‘Jurassic World: Dominion’ Soundtrack Details and New Track Revealed!

Jurassic World franchise composer Michael Giacchino has announced the ‘Jurassic World: Dominion’ soundtrack – complete with release details, formats, and a brand new track from the film!


The full score album will be available digitally, on CD, Vinyl via Mondo, and in Dolby Atmos June 10th. One brand new track, “Da Plane and Da Cycle”, was released early today – you can listen to it via Apple Music, Spotify, and via YouTube below!


Giacchino has returned with his signature bombastic Jurassic musical style and pun-filled track titles. The album boasts 32 tracks – plenty of music for the massive film that Jurassic World: Dominion is shaping up to be. We are enjoying the score so far and can’t wait to hear more when Dominion releases next week!

DeWanda Wise Confirms Extended Cut of ‘Jurassic World: Dominion’, more of Kayla Watts’ Backstory!

In a new interview with Collider, Jurassic World: Dominion star DeWanda Wise revealed more about the process of developing her new character Kayla Watts, and even confirmed an extended cut of Dominion!


Jurassic World: Dominion will introduce DeWanda Wise as Kayla Watts, a former Air Force pilot who becomes integral to the mission Claire, Owen, Maisie, and Drs. Sattler, Grant, and Malcolm find themselves on in the film. Wise spoke to developing her character’s backstory, saying:

“I gave Kayla a dialogue pass. I gave Kayla a full dialogue pass. She was already very clear on the page. I had a couple of touchstones that were nonnegotiable. Her background’s her background. She was always Air Force. I knew that there were certain moments in the script that I had to execute, so I knew that she had to have a certain physicality for you to believe that she could pull Chris Pratt out of the water because he is I don’t know how many times my actual size. So there were certain things that I wanted to ensure that were true, but also, we workshopped her. Truly like old school theater nerd, we both went to NYU and workshopped her for a couple of weeks to really refine and integrate her backstory.”


Wise also spoke to unseen past dinosaur missions that could have influenced her character, important costume design decisions, and perhaps even a future story we might see for her character:

“I won’t say because, you know, maybe there will be another thing. I’m vying for a prequel. Anyway, that’s not the point! Point is, I talked about it a lot funny enough. One of my co-conspirators with Kayla, which you can see very clearly in this film was [costume designer] Joanna Johnston in the construction of that character, so a lot of her adventures we built into the wardrobe.”

While she didn’t reveal any specifics, she did tease something to look out for in Dominion and perhaps beyond:

“She had this moment, and it’s probably gonna be in the extended cut, maybe, we’ll see, but she has this beautiful pair of brass knuckles and we have this entire backstory of this adventure that she had gone on in South Africa — [laughs] Girl, I love backstories! — where she procured these knuckles. Because a lot of Kayla has this kind of Indiana Jones, she’s been everywhere. Some of her travels are for work and she goes on them because she has to go on them, and some are just for her.”


Finally, Wise was asked about how the fall of Jurassic Park and Jurassic World influenced the person her character has become:

“She really makes a true hero’s call. There’s something that’s awakening inside of her when we meet her at the top of this movie and it’s because she’s in part very disillusioned, you know? She’s very disillusioned and disappointed at the folly of man. And she’s in this place when we first meet her that’s just like, ‘If you can’t beat them, join them,’ and she’s just made a living off the mistakes of the people who have come before her. So you kind of have this level of resignation, but there’s something that’s building in her that she’s come to the end of the line of herself where she’s just like, ‘There is something I can do though, actually.’ And that was really inspiring to me to be like, we can all be heroes in a way and that at any moment we can make those turning points for ourselves to stand up for something when we see something happening.”

“Jurassic World Night” Tonight on NBC!

Hold on to your butts!

The latest bit of Jurassic World: Dominion marketing will air tonight on NBC at 8PM Pacific and 8PM Eastern time: “Jurassic World Night”!

NBC will air the first Jurassic World film, and commercial breaks during the film will consist of seven Jurassic World: Dominion cast members & Colin Trevorrow speaking about the legacy of Jurassic Park and the franchise.

This sounds like a very cool way to continue to promote the upcoming sixth film in the Jurassic franchise and celebrate the series’ legacy.

Be sure and tune in to NBC tonight at 8PM PST / 8PM EST for “Jurassic World Night”, and be on the lookout for more Dominion marketing as we head towards June 10th!

The Lost World: Jurassic Park – 25th Anniversary!

Happy 25th Anniversary to Jurassic Park‘s first sequel: The Lost World: Jurassic Park! This film brought Dr. Ian Malcolm back to us and gave us some of the most beautiful and action-packed moments of the entire Jurassic franchise. From the mysterious Isla Sorna and its wild velociraptors to a rampaging T. rex in San Diego, The Lost World delivers so much incredible dinosaur action and Jurassic lore to viewers. Ian, Dr. Sarah Harding, Kelly Malcolm, Roland Tembo, Nick Van Owen, and so many others are characters that Jurassic fans will always know and love in a film that stands the test of time in so many ways. We at Jurassic Outpost could talk about this film for a very long time, but for now you can read the thoughts of a few of our staff and continue celebrating The Lost World with us below:

Josh Evans

I feel like I was born at one of the best times possible to be able to enjoy the Jurassic film franchise from the very beginning. At 8 years old in the Summer of 1993 I lived in the theaters seeing Jurassic Park over and over again. Imagine finding out shortly after that a sequel to the film I loved so much was going to be coming out. I was the dorky kid that cut out The Lost World logo from one of the Kenner toy boxes and taped it to my school daily calendar so I could count down the days. I will also never forgot my oldest brother taking me to the local Thursday midnight showing before release. While The Lost World is not my favorite of the sequels, it will always hold a special part in my memories as a child. The giant redwoods and the different look the filmmakers gave Isla Sorna is still one of the most beautiful visuals of the entire series. Also, who doesn’t love a T. rex family instead of just one!

Derrick Davis

Me and The Lost World: Jurassic Park have a weird relationship. As a fan of the original film, when I first saw this sequel in the theater I actually didn’t like it! I think kid-Derrick expected to go back to Isla Nublar, find out what happened to the dinosaurs there and see the ruins of the Visitor Center (something that would finally happen in Jurassic World). However, instead we went to some other island and saw ruins of things we had never seen before. I also was ready to finally see pteranodons, only to have one cameo at the very last moment of the film (luckily we would see a lot more of them in Jurassic Park 3). As a kid, not having these wishes fulfilled led to an utter disappointment of the entire film. But the merchandise was amazing… leading to a PC game tied to the film called Trespasser – The Lost World: Jurassic Park that explored Isla Sorna in great detail, aided with narration from John Hammond himself. Playing that game, and exploring Sorna on my own while hearing more about it from Hammond, led to a new appreciation for The Lost World. And ever since then, I’ve loved it. It’s a dark, intense thrill ride of a movie with incredible atmosphere and an amazing musical score by John Williams that is one of my favorites. It’s likely the darkest the franchise will ever be from the masterful filmmaker who began the franchise. And Kelly Malcolm literally kicks ass.

Jack De La Mare

I grew up loving The Lost World as much as Jurassic Park and that is still true today. To date, there is no greater sequel than The Lost World. How can you not love it? I’ve heard it’s actually Spielberg’s favorite movie. Who knows?

Caleb Burnett

Though one or two others may come close, The Lost World: Jurassic Park has always been my favorite sequel to Jurassic Park. Since I was very young I have always adored how it ups the ante of dinosaur action, brings new locations and dark moods to the table, and continues the story of Ian Malcolm and the Jurassic franchise in such a unique way. Not to mention the incredible and distinctly unique musical score that accompanies all of this. This film will always be my go-to for an escape from daily life. Steven Spielberg, John Williams, and every actor and crew member involved with this film created something eternally special to so many.

We couldn’t be happier to celebrate 25 years of The Lost World: Jurassic Park.

New ‘Jurassic World: Dominion’ Featurette Presents The Legacy of Jurassic Park!

Jurassic World: Dominion – The Legacy Featurette has been released by Universal Pictures! This brand new video contains interviews with the returning Jurassic Park cast members, the core cast of Jurassic World, and even Colin Trevorrow, all sharing the impact that the Jurassic franchise has had on cinema as a whole and how it all continues in Jurassic World: Dominion. Watch the full featurette below!




“It expands to new territories, and crashes through barriers… painfully, maybe even dangerously…”

The featurette begins with Sam Neill (Dr. Alan Grant), Laura Dern (Dr. Ellie Sattler), and Jeff Goldblum (Dr. Ian Malcolm) sharing pieces of their experiences making Jurassic Park alongside incredible behind-the-scenes footage from the set of that film. Dern speaks of the “energy on set that it was the first time you’d ever seen anything like this,” and Goldblum speaks to how he was “excited for everything that it could be.” The legacy of these actors, their characters, and the incredible film that is Jurassic Park is clear here, and the featurette begins to demonstrate their connection to Jurassic World: Dominion as it transitions to the characters of the Jurassic World films.


“Well, there it is.”

Continuing with the core Jurassic World cast, Chris Pratt (Owen Grady) and Bryce Dallas Howard (Claire Dearing) share the impact that Jurassic Park and seeing real dinosaurs on-screen had on them as well as cinema as a whole. “Suddenly that which had never seemed real before was totally real, and I realized at that moment that cinema forever had changed,” Howard says. Director Colin Trevorrow joins to share that “Jurassic World: Dominion is the culmination of the franchise. It concludes the story that Steven Spielberg started telling in 1993.” Pratt and Howard go on to share how great and surreal it was to work with the legacy cast member of Jurassic Park, and Laura Dern shares that Dominion was a “fantastic idea to bring these two worlds together.” Trevorrow and Howard go on to explain that with all of the characters returning, it is truly the intersection and convergence of the entire storyline and franchise.


“Life, uh… finds a way.”

There are also some very interesting new visuals and moments of dialogue in this featurette. Dr. Henry Wu (BD Wong) appears briefly to say “We need to fix a terrible mistake,” which could have massive implications for the storyline and the Jurassic franchise. We see fiery, action-packed moments featuring the entire cast, as well as new shots of the legacy and modern casts mixing together in interesting ways: a tense moment between Owen Grady and Dr. Malcolm, and Maisie, Dr. Grant, and Dr. Sattler running in lab coats through what looks like Biosyn’s headquarters. The featurette culminates in wild shots of the chaos to come in Malta, Owen and Kayla meeting the Pyroraptor, and the entire cast facing off with the massive Giganotosaurus, seen for the first time in glorious, full animatronic form!




Needless to say, this new Jurassic World: Dominion featurette is fantastic, and showcases multiple new moments and pieces of information that demonstrate the deep connection this film will have to the original: Jurassic Park. It also showcases how definitive the franchise has been for generations of people, and how fortunate we are to be witnessing the continuation of incredible stories 30 years in the making. Interview with Funko Games and Prospero Hall – Inspirations Behind NEW Jurassic World: The Legacy of Isla Nublar Game!

Earlier this month we were fortunate to be able to participate in a playthrough event at Funko Hollywood HQ with Funko Games and Prospero Hall for their new game: Jurassic World: The Legacy of Isla Nublar!

During this event we had the immense privilege of interviewing two of the top minds behind the development of this brand new tabletop legacy game: Deirdre Cross, Vice President of Funko Games, and Ruby Wishnietsky, Editorial Lead for Prospero Hall. These two are big fans of the Jurassic franchise and have done an incredible job with this game. Read on to hear how they injected their passion for Jurassic and tabletop gaming into Jurassic World: The Legacy of Isla Nublar!

What is your relationship with Jurassic Park and Jurassic World, and how did that influence developing this game?

Ruby Wishnietsky:

“My relationship with Jurassic Park and Jurassic World was definitely deepened through the development of this game. I am a huge amusement park fan. So honestly, my clearest relationship to them is riding the ride in Florida – going through that wonderful boat ride and getting freaked out by dinosaurs.”

Deirdre Cross:

“My relationship with the Jurassic World franchise is, I would say, very deep and quite intimate. I reread the book every year and I don’t even know how many times I’ve seen the first film. But really, I celebrate the whole thing. I’m so into Jurassic World that I have two cats at my house – one of them is named Dr. Grant and the other one is named Dr. Malcolm. And they’ve both grown too big to fit in our game box.”


That is so awesome. So the word “legacy” – it feels like that’s important. How does the word legacy connect with the franchise, this game, and everything that’s going on with the new films?

Ruby:

“Well, the, the word ‘legacy’ in the title of the game, Jurassic World: The Legacy of Isla Nublar, has a few different meanings. One of the meanings of course is that the whole story is John Hammond’s legacy, right? As it goes, you know, from the inception of the park, his dream of the park, and then carries on through the whole Jurassic story. The whole thing is his legacy.

The other meaning that it has is that legacy is a type of gameplay, which means that the game changes over time. As you make decisions, it changes permanently as you and your playgroup explore the stories and the adventure and build your own park. That’s really the meaning of legacy for us in this context.”

Deirdre:

“And as you may have noticed playing the game, and as you will continue to notice, it has even deeper meanings as you play through our particular game. Not just Hammond but other characters will leave their legacy on the island and on your part. And so you’ll see how that plays out as you continue your adventures.”


What themes from the Jurassic franchise, whether it’s the books or the films, were important to you to put into this game?

Ruby:

“I have a couple that relate to some specific aspects of the game that I love to talk about. One of the big themes that played a big role in our art direction is the early fear of how technology is going to affect the natural world. In the art direction of the game, we went very much from the perspective of what influenced the creators of the Jurassic stories: 1950s and ’60s pulp comics, monster movie posters, and even scientific textbooks. Thinking about how this exciting new technology field of genetics is going to change things for the better or for the worse – who knows?

One of the other themes that I think we play on a lot in the gameplay sense is the wonder at the unknown and learning with our new scientific knowledge – learning some aspects of what used to be and what was extinct, but not having the whole story.”

Deirdre:

“I mean, we’re filling in the gaps. You know, there’s still gaps in the code, the DNA. And we’re sort of guessing at what it was. And in the mechanical gameplay of our game, there are gaps there and the players can guess – maybe they’ll guess right and be a little more prepared, or maybe something’s going to go very differently than what they expected.

I also feel like a theme is ‘you can’t put it back in the box.’ Like, there are things you can’t undo.”


The artwork is gorgeous. Can you talk a little bit more about what it was like developing the artwork and all of the stickers and game pieces and everything?

Deirdre:

“Like Ruby was saying about where we went to look for our inspiration for the art style and everything – back to the fifties and sixties, pulp and scientific textbooks, scientific magazines. But beyond that we also had this great opportunity to do these sculpts in the game, the sculpted miniatures. And we worked very closely with Universal and Amblin to get their files for 3D dinosaurs and stuff. We’re getting all this amazing stuff and we start to realize, well, yeah, we can just make the dinosaurs.

A lot of games just have dinosaurs in them, but what if our game had a more immersive sculpture that tells a story on its own that is also a really beautiful storytelling piece? So when you look at our sculpted velociraptor game piece, it’s two raptors coming out of the door of the kitchen. It’s so cool.

It’s so great to get to really pour so much creativity into those tiny pieces that are on the table. And I think as you look at the whole product, from the stickers to the card art to even the liner of the box, everything is bespoke and original to the product.”


Last question: You said you read the books often. Was there anything from those that influenced this game at all?

Deirdre:

“I think, like what Ruby’s saying about the exploration of science and the tension of the unknown… If you’ve also read the books, you understand what Steven Spielberg was doing when he created the films, because that was his source material. The story he’s trying to tell, when you also read the books as more backstory, there’s a lot more in there about that tension. Though our game does not technically cover the books, you can definitely feel their DNA.”

Jurassic World: The Legacy of Isla Nublar tells the franchise’s story in 12 one-to-two hour long adventures, encompassing the entire Jurassic World franchise from before the events in Jurassic Park all the way through Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and everything in between, including original stories that fill in the gaps between films and a spoiler-free ending for fans eagerly awaiting the premiere of Jurassic World Dominion in June 2022.  

In Jurassic World: The Legacy of Isla Nublar, players have the chance to unlock up to 12 dinosaurs, and more than 21 new and familiar characters with unique abilities, knowledge and powers that can be unlocked as the campaign advances. Ultimately, players work together throughout the game’s entirety to shape their own Jurassic Park. From building placement to character selection and dinosaur development, every choice leads to a consequence – good or bad.
