Mondo to Release ‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’ on Vinyl!

No strangers to the Jurassic Franchise, Mondo have announced today the they will be offering Michael Giacchino’s ‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’ soundtrack as a 2 disc limited vinyl pressing. In record time too given the Official Release only dropped only days ago!

Mondo’s web exclusive version of this 2XLP comes pressed on either a stunning looking 180 Gram Indo-Raptor colored vinyl (Translucent Green with Orange Stripe and Yellow Splatter), or for the more reserved collector on traditional Black vinyl. Featuring original new artwork by JC Richard, this set will fit right in with Mondo’s previous Jurassic Park and World offerings.

Here’s what Mondo had to say about the score:

JURASSIC PARK: FALLEN KINGDOM is some of the most fun we’ve had in the theaters this year. And Giacchino’s score, which returns more to his penned JURASSIC WORLD score than the John Williams’ cues that bridged the gap in the last film, is evocative of classic Universal horror and haunted house movie scores, breaking from the pack of previous JURASSIC scores. Much like the film itself, Giacchino creates a fun, fresh take on the music of the “Man creates Dinosaurs… Dinosaurs eat Man” series.”

Hey Mondo? Can we get ‘The Lost World’ and ‘Jurassic Park III’ too please? The set goes up for sale this Wednesday at Noon (CST) over at MondoTees.com

The game is sure to provide all thrills and awe inspiring moments synonymous with Jurassic Park, and we cannot wait to go hands on!

Check out the full press release below:

Universal and The Virtual Reality Company (VRC) today announced Jurassic World VR Expedition, an interactive cinematic virtual reality (VR) game that transports players to the visually stunning jungles of Isla Nublar, where fans will engage in an epic rescue adventure inspired by the Jurassic World film series. Jurassic World VR Expedition makes its debut on June 14 at more than 100 Dave & Buster’s entertainment centers, making it the biggest location-based VR launch to date. The VR game launches ahead of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, which arrives in theaters on June 22, 2018.

The VRC development team includes several Academy Award®-winning and -nominated animators, visual effects artists, and technicians. Written and directed by James Lima, a multi-Emmy Award-nominated visual effects artist, and executive produced by VRC co-founders Robert Stromberg, a two-time Academy Award winner®, and entertainment executive Guy Primus, Jurassic World VR Expedition boasts an all-new approach to VR.

Up to four people at a time can put on an HTC VIVE™ headset and enter the Dave & Buster’s state-of-the-art VR motion simulator, where they will be transported into what remains of Jurassic World for a five-minute suspenseful, awe-inspiring expedition. There, they will rescue dinosaurs that were freely roaming Isla Nublar at the end of the last chapter of Jurassic World.

“Jurassic World VR Expedition is the ultimate wish fulfilled,” said Jurassic World VR Expedition Director James Lima. “We wanted to take people to Isla Nublar and visit Jurassic World, and here is where the power of VR presents its potential as a medium that is an extension of the film.”

“What we have done for this project is groundbreaking,” added The Virtual Reality Company Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer Robert Stromberg. “It represents a remarkable departure from the traditional approach to combining VFX and gameplay in VR. To achieve the level of cinematic visual integrity we would like to see in VR, we integrated a variety of filmmaking techniques to help complement established entertainment software approaches.”

Jurassic World VR Expedition is the latest in a strategic expansion by Universal into gaming. Last year, Universal announced a significant build-up of its games team, as well as a more active approach and investment into game development. Jurassic World VR Expedition is the first VR production being released that is part of a bold portfolio of games rolling out in 2018 and beyond.

“For many, this will be their wondrous introduction to VR, and Jurassic World VR Expedition will transport fans in a more immersive way than they could imagine. Players will experience the dinosaurs—both the majestic and terrifying—first person,” said Chris Heatherly, Executive Vice President of Games and Digital Platforms, Universal Brand Development. “We are thrilled with the breathtaking visuals and cinematic experience that VRC has delivered, as well as by Dave & Buster’s bold step to make this experience available to such a broad audience.”

“The exclusive launch of Jurassic World VR Expedition at all Dave & Buster’s locations represents an incredible milestone for us as we aim to be at the forefront of location-based entertainment VR,” said Kevin Bachus, Senior Vice President, Entertainment & Games Strategy, Dave & Buster’s. “Our innovative, top-of-the-line simulators will provide fans with next-level immersion, putting them into Jurassic World for a breathtaking journey alongside the biggest creatures this world has ever known.”

Eager to try the latest Jurassic game installment? It makes its debut at the Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom Fan Fest June 13th, at the Walt Disney Concert Hall. Learn more about the Fan Fest venue here! To try Jurassic World VR Expedition eslewhere, players can find a Dave & Buster’s location in their area or through Vive’s Demo Locator. The game will be rolling out soon to additional location-based VR venues worldwide.

According to Variety, ‘in the coming months, VRC plans to work on refining “Jurassic World VR Expedition” with additional iterations, and also bring it to other locations both in the U.S. and internationally. The ultimate plan is to turn “Jurassic World VR Expedition” into a ride with longevity, said Robert Stromberg. “These types of experiences can last for years.”

This game is not to be mistaken for the cinematic Jurassic World: Blue, a free VR based experience that takes you to Isla Nublar and allows you to view key moments of Blue’s life prior Mount Sibos volcanic eruption. Both episodes of Jurassic World: Blue are available on the Oculus store now and are not to be missed!

Listen to the First Preview of Michael Giacchino’s Entire ‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’ Soundtrack!

Hold on to your butts, and grab a pair of headphones as you can now listen to the first previews of the Fallen Kingdom soundtrack!

The latest Jurassic Park sequel has already roared its way into overseas theaters, and one of the main things fans can’t stop talking about is the new soundtrack from Oscar-winner Michael Giacchino. Reprising his role of composer from Jurassic World, Giacchino has brought a darker style to the latest installment, embracing its extinction level and Gothic undertones. I’ve seen the film myself, and I cannot stop thinking about the music, and how badly I wish I had access to it already.

Thankfully, Entertainment Weekly has an exclusive first look at a track from the Fallen Kingdom Soundtrack! The new theme accompanies the opening of the film, and plays during some tense storm action at night prior to the title reveal.

Give “This Title Makes Me Jurassic” a listen below:

The Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom soundtrack hits stores next week, and features the following pun filled tracks:

26. At Jurassic World’s End Credits/Suite (10:55)

Previews for all these tracks are up on iTunes here, so get listening! While there are some returning themes, Giacchino offers many new flavours that are sure to turns some heads! If you need your regular dose of Jurassic however, I recommend giving the End Credits a listen!

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Giacchino had this to say:

“John Williams certainly set the tone, so I wanted to stay in that realm, but now here we are, five Jurassic Parks in, and I didn’t want to do the same thing I did on the last film. This film has a very different tone, so I basically went to the director, Juan Antonio Bayona, who I’ve known for many years, and said, ‘What if Bernard Hermann and Stravinsky had a baby who wrote the score for this film?’”

The ‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’ soundtrack releases June 15th, and is available for pre-order on Amazon now!

Be Sure to Stay Until the End of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’s Credits

This week, the park is in the past as Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom opens in overseas countries starting June 6th.

While its global release schedule in frustratingly staggered thanks to the World Cup, and will not release in some countries such as the United States until June 22nd, we are now beginning the roll-out of our film companion pieces. The first of which pertains to the subject of an after-credits scene, a staple the Marvel Cinematic Universe films have cemented into the expectations of audiences when it comes to tentpole franchises.

Though none of the past Jurassic Park films have featured a post credits scene, including 2015’s ‘World’, Fallen Kingdom upsets the trend adapting to the modern studio cinemascape. Not only do you want to stay seated through the credits to experience more of Michael Giacciano’s phenomenal score, and to see the names and duties of all the hardworking filmworkers who made the latest entry possible, but also to experience a stinger with a little extra dinosaur footage.

It’s worth noting that the scene in question does not set up the sequel in any way the footage before the credit roll did, nor does it include any surprise cameos and thus this addition to the film will perhaps spark debate among fans online. The scene is harmless in its contribution to the story, and the conversations about its necessity and impact or lack thereof will surely be frequent.

Personally, while I often believe if something isn’t broken, don’t fix it, I also do like the concept of the Jurassic films being less predictable in their format of storytelling. Although he stinger itself doesn’t have the impact of the epilogues in Chrichton’s novels, it is a small scene fans have wanted to see from the franchise for quite a few years.

Two New ‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’ Posters Debut Online!

Poster collectors are going to need a bigger wall.

Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom hits overseas theaters in a day, and to celebrate Universal Pictures have revealed two brand new posters! Both of the new posters are exclusive via ticket sale promotions and theater chains, Fandango and Dolby Cinemas respectively. Each poster has been seemingly designed with the fans in mind, and are fun new additions to Fallen Kingdom’s lineup.

The first poster is available now if you Pre-order your tickets through Fandango, and has been designed by fellow Jurassic superfan Nima Nakhshab. You may recognize Nima’s name as his fan posters in the past spread across social media like wildfire, and have been featured on our website numerous times. In an homage to his Star Wars style throwback poster, Nima has designed a dinosaur centric character collage with a vintage poster feel.

Check it out below, and visit Fandango to secure your free poster now!

The second poster revealed today is a more traditional and modern poster, and a huge step up from the other two theatrical posters (Stampede and Eruption) revealed months back. While it’s perhaps a bit cluttered, it feels more in tone with the films, and features Owen and Claire facing the Indoraptor and Baryonyx respectively, and of course has Blue front and center ready to attack. The composition and colors on this poster make it one of my favorites featured in cinemas, second only to the recently revealed IMAX poster.

Check it out below!

What’s your favorite Fallen Kingdom poster, and will you purchase tickets through Fandango to secure your copy designed by Nima? Sound off in the comments below, and hold on to your butts – life finds a way this week.

Fallen Kingdom tracking towards a $130-$150 Million domestic opening

Tickets for the domestic release of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom on June 22nd officially went on sale yesterday, and today the first box office tracking has been released. While tracking numbers are never 100% accurate it does typically give us a good idea of what to expect. According to initial data from Deadline, Fallen Kingdom is tracking to a domestic opening of around $130-$150 Million.

While this tracking obviously is far less than the $208.8 million opening of 2015’s Jurassic World, which was an opening weekend record at the time, it would still be considered a huge opening for any blockbuster. While we await to see what Disney’s Incredibles 2 opens to on June 15th, these trackings would give it the 3rd or 4th biggest opening of the year so far behind Avengers: Infinity War ($257.7 million), Black Panther ($202.0 million) and potentially Incredibles 2.

Something we must all keep in mind when it comes to tracking is that the potential is there for it to be way off. In 2015, the initial tracking numbers for Jurassic World were predicting an opening weekend of around $100 million and when the film was released it more than doubled that number. What a franchise like Jurassic thrives on most is walk-up ticket purchases, unlike a Star Wars or Marvel movie that typically do massive pre-sales. Walk-ups can really hurt tracking predictions because that is more based on pre-sale ticket purchases. That is not to say Fallen Kingdom will do twice as much as the tracking number, but it is a variable worth watching.

It also should be noted that a potential opening weekend of $130-$150 Million should not be considered a disappointment at all even though it will be less than Jurassic World’s opening. It still has a chance to claim the 2018 Summer opening weekend crown with those numbers (if you count Avengers: Infinity War as a Spring movie since it came out in April) and be the highest grossing movie of the Summer. Fallen Kingdom would still be a success, even if the opening weekend, domestic and worldwide numbers come in under what Jurassic World did. Our early guess based on these tracking numbers is that Fallen Kingdom might do more than $400 million domestically total and about $900 million-$1.2 billion worldwide, which would be a massive box office run for any movie, including a major franchise like Jurassic.

Domestically is not the only place where Fallen Kingdom is expected to do big numbers, Gavin Feng, who covers the Chinese Box Office is reporting that the film is tracking to an opening weekend in China of $105 million over three days. That would surpass the three day opening of $67.19 million for Jurassic World back in 2015. Fallen Kingdom opens in China on June 15th.

What do you think of the initial domestic opening tracking numbers? Does this seem lower, higher or about what you expected? How close do you think the actual opening weekend numbers might be to these tracking numbers? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below and on our forums.
