New ‘JURASSIC WORLD: DOMINION’ Image And Details Revealed!

Entertainment Weekly has revealed a new image and some interesting plot information in the Jurassic World: Dominion exclusive from its 2022 Preview, on newsstands this Friday.

The featured image finds Chris Pratt’s Owen Grady “rounding up parasaurs in the Sierra Nevadas,” according to director Colin Trevorrow. This parasaur sports a completely new design, different from any past entry in the Jurassic franchise. Trevorrow continued:

“He’s not too far from where the dinosaurs got out in the last film. The parasaurs are in danger of being poached. There’s a lot of shady types out there who want to get their hands on dinosaurs, so he’s working to protect them.”

Trevorrow went on to elaborate on a couple of plot elements from Dominion, saying:

“They [the dinosaurs] have been multiplying and living amongst us and clashing with us … Dominion is set all over the world, through many different environments: wilderness, urban, desert, snow. It’s exciting to see these creatures navigate environments that they weren’t built to survive in. They grew up in a theme park and now they’re here!”

According to the article, Dominion takes place four years after 2018’s Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom – enough time for dinosaurs to have found a way to spread around the globe. Owen and Bryce Dallas Howard’s Claire are still attempting to save the dinosaurs when the film starts. When asked where exactly Claire is, Trevorrow responded:

“I don’t want to say just yet … But she’s at a point where she’s questioning her methods, and whether she can stay safe and fulfill the responsibility that she has to the other people in her life that care about her.”

Equally intriguing is what Trevorrow had to say about Campbell Scott’s Lewis Dodgson:

“He is the main villain throughout both of [Crichton’s] novels, and I think what Campbell’s done with the character is just amazing. I can’t wait for people to see it.”

That’s a strong hint that Dodgson will play a big role in Dominion.

FUNKO Announces New JURASSIC WORLD: THE LEGACY OF ISLA NUBLAR Board Game!

Funko Games‘ acclaimed design studio Prospero Hall has announced a new board game: Jurassic World: The Legacy of Isla Nublar, slated for release in 2022!

The game was first teased back in September, and Polygon shared the exclusive reveal today.

With more than 24 hours of thrilling customizable adventures, Jurassic World: The Legacy of Isla Nublar will be coming to Kickstarter in March 2022.

“Life finds a way,” and so does the passionate team at Prospero Hall, the acclaimed development studio of Funko Games, who has created a legacy game based on a blockbuster entertainment franchise — Jurassic World: The Legacy of Isla Nublar, which will be launching on Kickstarter on March 22, 2022. First Look Known for its inventive game mechanics and gorgeous design, Prospero Hall delivers more than 24 hours of customizable, unique gameplay that transforms into an endlessly re-playable board game upon completion of the final adventure.

The game concept, based on the Jurassic World franchise from Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment, was announced this September at Gen Con. The game takes you through storylines found in all five films in the Jurassic World franchise – from the creation of “Jurassic Park,” through the fall of the “Jurassic World” theme park! Over the course of 12 thrilling adventures, you will transform Isla Nublar into an astonishing paradise, build your own vision of the theme park, and breed new dinosaurs.  Each adventure takes about two hours to complete – delivering more than 24 hours of rich, immersive game play experiences.

Players can team up and play as familiar characters such as Dr. John Hammond, Dr. Alan Grant, Dr. Ellie Sattler, Claire Dearing, Owen Grady, and more fan favorites and all new characters while developing the park and unlocking new dinosaurs. Each decision made during play will uniquely and permanently affect the course of the game, resulting in dramatically different outcomes.

“We always aim to create games we want to play around stories and characters we love most,” said Deirdre Cross, Vice President of Prospero Hall.  “This project has been in development for years, which has allowed us to experiment and innovate.  We believe we are redefining the legacy game genre in a way that will surprise and delight tabletop and Jurassic World fans.”

 Gameplay begins with detailed miniatures of four dinosaurs: Tyrannosaurus rex, Velociraptor, Brachiosaurus, and Triceratops. As players research and expand the park, they will unlock more dinosaurs from the mystery boxes while keeping park employees and visitors safe.  The players’ experience will culminate in an endlessly replayable game shaped by their own unique park.

Jurassic World: The Legacy of Isla Nublar will be coming to Kickstarter on March 22, 2022 for $120, distributed by Funko Games.  Weighing a whopping 7 pounds, Jurassic World: The Legacy of Isla Nublarhas a unique 1950s art style inspired by the comic books and media that influenced the creation of the beloved franchise.

Artist William Stout Shares ‘Escape From Jurassic Park’ Animated Series Insights at SDCC Panel!

William Stout, whose book The Dinosaurs: A Fantastic New View of a Lost Era inspired Michael Crichton’s Jurassic Park, presented a “Spotlight on William Stout” panel at San Diego Comic-Con Special Edition this weekend, and we were fortunate enough to attend. During the presentation he shared some very fun insights into his work on the ‘Escape From Jurassic Park’ animated series as well as stories from his career in the art and film industries – most interestingly those from his time in the world of Jurassic Park.

William Stout’s career spans more than 50 years, and his love for dinosaurs spans even longer. He wrote and illustrated his book The Dinosaurs: A Fantastic New View of a Lost Era in order to incorporate and share new discoveries about dinosaurs’ lives and behavior.

One of his first major film credits was Conan The Barbarian, and he first met Kathleen Kennedy (producer/executive producer of the first three Jurassic Park films) in the production office of that film. Through Kennedy and other connections in the industry, his name was in conversations surrounding the production of Jurassic Park in the early 1990s. Stout was among those considered by Steven Spielberg to be the production designer for the film. Though he was very interested and thought he could’ve been perfect for the job, Spielberg later chose Rick Carter (who did an incredible job). When asked about this, Stout said:

“There are a couple of sayings in Hollywood: ‘The more perfect you are for a job, the less likely it is that you’ll get it’ and also ‘The more you want a job, the less likely it is that you’ll get it.’ I really wanted the job. It was the only job I ever really pursued employment on. Others just came to me. I also think they were worried based on my prior knowledge of dinosaurs that I might suggest something that Spielberg didn’t want, which I never would have done. I was extremely interested in the job and pursued it very hard, harder than any other job in my career. And sometimes the jobs you pursue that hard are the ones you end up not getting.”

Stout certainly would have had a very unique take on the production of Jurassic Park. He remains a huge fan despite it all.

When asked about his time working on ‘Escape From Jurassic Park’, Stout said:

“Working on the Jurassic Park animated series was so fantastic for me. It was heavily inspired by European and German comic book series – not only the humans but the dinosaurs as well. It was meant for primetime, and for adults and family members. It was not gonna be a kiddie show, and they were gonna use a lot of CG animation to do the vehicles and things. We shot a trailer for it that was just incredible. But about the time they decided they would show it to Steven Spielberg (because they needed his final blessing on the project), he had been so inundated with Jurassic Park merchandising and marketing that he was sick of it. He didn’t even look at the trailer, he just said ‘Nah, I don’t even wanna do it.'”

The unfortunate cancellation of the series is truly a shame. It sounds incredible every time it comes up in conversation, and it seems Stout really loved working on it. The image above, according to Stout, was “inspired by zookeepers feeding Condors at the San Diego Zoo.” You can view some of his concept artwork for ‘Escape From Jurassic Park’ in the gallery below. Things Get WILD As First JURASSIC WORLD CAMP CRETACEOUS SEASON FOUR Trailer Arrives!

The first full trailer for SEASON FOUR of Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous is here! The new season will feature guest stars Kirby Howell-Baptiste and Haley Joel Osment and run for 11 all-new episodes, exclusively on Netflix December 3. In case you missed it, watch below:

The trailer begins similarly to previous Camp Cretaceous trailers in that we see the campers seemingly escaping to freedom on a commandeered boat. It’s not long, however, before they are attacked by Jurassic World’s escaped Mosasaurus. Their boat is torn to pieces and they wash up on what, according to show-runner Scott Kreamer, is “an island previously unseen in the Jurassic canon.” The campers discover the sort of technology hinted at in the first teaser for season four: some sort of hyper-realistic portrayal of different biomes such as a desert and a possible snowy environment. The campers are also shown in a dense forest environment encountering a T. rex and too many drones to count.

Large vehicles and the anticipated ‘robot dog’ are seen moving across a snowy environment, but then breaking through the wall of the aforementioned projection technology. In a truly wild turn, the campers encounter a sabertooth tiger, of all things, in a dark desert environment. As things get hectic in this trailer, we see Kenji in peril in the desert, the Kentrosaurus in the snowy environment, the ‘robot dog’ sinking to its possible demise, Darius sprinting through the jungle, and the Kentrosaurus facing off with a T. rex. An “Escape Is Only The Beginning” tagline plays out over these chaotic moments.

The climax of the trailer features one thing fans have been waiting for: the return of the Spinosaurus. The campers come face to face with the beast in the new island’s desert environment as Brooklynn quips, “That’s new…”, before it roars and charges after them. The Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous title card flashes for a moment before a fun stinger scene at the end. The campers are seen hiding in a jungle environment with a mysterious facility in front of them. Sammy declares that “Something tells her they shouldn’t go in there,” to which Kenji responds, “…which means we’re obviously going in there.” Brooklynn gestures them all forward with a “Come on!”, and the trailer ends.

There is a lot to unpack and digest here: Brand new environments, sabertooth tigers, drones, robot dogs, and the fearsome Spinosaurus. Interestingly enough, show-runner Scott Kreamer has hinted that “…there’s a good chance that it might be the exact same Spinosaurus,” which raises even more questions. Interview with BEASTS OF THE MESOZOIC Creator David Silva!

Fresh off completion of the Kickstarter Campaign for the Beasts of the Mesozoic: Tyrannosaur Series, creator David Silva joined Jurassic Outpost to talk about his work with Neca, McFarlane, the 2009 Jurassic Park Hasbro toy line, and his own collectible line: Beasts of the Mesozoic!

In the interview, David talks about his passion for creating and collecting action figures, his interests in natural history and scientific accuracy, and what it took to bring this project to life. Watch the interview below!

First Jurassic World CAMP CRETACEOUS Season 4 Teaser Reveals Release Date of December 3rd!

“You mean there are two islands with dinosaurs on them?!”

The first teaser for season four of Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous has arrived, and it brings both answers and more speculation. It reveals the next season’s release date of December 3rd and hints: “A New Island Awaits…”

The fourteen second teaser visually approaches a dark island filled with dense jungle, but a visual glitch teases a stark, desert locale – which is definitely not Isla Sorna. In the music, the ‘raptor motif’ from the original Jurassic Park score makes an appearance and swells into an epic version of the signature Jurassic Park theme. The inclusion of the ‘raptor motif’ is interesting, as Isla Sorna is certainly known for its raptors.

The fast approaching December 3rd date is very exciting, but what could this teaser mean for season four’s story locations? Could the dense jungle we see be Isla Sorna, and the desert an external InGen facility or something else entirely? Will more than one island be visited by Darius, Yaz, Kenji, Brooklynn, Sammy, and Ben in season four? We’ll have to watch and find out!

Ariana Richards Teases a Possible Return to the World of Jurassic!

Jurassic Park‘s Lex Murphy, Ariana Richards, was recently interviewed by the Celebrity Catch Up podcast and offered some interesting thoughts on her career and Jurassic. Though Richards stepped away from the acting world many years ago to focus on her very successful art career, she didn’t rule out a return.

During the interview, host Genevieve took listeners through a retrospective of Richards’ film career. Richards portrayed Lex Murphy in Jurassic Park in 1993 and briefly in The Lost World: Jurassic Park in 1997. Things got interesting when they reached that portion of the retrospective. When asked if she would ever return to the Jurassic franchise or in Jurassic World: Dominion for adult scenes of Lex Murphy, Richards responded:

“Now that is something I wouldn’t be able to comment on.”

That is certainly a very intriguing answer. She was subsequently asked if she’d ever consider a return to acting, and said she would “if the right project comes along.”

With Laura Dern, Sam Neill, and Jeff Goldblum confirmed to return for major roles in Jurassic World: Dominion next summer, could an even further Jurassic reunion be in store? And in light of producer Frank Marshall’s hints that Dominion won’t be the end but the “start of a new era,” could there be a return in mind for Lex in future Jurassic projects? We’ll have to wait and see.

Excitement is high for the return of Jurassic Park‘s ‘big three’, and the possibility of Richards’ return only heightens that anticipation. We’d love to see her return, and perhaps with her brother Tim! No matter what’s in store, we celebrate the amazing Ariana Richards and wish her continued success.

BD Wong Shares His Appreciation for JURASSIC PARK and Excitement for JURASSIC WORLD: DOMINION!

Jurassic Park and Jurassic World icon BD Wong (Dr. Henry Wu himself) recently joined the Lights, Camera, Barstool podcast for an interview about his life, directing and acting, and of course, Jurassic.

The interview discussed what it’s like to be an actor and director in today’s world, the classic nature of Jurassic Park, and most excitingly BD’s thoughts and excitement for next summer’s Jurassic World: Dominion.

Before we move on: This interview contains mild spoilers for Jurassic World: Dominion. If you don’t wish to see them, we advise not reading further.

When asked if he had a different appreciation for Jurassic Park as a cornerstone of cinema after all this time, he responded:

“I would say I do have a growing appreciation, and there’s a kind of depth to that appreciation. I started out doing the first movie and I didn’t take it seriously at all. First of all, it didn’t feel like I was taken seriously as a character in that first movie; they didn’t explain what happened to that person. And the fact that they didn’t explain what happened to that person opened the door for him to return… So their negligence actually became something that was an opportunity for me. And now I’ve done three more of these Jurassic World films, the third one just having been completed.”

Continuing on about his character in Jurassic World: Dominion:

“In the arc (of the Jurassic World films), the filmmakers have a real allegiance to the character, a real affection for him, and want that arc to be satisfying to the fans. And so I feel that effort being made on his behalf, and I appreciate that because I didn’t want to just do the same thing every single time. I feel like it evolves, and it evolves to a very satisfying place to me. He had this incredibly epic death in the book that just never really got delivered in the first movie. And so now we have this, no spoilers, but, this resolution and an ending that is really satisfying to me.”

When asked about the scale of Jurassic World: Dominion and if he could tease it at all, he said:

“I’m not allowed to give spoilers, but I will say – it is bigger. Like, they really wanted to go out with a bang, and they made the last one really big. I think it’s bigger and longer and more like a ‘film’ than just ‘another installment of‘… All the principles from Jurassic Park are in it. Laura Dern, Sam Neill, and Jeff Goldblum are in it, and they’re not just like ‘Oh, look, there they are.’ They’re playing leading parts in the movie. So there’s Bryce and Chris Pratt who are the Jurassic World couple, and then there are these three honorary, huge, iconic characters that are coming back, resolving their relationships and their relationships to the whole conundrum of dinosaurs existing… and so it’s kinda big! There’s a weight to it that I like thinking about.”

Wong also spoke to the unique nature of production during the pandemic, saying:

“It was the first movie that came back into production after the movies all shut down last year, and that was meaningful because it set up a lot of protocols that are still being used today and that were so important to getting the industry back on its feet… The side effect of that for us was that we were all quarantined in the same hotel, and there was this kind of ‘team spirit’ feeling that came as a result of that… We were all there, working on the same scene the night of the election… and so that was memorable.”

And continuing about the scale of the film:

“But it is big… Every single person who has gone in to the studio to re-record their lines – it’s called looping – gets to see, like three minutes of the film. Every single person has come back to the group text that we have saying, “Guys, this is incredible. Like, incredibly beautifully shot and, you know, really epic. And I can’t believe that it’s even more than the other two were before it.”

All in all, Wong seemed extremely grateful to be able to revisit a character decades later and to be a part of the Jurassic franchise as a whole. It is thrilling to hear his excitement and affection for Jurassic World: Dominion and the Jurassic franchise.

New Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous LEGO Sets Available Now!

This set includes mini-figures of Camp Cretaceous‘ Darius and Jurassic World‘s Owen Grady, a baby triceratops, and a fantastic T. rex fossil display in a setting that resembles a natural history museum. Other items included are a fossil diagram, museum equipment, and a dinosaur egg.

Next up is the Carnotaurus Dinosaur Chase set:

This set features mini-figures of Camp Cretaceous‘ Kenji and Sammy being pursued by a Carnotaurus in a vehicle that directly resembles those used by camp counselors in Camp Cretaceous. Close behind in a Jurassic World helicopter is a mini-figure of Owen Grady, seemingly launching a non-lethal round at the Carnotaurus.

Then comes the Baryonyx Dinosaur Boat Escape set:

This set includes mini-figures of Camp Cretaceous‘ Darius and Yaz and Jurassic World‘s Owen Grady, a Jurassic World “guard”, a Baby Velociraptor, and a full size Baryonyx whose coloring resembles that of Grim from Camp Cretaceous. Darius, Owen, and the Guard are being menaced by the Baryonyx on a boat marked “28” in the Jurassic World colors next to the staple T. rex logo. Yaz is in pursuit on a small boat with the Baby Velociraptor and what seem to be multiple dinosaur eggs.

Next is the Stygimoloch Dinosaur Escape set:

This set features mini-figures of Camp Cretaceous‘ Ben and Brooklynn and Jurassic World‘s Claire Dearing, a Baby Ankylosaurus, and a Stygimoloch. Claire is driving a vehicle that resembles those used in Camp Cretaceous behind the escaping Stygimoloch while Brooklynn prepares to fire a tranquilizer at the dino. Ben, however, is doing his own thing with his baby ankylosaur pal near a very cool tree-slide construction.

Jurassic Park ‘FINAL SCENE RAY ARNOLD’ Comic-Con Set Coming to Mattel Creations July 22nd!

“Hold on to your butts!“

This year’s San Diego Comic-Con exclusive Jurassic Park toy set is bringing to life a never-before-seen moment from the original Jurassic Park film: Ray Arnold’s untimely demise.

In the climax of Jurassic Park, Ray Arnold volunteers to journey to the maintenance shed to reset and restore power to the park. We never fully witness his unfortunate fate, but Dr. Ellie Sattler discovers what has happened to him all the same.

“Theoretically, yes, but we’ve never shut down the entire system before. It may not come back on at all.”

The folks at Mattel Creations have done a fantastic job – this set truly spares no expense. It features a highly posable, 3.75-inch version of Ray Arnold himself (complete with detachable arm) and a 2.4-inch tall, 7-inch long vicious velociraptor so that fans can imagine and play out Ray’s final moments. Completing the set is the full control panel from the film, which serves as a stand for Ray and the raptor and also plays audio of his best quotes from the film.
