Universal Studios Hollywood May Re-theme Jurassic Park: The Ride to Jurassic World According to Rumor

Might we finally get a Jurassic World themed attraction at Universal Studios theme parks?

Yes! Well maybe….kind of? According to a rumor from Theme Park University, Universal Studios Hollywood may be gearing up to transform Jurassic Park: The Ride into a Jurassic World themed ride.

It’s been made public that Comcast wants a new attraction in every Universal park every year moving forward….Which brings us to 2019. If what I’m hearing from folks who work at Universal Studios Hollywood is correct, Jurassic Park: The Ride will be operational through at least part (most?) of the summer season and then close to make a transformation into a Jurassic World The Ride attraction.

While nothing is official and any report should of course be taken fully as a rumor, it does make sense for Universal Studios Hollywood to update Jurassic Park: The Ride. Having opened in June of 1996, the ride will be entering its 22nd year of operation. As pointed out by Theme Park University the animatronic dinosaurs in the ride have become quite dated and are in the need of a major upgrade so a Jurassic World revamp may also indicate new upgraded animatronics.

Further, this aligns with reports we heard some time back, suggesting a makeover was planned (then at IOA rather than Hollywood), re-branding the area to Jurassic World, complete with a state of the art Indominus Rex animatronic. If the general concept still stands, while the ride will take place within ‘Jurassic World’, Jurassic Park should still make an appearance as the ride vehicle is diverted through the old park ruins.

Our speculation would be that it is likely that the ride itself would remain the same as a boat on the same track but that the theming, dinosaurs and ride story would be new (while still following the same basic story structure). It is also likely that the new ride would not only include the Indomnius Rex from the 2015 film, but also Velociraptor Blue and a Mosasaurus cameo. Finally, the old dinosaurs are expected to get entirely new fixtures, featuring actual film accurate designs.

It is unclear if dinosaurs or aspects from the yet unreleased Fallen Kingdom would be included in any possible revamp.

Sadly, this does mean the great ‘Jurassic Park’ theming for the rest of the ride and area would switch to the more modern ‘World’ look – as World borrows from real world parks like Universal and Disney, it offers less of a unique sense of escapism. It remains to be seen how they will keep Jurassic unique, in line with its more safari adventure vibe it is known for, and is currently featuring.

Theme Park University also says that they are hearing this will only be for Universal Studios Hollywood and that currently the Jurassic Park ride at Islands Of Adventure in Flordia won’t be changing.

Also make sure to check out the full rumor article at Theme Park University as they make guesses and speculate themselves of what a Jurassic World themed ride may entail.

Chronicle Collectibles Debut Sick Triceratops for Jurassic Park’s 25th!

Now that I see her she’s the most beautiful thing I ever saw…

Chronicle Collectibles are fulfilling Dr. Alan Grant’s collectible wishes this year, with the announcement of their first Jurassic Park 25th Anniversary item – the Sick Triceratops.

io9 first reported the announcement of this 1:35 scale model, which measures 13″ long, 11″ wide and 4″ tall. Check out the piece below!

The model will set you back $449 but as with every release from Chronicle, there are multiple payment plans available to ensure you can obtain one of these limited edition pieces.

The pre-orders began today for the item – while there is currently not an official number count, these pieces are limited edition and will likely sell out relatively quick, so hit up the official page here with more photos, information and details on how to pre-order!

For many Jurassic Park fans, the reveal of the Sick Triceratops remains one of the most iconic scenes in the entire film. The wonder and amazement in the eyes of Dr. Grant and Ellie as they gaze upon this ailing dinosaur are shared by us as the audience. The scene is fully convincing in making us believe dinosaurs roam the earth again; it’s one of the clearest examples of why cinema has such a powerful impact on us.

Now, fans can own a piece of that movie magic. Chronicle Collectibles presents to you the 1:35 scale Jurassic Park: Sick Triceratops Diorama, the first and only licensed high-end collectible for this beloved dinosaur.

To ensure we had the finest details correct, we brought in legendary dinosaur painter Steve Riojas to paint the masters to perfection. You will never a find a better licensed Sick Triceratops ever offered; we have poured our heart and soul into this piece to make it something fans will be proud to own and display.

Alongside this, Chronicle have announced a wealth of new items including a 1:1 scale The Lost World: Jurassic Park Velociraptor head bust molded and cast directly from a Stan Winston Studios original Velociraptor – meaning this is a screen accurate piece!

Last year the company released the same model with a Jurassic Park ‘Isla Nublar’ skin which quickly sold out. The piece weighs 72 pounds and measures in at 30″ tall – so this will dominate any room you showcase it in!

Fans of The Lost World can also revel in this model of InGen’s Pachycephalosaurus. For only $399 you can own this highly detailed cast of the defensive herbivore, molded directly from Stan Winston Studios’ maquettes, originally created for the Jurassic Park sequel.

This item is limited to only 150 pieces so if you are a true The Lost World fan (if you’re not, please close your web browser and re-evaluate your stance) this might be worth your pennies.

And of course, if you caught our article last week, the last (but certainly not least) of Chronicle’s latest Jurassic products is the bronze Tyrannosaurus Rex!

Adapted from their previous Breakout piece, this features a brand new streamlined base, putting the focus on the dinosaur with its bronze finish. Measuring in at 24″ long, 9″ wide and 10″ tall, and set on a 9″ diameter base, this piece is a must have!

Chronicle Collectibles have continued to knock it out of the park with their officially licensed Jurassic Park products and I’m excited to see more as we progress through the year! What items would you like to see Chronicle next debut?

Let us know in the comments section below, and be sure to give Chronicle a follow on their social media channels for more information on their products and some behind the scenes looks at their design process!

Survive Isla Nublar in ‘Jurassic Park: Danger!’ a New Board Game Coming May 2018!

As the celebration of Jurassic Park’s 25th anniversary stomps onward, and the release of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom crawls ever nearer, the merchandise news continues to break out!

In the latest dino-filled update unearthed, we’re met with a welcome surprise: a new board game based on the original Jurassic Park film. Welcome to ‘Jurassic Park: Danger!‘, a 2-5 player adventure survival game. Thanks to Board Game Geek, we have the first images and information:

Designed by Forrest-Pruzan Creative, who have released games such as ‘Harry Potter Hogwarts Battle’ and ‘Cranium Cariboo’, and published by Ravensburger, ‘Jurassic Park: Danger!’ is slated to release May of this year. Recommended for ages 10 and up, with an average playtime of 50 minutes onward, the games official description is as follows:

The first visitors have arrived at Jurassic Park to see its miraculous dinosaurs firsthand, but chaos has hit Isla Nublar: The power is out, and the prehistoric creatures are on the hunt!

In Jurassic Park: Danger! Adventure Strategy Game, one player controls the T. Rex, Dilophosaurus, and Velociraptor, prowling through the jungle to attack the humans. The other players team up as characters from the classic movie, struggling to get Jurassic Park back online and escape the island before they fall prey to old-time predators!

Beyond the description available, little is known about how the game will play, but the concept of pitting players playing as the Jurassic Park guests vs the escaped dinosaurs is recipe for exciting fun. Intriguingly, Mondo have also announced a game based on Jurassic Park called ‘The Chaos Gene‘ with a similar sounding play style releasing this year.

How the games differ remains to be seen, but one thing is for certain: we’re in for a wild year of Jurassic jubilee – I cannot remember the last time two original Jurassic games released anywhere near one another.

2018 is shaping up to be an amazing time to be a Jurassic fan! I know I cannot wait to get my hands on this game and try it out with friends, or even fellow Jurassic community members. Not only does the game sound fantastic, the artwork is phenomenal, and is sure to attract collectors with that element alone. Be sure to keep your eyes on Jurassic Outpost, as more information on ‘Jurassic Park: Danger!’ is sure to come soon, whether at New York Toy Fair or elsewhere.

Will you be picking up ‘Jurassic Park: Danger!’? Sound off in the comments below, and stay tuned for everything Jurassic!

Factory Entertainment Announce New Jurassic Park Products Ahead of New York Toy Fair!

In the ever ramping-up recent trend of Jurassic World toy and merchandise reveals, Factory Entertainment has thrown their hat in the ring. While they’re no newcomer to Jurassic, their latest reveals break into new territory.

Yesterday, Factory Entertainment took to social media to announce REVOs (“revolutionary vinyls”) ahead of New York Toy Fair, a line of vinyl figures based on popular film properties such as IT, The Wizard of Oz, Justice League, and of course, Jurassic Park. While yesterday’s reveal was just a tease at what’s to come, we have the exclusive first look at Jurassic Park REVOs mockups!

Sneak peek at WIP rendered mockups – subject to change

About the toys (via Action Figure Insider):

“Unlike any other popular vinyl figures, REVOs™ incorporate Factory Entertainment’s special “spin”– MOVEMENT. The secret—a proprietary, self-righting mechanism built into the base of every REVO™, which allows the figure to revolve, rock and wobble. Movingly charming, you can face your favorite characters off against each other in head to head REVO™ battles and/or build a pop-culture army that’s always on the move. You can spin’em, rock‘em, knock’em and revolve‘em , but you literally can’t put them down!”

REVOs stand about 4 inches tall, with an SRP of $11.99, and are expected to be available the third quarter of 2018. While the sneak peek above gives an awesome first look at the Jurassic portion of the lineup, you’ll have to wait until New York Toy Fair for actual product images, where the first prototypes are expected to debut.

Factory Entertainment additionally provided us with a first look at their prototype Jurassic Park Raptor Claw Bottle Opener, also expected to debut at New York Toy Fair. This particular collectible targets older fans, and would be right up Alan Grants alley – I know it’s something I also plan to pick up!

Finally, the Factory Entertainment Jurassic Park Gates set is expected to be shown off at NYTF, which was previously announced during San Diego Comic Con 2017. The model shown off above is an earlier prototype, and will likely see small revisions in its Toy Fair unveil (where pricing and availability should also become known).

Factory Entertainment has numerous Jurassic collectibles available now, and you can shop their lineup at Entertainment Earth here, as well as check out what Amazon has to offer here!

Sound off in the comments below, and let us know what you think of the Factory Entertainment REVOs and more! As always stay tuned for the latest news – a new Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom trailer is expected to debut during the Super Bowl (February 4th), and Toy Fair is soon after.

New Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom Merchandise Revealed at London Toy Fair!

Today officially marks the start of London Toy Fair at the Olympia London, and while it’s a bit early for major new reveals, some Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom products were put on display.

Thanks to Thomas Fishenden of Jurassic Park Podcast, pictures and details of the publicly revealed items are available! While most are placeholder images, it’s still exciting to see and hear about some of the new products hitting shelves this April – even if the majority remain tightly locked behind closed paddock doors.

Fallen Kingdom Merchandise Key Art Mural

The largest Jurassic product display came from Clementoni – a company that specializes in puzzles and STEM (Science, Technology, Education and Math) toys. Their product range varied from paleontology kits, to complex puzzles. The former consisted of Velociraptor (£14.99) , Tyrannosaurus Rex (£24.99), and a 3-in-1 (Rex, Ticeratops, and Pteranodon – £29.99) excavation kits – allowing kids to both unearth the faux dino fossils, and assemble them for display.

While the box art utilizes placeholder art to avoid spoilers, it’s still exciting to get a general sense of the product style.

The three puzzle sets Clementoni had on display (£14.99 each) were an ‘impossible’ puzzle, a panorama, and general 104-piece set. They’re pictured below, and again are using placeholder images for rough mock-ups.

Other Jurassic plush products were on display at Posh Paws, but images were not allowed. The range consisted of cute plushie dinosaurs that were stylized in a similar style to those sold for the first Jurassic World. Finally, Funko had a booth at toy fair, and while they did not have Jurassic items on display, they shared that more products and exclusives for the Jurassic Park and World Pop lines were on their way!

In case you need a refresher, check out the recently revealed Jurassic Park Funko Pops – they’re also listed below with pre-order links!

It’s an exciting time to be a Jurassic fan and collector, and with New York Toy Fair right around the corner, it seems safe to assume even more reveals are coming soon.

As always, stay tuned for more on everything Jurassic Park and Jurassic World, and sound off in the comments below to tell us what you want to see from the upcoming merchandise!

Official Images of the Jurassic Park Funko Pop Line Have Arrived! (Updated with exclusives)

At long last, official images of the Funko Pop Jurassic Park line have arrived!

Just days ago, we had a sneak peak at the product range via conceptual artwork that was released, and now final products have been revealed! This marks the first toy range released for the first Jurassic Film since the Kenner toys in 1993, and arrives just in time for the 25th Anniversary celebration, which the box art showcases.

Take a look at the images first spotted by Funko Pop Hunters, and read on for the update from Funko!

The lineup is everything I wanted from Funko (minus Ellie not getting a stand-alone figure… and not even being mentioned by name on her packaging), and I am incredibly excited to pick up the set. This will be my first foray into Funko collecting, but assuming Funko aspires to live by the words of John Hammond, and continues to spare no expense, it will not be my last.

Also, great news for the Jurassic super fans – the concept art omitted the Velociraptors sickle claw, but the final toy rectified this error! The only change needed for absolute accuracy would be the Jeeps number, which should be #10 – the open top vehicle with the tool box in the back.

Shortly after we initially ran this article, Funko released a blog post featuring more information about the line – one highlight being shirtless Malcolm (above). Check out the image below of the entire exclusive and chase lineup!

The full list is as follows, with links to pre-orders:

The Jurassic Park Funko Pops release this February, so keep your eyes open! More Pops are certainly on the way, as a Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom line is expected – and perhaps a wave 2 for Jurassic Park, featuring Robert Muldoon, Donald Gennaro, Ray Arnold, Tim, and Lex.

As always, stay tuned for the latest news, and let us know what you think of the Funko Pops in the comments below!

This Jurassic Park Power Wheels Jeep is the Toy You Always Wanted!

Did you ever want your very own Jurassic Park Jeep while growing up, but not find the right toy to scratch that itch? While Kenner sold a great action figure sized item, there was never a proper driveable vehicle for kids. Much to my disappointment, a Jurassic Jeep was not part of my life, though some kids with creative parents were more lucky.

Thankfully, 2018 has remedied this longstanding conflict for all.

The first Jurassic toy since Mattel snagged the license from Hasbro has been unveiled, and while it may not be what you expected, it’s a ton of fun. The reveal did not come from a press release, or trade show, but rather Walmart Canada, who already have the item for sale: the Fisher-Price Power Wheels Jurassic Park Jeep.

The Jeep pictured is #18, the vehicle Ellie, Grant, and Malcolm rode in to the park from the Helicopter. Oh how I wish I could have had this growing up. The official product description has this to say:

The Jurassic-Rex and velociraptors are on the loose! Your young adventurer knows just what to do—hop into their Power Wheels Jeep Wrangler vehicle and get moving! With awesome Jurassic Park graphics and styling, exciting dino-chase sounds, and a real working light bar, kids will feel like they’re driving the real thing! Racing at a max speed of 5 mph over hard surfaces and grass with Power-Lock brakes and a parent-controlled high-speed lock out, young off-roaders will love steering Jurassic adventures in this exciting ride-on!

Working lights, sounds, and a top speed of 5-mph? What’s not to love! Just don’t get chased by an actual Tyrannosaurus Rex at those speeds.

Speaking of highspeed T. rex chases, this Jeep also features a nod Jeep #10, which our heroes in Jurassic Park used to narrowly avoid being chomped by the most famous Tyrannosaur alive (sorry, Sue). Much like the iconic scene in the film where Roberta (Aka Rexy) is seen in the Wranglers mirrors roaring menacingly, this Power-Wheel vehicle features stickers of the iconic dino in the mirrors.

Be sure to check out Walmarts website for more images and to purchase the Jeep if it’s up your alley! This surely is not the only item coming from Mattel for Jurassic Parks 25th anniversary, prior to the Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom lineup – so stay tuned for more updates!

First Look at Jurassic Park Funko Pop Series!

Hot off the heels of yesterday’s merchandise art reveal, the toy news keeps coming.

We’ve known for a couple months now that Funko was taking a trip to Isla Nublar, and returning with a lineup of Pops based on Jurassic Park just in time for its 25th anniversary. Somewhat recently, retailers listed the lineup on their websites without images – and now finally Funko has released concept art based on the anticipated collectors range!

We’ll bring it up straight away – yes there is a Ellie Sattler figure!

Apologies to Funko for assuming they omitted her. However, only including her as a bundled character does feel rather shortsighted, and not doing her character nor general female representation justice.

The Jurassic Park Pop line is sure to enthrall collectors of Funko and the the film alike, and we’ve got to say they look great! As the Dilophosaurus is listed as ‘with chase’, it’s speculated there will also be a rarer version without the frill to hunt down. Further, perhaps there will be an individual version of Ellie Sattler, not tied to the Jurassic Jeep, exclusive to another retailer.

I know I personally love these, and they will be the first line of Funko’s I collect. The only thing in the concept art that throws me off, is it seems the Velociraptor is missing its sickle claw – but that’s something the final item will surely feature.

Further, the Jeep pictured with Ellie should be Jeep 10 (open top) – not Jeep 12 (closed top, which Dennis drove).

While not yet announced, Funko will certainly have a range based upon Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom in the near future as well – so this marks the start of a great collecting series. The Jurassic Park POP’s hitting to coincide with the 25th anniversary celebration are as follows:

Dr. Ian Malcolm
Shirtless Malcolm (Target exclusive)
Dr. Alan Grant
John Hammond
Dennis Nedry
Velociraptor
Dilophosaurus (1 in 6 chance for closed frill variant)
Tyrannosaurus Rex
Dennis Nedry (venom attack) w/ Dilophosaurus (Entertainment Earth exclusive – preorder now!)
Jurassic Park Jeep Vehicle w/ Ellie Sattler

The lineup releases March 15th, 2018 and for now, no images of the final toys are yet available – but stay tuned, it likely wont be long until they are formally unveiled. Be sure to sound off in the comments below, and let us know what you think of these and want to see next!

Thanks to popvinyls.com for first covering them, and Thomas Fishenden for sending them our way!
