat down with Darice Murphy from Universal Pictures and answered numerous questions from fans before moving on to a more personal meet and greet with those attending (we believe roughly 100+)!


While video from the event is still coming from us soon, yesterday Dr. Horner was kind enough to join us for a more intensive chat and answer our biggest questions as we geek out over dinosaurs. Spoilers: yes he is working on Jurassic World 2, and says the script is great. He also dishes out his thoughts on the Jurassic Park Dilophosaurus, feathers, Velociraptor size, and much more – and it doesn’t stop there! Dr Horner also chats Terra Nova, his sweltering experience on the Jurassic World set, Chickenosaurus, and how he accidentally tortured a sum of money out of George Lucas!

I imagine some of you are sitting here asking “What on earth is Chickenosaurus?” Well, let me tell you, it’s nothing short of amazing. Dr. Horner is working with top minds in an attempt to reverse engineer a chicken, bringing out its dormant biological features such as a snout with teeth, hands with claws, and of course a tail. He hopes to have successfully engineered these dinosaurs within 3 years – I ask if we can expect a park to visit, but he took it a step further and suggested them as pets. Now you’re John Hammond, Dr. Horner.
