Rumor: Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom trailer roaring online this November!

Let’s get this out of the way – we put rumor in the title so people don’t misconstrue the news, and believe Universal officially announced this. They have not. However, we can confidently say that the Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom trailer will hit the net sometime around Thanksgiving, this November. We’re not sure of the exact date, but Universal has put out the word to retail and license partners that the marketing campaign, including the trailer, will formally begin then.

This marketing schedule aligns with that put into action for 2015’s Jurassic World, with the first trailer hitting November 25th, 2014. Let’s have a rewatch, shall we?

As a longtime fan of the Jurassic Park franchise, that trailer didn’t elicit much of an emotional reaction for me. It felt disjointed, rushed, and altogether generic. However, Jurassic World went on to break records in the box office, so I suppose it spoke well to general audiences. With that in mind, I would still prefer something tonally and emotionally in line with the franchise I fell in love with.

A good example of a trailer that achieves the impact and feeling I speak of would be the first one released for Star Wars The Force Awakens:

Now that is a trailer. It’s pure Star Wars, it sets the tone of the film, and it doesn’t share too much. It didn’t rely on typical modern blockbuster trailer tropes, and embraced its own identity and past. If Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom can achieve something half as successful, we’re in for a treat.

So what do you want to see in new the trailer for the anticipated fifth Jurassic Park film? Ian Malcolm? New Dinosaurs? Animatronics? Volcanic eruptions? Let us know! All we’re truly hoping for is something reserved and subtle – often times, less is more.

As an aside, If you’re more of a ‘see trailers in front of movies’ type of person, you’ll want to see Star Wars The Last Jedi this December 15th – that should be your first chance to catch the Jurassic World sequels footage on the big screen.

New Concept Art from Jurassic World Evolution!

We’re all concept art fans here – there is just something entirely captivating about seeing something go from concept to creation, which is why we always want to see more. We’re driven by the ever present curiosity of how things changed during development, what brought it to life, and of course, the desire to see some nice artwork. Ultimately, we’re Dr. Grant asking “How did you do this?” and waiting for John Hammond to say “I’ll show you.”

Jurassic World Evolution is a video game releasing alongside Fallen Kingdom in Summer 2018 – and unless you’ve been off the grid, you’ve seen the trailer and read all about it. Just in case you have not, we’ve included all the details you could ever need below, including the trailer.

Jurassic World Evolution evolves players’ relationship with the Jurassic World film franchise, placing them in control of operations on the legendary island of Isla Nublar and the surrounding islands of the Muertes Archipelago. Players will build their own Jurassic World as they bioengineer new dinosaur breeds and construct attractions, containment and research facilities. Every choice leads to a different path and spectacular challenges arise when ‘life finds a way.’

Jurassic World Evolution releases Summer 2018 on Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC

To bring the trailer to life, Frontier Developments teamed up with Realtime UK to produce the epic pre-rendered feature. Realtime are a talented VFX company who have worked on numerous TV, Film, and Game projects. Courtesy of the Realtime Instagram page, we have the first beautiful concept art images of Jurassic World Evolution!

Pez to bring the Jurassic World goods alongside Fallen Kingdom in 2018!

When it comes to merchandise tie-ins, Universal Pictures has spared no expense with Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom. Not only will Mattel and Lego bring the goods, not only will there be a videogame, and not only will there be chicken nuggets… there will also be Jurassic World Pez!

First shown off at the Sweets and Snacks Expo this year, PezCollectors shared the first images and details from the lineup:

“The Jurassic World assortment will be released April [2018] with T-Rex, Dilophosaurus and Blue the Raptor. The dispensers feature just the head of the dinosaur on pez stems and they look pretty awesome!

This is in addition to the Jurassic World Gift tin which will be coming out June [2018] with full body T-Rex, Blue the Velociraptor, Triceratops and Mosasaurus on click and play stems. This tin will feature Jurassic World Click and Play Pez and a Jurassic World board game in which the tops of the pez can be used as playing pieces.”

The Tyrannosaurus Rex, Blue, and Triceratops also appeared on the recently unveiled Fallen Kingdom promo merch (in fact, the Triceratops sports a similar pose), and now the Mosasaurus and Dilophosaurus join them. While the first three are certainly part of the new film, as they have film renders and art, the Mosasaurus and Dilophosaurus remain unconfirmed. It’s very possible that they were simply included in the lineup due to their popularity with kids and fans alike (much like with many Jurassic World 2015 toys).

Will they return?

Further, the packaging art is not sporting Fallen Kingdom assets, but rather the keyart seen on the product range from 2015. However, it is stressed that the assets are placeholder and it is very likely to change come 2018 when the items release.

Are you excited for Jurassic World Pez, and what other tie-in brands would you like to see the dinosaurs on? Sound off in the comments below, and as always, stay tuned for the latest news!

Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom merchandise shows off the return of Blue, Rexy, and reveals Volcano

Update: The products on display were mockups, and not fully representative of final items. While the art assets were real, they were not meant to be officially released. As such, we have removed the images at the request of NBCUniversal and TenFourCreative.

It’s time to eat some Fallen Kingdom chicken nuggets then brush your teeth with Fallen Kingdom oral hygiene products! We have our first look at the key art for Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom that will be seen on the multitude of tie-in products to be released alongside the movie. The art also reveals the anticipated return of fan favorites Blue and Rexy, while also revealing two other dinosaurs and the much discussed volcano!

[Image removed at the request of NBCUniversal and TenFourCreative]

Examining the two featured dinosaurs, Blue is looking pretty much the same as she did in Jurassic World but this time she appears to be somewhat less bulky. Although it is hard to see any changes to the Rex given what we have infront of us, we would assume there would be very little changes to her design that we saw in Jurassic World.

[Image removed at the request of NBCUniversal and TenFourCreative]

As you can see, the packaging for the sequel appears to be using ILM renders for the dinosaurs whereas the Jurassic World packaging had an illustrated version of the old Rex. What’s interesting is the choice of dinosaurs that are being used this time around. There will be two different types of packaging that we will see; one featuring the Rex and volcano, and the other being Blue with the jungle backdrop. It should also be noted that an adult and juvenile triceratops and pteranodon can be seen on some of the products but it is too early to tell if they will headline any products like Blue and Rex. Aside from the Rex and Blue who were obviously going to return for the sequel, the art seems to indicate that triceratops will also be featured in some capacity. The pteranodon that we see seems to very similar to what we saw during the marketing of Jurassic World, which could mean that it was an asset from the that movie rather than Fallen Kingdom just tacked onto the products for the new movie.

If you’ve been following along with the set pictures that we’ve been posting, you can once again see a broken down gyrosphere in the background of some of the art. The product art also reveal the erupting volcano which is all but officially confirmed to be a featured in the movie. We have speculated and provided evidence as to how it may play into the movie in several articles over the past few months. This is also not the first time we have seen volcanos or embers in Fallen Kingdom promotion with some of the earliest appearances being the character and dinosaur posters from the Licensing Expo earlier this year.

It should be noted that we have heard that the Lego line for Fallen Kingdom will be featuring the design with the volcano rather than the design with Blue against the jungle backdrop. It can be assumed that Mattel may also be doing the same. Stay tuned for more on that soon.

What do you think about the packaging for Fallen Kingdom and do you prefer this style over what we had gotten with more simple designs from Jurassic World?

LEGO to release 10 Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom sets in April 2018!

Hold on to your bricks – LEGO is returning to Jurassic World in a big way. Following the release of the LEGO sets in 2015, there has been a void of the beloved construction blocks for the Jurassic franchise – despite many ‘LEGO Ideas’ sets gaining huge support. LEGO continued to support the franchise however with the release of the digital feature ‘LEGO Jurassic World: The Indominus Escape‘, yet new sets still alluded store shelves.

However, next year with the release of Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom that will change:

As you can see, there are a total of 10 sets planned – 5 standard LEGO sets (75926, 75927, 75928, 75929, 75930), 3 LEGO Junior sets (10756, 10757, 10758), and 2 DUPLO sets (10879, 10880). At this time, it seems that all will be themed to Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom, and not have ties to Jurassic Park 25th anniversary. For those unfamiliar, while DUPLO sets use plus sized blocks and are aimed at preschoolers, LEGO Juniour uses regular blocks, and are fully compatible with standard sets – they are just more simple to build, and aimed at younger audiences. It is also suspected though unconfirmed that there will be at least one additional standard set exclusive to a retailer, perhaps Walmart, like with the first Jurassic World.

2015 Jurassic World Set

While no details about the sets are currently available, it is still exciting to get confirmation LEGO will return to Jurassic World in a big way. Further, there are two very cool details within this document that are easy to miss as important, the first being the logo. As you can see, the Logo is the Fallen Kingdom logo, but it does not feature the subtitle – it is likely this will be the logo used on most of the merchandise for the upcoming film (as oftentimes studios simply market the brand name, not the individual films). The second detail is the the April release date – this is likely the street date for all the merchandise, and when you can expect many items in stores such as the new toy line from Mattel.

What type of sets do you want to see from LEGO for the upcoming sequel? While the Jurassic World sets were nice, many weren’t exactly film accurate, and we’re hopeful LEGO will pay closer attention to accuracy with their Fallen Kingdom lineup. Sound off in the comments below, and stay tuned for the latest news!

Jurassic World Evolution takes place on Isla Nublar and the surrounding islands of the Muertes Archipelago!

Yesterday’s announcement of Jurassic World Evolution didn’t hide the fact that the game took place on the home of Jurassic Park and World – Isla Nublar. However, the full press kit has shared additional and exciting details about the upcoming video game that are sure to excite super fans. Most intriguingly, Jurassic World Evolution will include ‘The Five Deaths’ – aka Isla Sorna and its surrounding islands.

Las Cinco Muertes Map – seen in The Lost World and JP3

The Muertes Archipelago was first introduced in The Lost World, and while little is known about the islands outside of Isla Sorna, the other islands (Isla Matanceros, Isla Muerta, Isla Tacaño and Isla Pena) are known to be dangerous by locals. Do they also sport wild dinosaur populations, perhaps escaped from Sorna? And the bigger question is does this have any relevance to Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom, which is also mentioned in the press kit?

Check out the info in full:

Frontier Developments plc today announced its new game, Jurassic World Evolution, and revealed the first trailer. Based on Universal Pictures’ iconic film franchise and created in collaboration with Universal Brand Development, the game expands on the official Jurassic World mythology and puts players in charge of cinema’s greatest tourist destination – where they will have the opportunity to create and manage their own Jurassic World. Launching in summer 2018, Jurassic World Evolution will be coming to PC, the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, and the Xbox One all-in-one games and entertainment system.

“As long-time fans of the entire Jurassic series we’re thrilled to be putting players in charge of their own Jurassic World,” said Frontier’s Chief Creative Officer, Jonny Watts. “We’re excited to bring over fifteen years of management, simulation, and creature development expertise to a destination and franchise that remains an inspiration to us.”

The game is scheduled to release next summer and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom will be in theatres June 2018.

Another key bit of info in the kit is the phrasing of “bioengineer new dinosaur breeds” – does this mean the ability to create your own hybrids, as seen in the mobile Jurassic World game will make an appearence? Hybrids are seemingly here to stay with the franchise, so our bet is on yes (plus even the title Evolution hints at the concept). As long as the game puts the focus primarily on the many ‘real’ dinosaurs of Jurassic Park, World, and the various sequels I personally will welcome hybrids.

Park building videogame ‘Jurassic World: Evolution’ announced! PC, Xbox One, and PS4 – Summer 2018

The much anticipated and long overdue announcement has finally come – there is a full AAA budget Jurassic World video game in development! Announced during the Xbox conference at Gamescom, ‘Jurassic World Evolution’ made its debut with a fantastic, full CG trailer. Check out the trailer below, and read on for every detail we know!

“Create your own Jurassic World in Jurassic World Evolution. Coming to PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in Summer 2018.

Build your own Jurassic World, bioengineer new dinosaur breeds, and construct attractions, containment and research facilities. Every choice leads to a different path and spectacular challenges arise when ‘life finds a way.’”

Jurassic World Evolution is a park building simulator, much similar to the fan favorite ‘Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis’ which was released in 2003. Evolution is being created by the longstanding Frontier Developments, the studio behind Zoo Tycoon, Rollercoaster Tycoon, and much more! While little is known about the game itself, it is fair to assume it will feature in depth park management, creation, and dinosaur containment scenarios. In fact, the end of the trailer seems to hint at a storm system threatening the park, something Operation Genesis was known for!

If you are unfamiliar with park building games, check out the footage below from Jurassic Park Operation Genesis, which should give a fair idea of what’s to come.

Expect many dinosaurs and features in Jurassic World Evolution – and while it has yet to be said officially, expect many tie ins to the upcoming sequel Fallen Kingdom which also releases Summer 2018! Perhaps the volcano will play a part?

The known dinosaurs featured in ‘Evolution’ include Tyrannosaurus Rex, Parasaurolophus, Stegosaurus, Brachiosaurus, Apatosaurus and Triceratops – expect many, many more!

You can follow Jurassic World Evolution on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and the official website.

New Mattel board game for Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom?

A new trademark made by Mattel, Inc. on August 4th could potentially be a hint at a possible board game for Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom. This is complete speculation at this point and there has been no confirmation if this is indeed related to the upcoming film or possibly just another product Mattel is producing.

The trademark filed by Mattel, Inc. on the United States Patent and Trademark Office website is for the phrase “Evacuate The Island”. The description of the trademark is “PARLOR GAMES AND ACCESSORIES THEREFOR; BOARD GAMES AND ACCESSORIES THEREFOR” indicating this is some sort of game.

It has been previously reported that Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom will feature a volcanic threat and it is safe to assume the characters may have to evacuate the island at some point which makes the speculation strong for this trademark to be related to the film. Another trademark for “Fossil Strikers” was also filed on August 4th by Mattel for Toy Figures and accessories.

What do you think of the “Evacuate the Island” trademark by Mattel? Do you think it is Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom related? Let us know in the comments below and on our forums.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom to be Really Intense + SDCC News Roundup

It’s been quiet. Perhaps too quiet. And while we decided against picking something off our secret news pile, it was an interesting couple of weeks and allowed us to anticipate what the studio might do next.

San Diego Comic Con was quiet with no studio presence, but as is tradition – Chronicle Collectibles debuted a number of new products at the event, and had guest speaker Glen McIntosh of ILM there, who was the animation supervisor on Jurassic World and animation director on Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom!

Jurassic fan Victoria got to speak with Glen at the Chronicle booth and managed to score some tidbits from the upcoming sequel, including a rumour that the film was originally going to be titled Jurassic Earth.

However, we have since heard that this was merely a misinterpreted joke between Glen and Chronicle. He spoke very highly of the sequel however and said “it’s gonna be really scary, really intense, to a level that I think we haven’t seen before” and went on to compliment the creative team behind the film:

“Colin’s script, JA’s direction, they’ve really pushed the envelope of the intensity and I think that’s supported by the cinematography, there’s very harsh lighting. It’s gonna look fantastic.

At the booth Glen was gifting fans with free sketches of dinosaurs from the series and showed video from a motion capture screen test he was working on at ILM – showcasing a man in a motion capture suit animating a Velociraptor live, seen through a monitor in the foreground.

You can see the full 9 minute video here showing what Victoria saw at the Chronicle booth, including some of their new products – the Hammond Cane (which they worked in collaboration with Paradise Collectibles on), the sick Triceratops and the Indominus Rex statue.

You can watch Chronicle’s interview with Glen at the booth here, and below are some photos taken by Figure.com showcasing Chronicle’s new products:

At the booth, Chronicle revealed their new product in collaboration with Paradise Collectibles: The John Hammond Cane prop replica! Cast from an original film prop seen in the movie, this cane is an exclusive 1:1 scale replica and is available for pre-order now through Paradise Collectibles new website.

Read more about the Hammond cane here, and let us know what you think of all these new products in the comments below! We really enjoy reading all of the discussions you guys have below, so keep it up!

First merchandise art from Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom erupts online!

Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom may have been a no-show at San Diego Comic Con, but it did not take long for a merchandise sneak peek to make its way online. The Escolar Office Brasil, a trade show for office and school supplies, was recently held at the Expo Center Norte in São Paulo Brazil. The show took place July 23-26th, and had products from many popular properties, including Minions and Star Wars.

Thanks to Instagram user Dinosaursclan, we know Fallen Kingdom also made an appearance, and have a look at some of the 2018 Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom promotional art that will be featured on merchandise!

The notebooks pictured are being produced by Foroni, a popular licensed school supply manufacturer, and a previously established license partner for Jurassic World. In the image shared above, two different notebooks are pictured, featuring key art from the 2018 style guide. Fallen Kingdom has numerous themes, and that volcanic image to the right is one of many in the same style that will grace products next year.

As it stands, most of the early Fallen Kingdom merchandise will reuse Jurassic World assets (especially for dinosaurs), only in new environments, and painted to new styles (the most striking of which are volcanic). However, overall, the look and feel is more exciting and gritty than the merchandise made for Jurassic World, sharing a resemblance with The Lost World’s product base.

The art pictured is perhaps the most outwardly volcanic art we have seen from the upcoming Jurassic Park sequel, and leaves little ambiguity about that plot element (which was recently confirmed by Frank Marshall).

The other themes on display for the early Fallen Kingdom merchandise are certainly exciting, and at least one features a familiar vehicle returning in a new and exciting way – with any luck, more will be officially revealed in near future! That said, they are mostly conservative when it comes to showing off new elements, particularly dinosaurs, and it’s likely only later waves will be more revealing with new assets.

Are you excited to see more merchandise from Fallen Kingdom, and what type of imagery would you like to see utilized? Sound off in the comments below, and stay tuned for the latest news!
