Adapt. Evolve. Survive. Everything’s at stake in the new ‘Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous’ season 2 trailer, which will drop on Netflix on January 22nd!
Last season ended with the Camp Cretaceous kids trying to escape the island, only to reach the dock and find out they had been left behind. In the season 2 trailer, we see Darius, Yaz, Brooklynn, Kenji, and Sammy working together to figure out how to survive on an island inhabited by dinosaurs. The group heads for Main Street to find a phone, only to find the T.rex has set up her new lair there! This season promises more human-dinosaur interactions (some filled with danger) including compys, brachiosaurus, T.rex, baryonyx, ceratosaurus, sinoceratops, parasaurolophus, ankylosaurus, and many more! The trailer doesn’t feature, possibly everyone’s favorite character, Bumpy, who we last saw approaching an unconscious Ben who was separated from the rest of the campers last season.
What challenges will the campers face in season 2? Will Ben and Bumpy reunite with the rest of the group? Who else is on the island?

“I don’t get it. It says InGen on the side of that ride vehicle!”
Universal Orlando Resort released a first look at what park guests will be riding in when the Jurassic World Velocicoaster becomes a reality next year:
The reveal video describes the vehicles as “designed for speed” and “engineered for the hunt”, seemingly comparing them to a predatory velociraptor pursuing its prey.
The ride vehicles are strikingly futuristic and feature sleek proportions, bright lights on the headrests and front areas, and a shiny canvas of that signature ‘Jurassic World’ blue. The iconic Jurassic T. rex skeleton logo and the InGen company logo adorn the side and rear sections of the vehicles.
Gregory Hall, who has been responsible for creative and art direction on the Velocicoaster, shared more official images of the ride vehicles on Twitter shortly after the announcement:
The ride vehicles certainly look to be equipped for top speeds that will excite theme park and Jurassic fans alike. While their design aligns with the bright, modern aesthetic of the Mercedes vehicles and other designs that we have seen in ‘Jurassic World’ and beyond, it is a bit distanced from the established rugged, jungle safari theme found in previous Jurassic rides and attractions.

Jurassic World: Dominion won’t hit theaters until June 2022, but we just got a large and very exciting update. While on the press tour for his upcoming movie ‘Rams’, Sam Neill (aka Dr. Alan Grant, the dinosaur man himself) revealed a giant surprise: the new big bad dinosaur of the third Jurassic World film will be none other than Giganotosaurus.
“I’ve just had the last five months working with dinosaurs, and it was really fun to do. We have a dinosaur called a Giganotosaurus … Apparently that’s the biggest dinosaur that’s ever been discovered. And, you know, it could eat you in a second if the guys on the controls didn’t like you.”
So, not only is a massive new dinosaur making its entrance into the Jurassic franchise, a full-size animatronic will make its presence even more terrifying in the film. As Neill said, the Giganotosaurus could swallow him whole if the team of puppeteers were feeling particularly murderous.
While Giganotosaurus has not yet appeared in a Jurassic Park or Jurassic World film, it is not without its heritage within the franchise. Most notably, early Indominus Rex designs, then known as the Malusaurus, looked strikingly similar to the towering titan.
The Giganotosaurus also appeared in early concept art for Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom.
Giganotosaurus was a Carcharodontosaur, one of the largest theropods to ever walk the earth. It lived roughly 98 million years ago, during the late Cretaceous period, and roamed what is now Argentina. Most modern estimates have it as large as a Tyrannosaur, though many posit that it grew even larger. Giganotosaurus didn’t live in the same time period or geographical area as T. rex, but we wouldn’t be surprised if this giant dinosaur crosses paths with a T. rex or another species now that it’s joining the roster of de-extinct creatures in the Jurassic franchise.
As for who cloned this dinosaur, we’re not sure, as it’s never appeared on InGen’s lists. However, its DNA contributing to the Indominus Rex suggests they at least had incomplete genomes of the animal. That being said, we firmly believe this animal is not from InGen’s lab, and is likely BioSyn’s crowned gem.

After 18 months of filming amidst stringent Covid-19 safety protocols and countless delays, Jurassic World Dominion has officially wrapped. Director Colin Trevorrow took to social media today announcing the news and praising the hard work his cast and crew contributed to the project.
While speaking with reporters with Deadline, Trevorrow said “there are a lot of emotions” involved with wrapping this movie. He says he is grateful to everyone who worked on the film and felt they all “made a family.” “I’m not sure I can put it into words,” continues Trevorrow. “It has been remarkable. Our crew and our cast has been so resilient. All producers have worked around the clock to make it the best it can be. It has been inspiring.”

Dominion was famously the first major studio film to go back into production despite the ongoing pandemic. In an effort to promote safety and keep workers healthy, Universal spent roughly 7 million dollars on increased safety protocols alone.
These precautions included: 1,800 Covid-related signs across production studios, 150 hand sanitizer stations, and a commissioned private medical facility overseeing the entire project. Over 40,000 Covid-19 tests were administered with only .25% returning positive over the course of the shoot.
In a bit of rumor news, the Deadline article also reports that newcomer DeWanda Wise “could have a big role in future instalments.” What those installments look like is anyone’s guess at this point, but it leaves us hopeful for the future of Jurassic storytelling. The film is set to release June 10, 2022. Trevorrow has also been notably gracious to fans around Thanksgiving in previous years, so be on the lookout for a drop of potential footage around then.

The people of Singapore will be getting a fun surprise this November as Universal brings a Jurassic World themed restaurant to ION Sky, a popular tourist destination in the capital city. Located 56 floors up in the ION Orchard shopping mall, the dino-centered pop-up will serve premium menu items amongst the backdrop of the Singapore city skyline.
The new diner will feature a variety of Jurassic themed menu offerings, including a Jurassic World Burger, Volcano Curry, and Nasi Lemak. Keep an eye out for some fancy dessert choices too, like Geologic Parfaits and Lava Cookies.
The restaurant also plans to offer more festive themed dishes as we approach the Christmas season. Limited edition merchandise will also be available for purchase, including LEGO sets, keychains, and Snap Squad figures.

Ok, so let’s get the inevitable out of the way – while this is on the set of the third Jurassic World film, and he is in costume, this picture is clearly something they staged for fun and is not in the movie. That said, if they somehow found a way to pull it off we might allow it. Now that we’ve got that out of the way, let’s just appreciate how full on classic Jurassic the chaotician looks here.
Baryonyx, Ceratosaurs, and Tyrannosaurs – oh my! The trailer for Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous Season 2 is here, and it is not shy about bringing new dinosaur species to the table.
Making its debut ahead of the New York Comic Con panel later today, the trailer is available on YouTube below:
As we predicted in our recent season two video, we will be seeing the original T. rex on Main Street, and we can see that the campers do indeed head back there, and spend some time in T. rex Kingdom.
A Baryonyx was also revealed in the teaser, and this ties to the recent Mattel toy reveals showing three individual Baryonyx – Grim, Limbo, and Chaos.
The gang may have survived the initial Indominus Rex attack, but they now have a lot more to contend with in the deep jungles of Isla Nublar. With the security systems down and the fences broken, dinosaurs are now free.
One of the species making an appearance will be the Ceratosaurus who first made her appearance in everybody’s favourite Jurassic Park 3.

Just one day after the news broke that Jurassic World: Dominion would be shifting it’s release date a full year to June 10, 2022, director Colin Trevorrow took to Twitter today to announce that production was hitting “pause” for two weeks after what appears to be a few false positive tests for the Coronavirus on set.
Woke up to the news we had a few positive Coronavirus tests on Jurassic World: Dominion. All tested negative shortly after, but due to our safety protocols we’re going to pause for two weeks. Back soon. pic.twitter.com/DxuqX9UdgX
The good news it that those that tested positive were re-tested and tested negative, so that would mean there is no actual current spread of the virus on set. However due to the safety protocols that Universal spent $5 million to set up, it seems it requires production to be suspended automatically for two weeks.
Any stoppage for production is not good and I am sure is annoying for the filmmakers, but the good news is this should have little to no impact on the film itself. There are only three weeks of shooting left and even with this delay, will still be wrapped up be early November. With the release date change to 2022 they will have far more than enough time for post-production.
Included with Trevorrow’s tweet about the production “pause” was what appears to be an animatronic Lystrosaurus (wearing a mask). With little hairs on the skin, this mammal-like reptile lived 250 million years ago in the the late Permian and Early Triassic periods. Could this be something that Lewis Dodgson cooked up in his Biosyn lab? (UPDATE: Director Colin Trevorrow confirmed on Twitter it is indeed a Lystrosaurus)

As we speculated yesterday as a possibility became a reality today, as Jurassic World: Dominion has changed it’s release date. Originally slated for June 11, 2021, the film will now come out one year later on June 10, 2022. The news of the film changing dates was first reported by Variety and later confirmed by the official Jurassic World Twitter and Director Colin Trevorrow.
“Jurassic World: Dominion,” which shut down filming in March due to the pandemic, was one of the first major movies to resume production. The studio took intense measures to keep the set free of coronavirus, including frequent testing, temperature checks and isolating the cast. The cost of these protocols are expected to run in the $5 million range, according to insiders. “Jurassic World: Dominion” hasn’t completed filming yet, though sources say its about three weeks from wrapping.

Included with the news of the new date, the first official teaser poster was released as seen above. Featuring the classic black backdrop of the previous films teaser posters, it features a large circle made of amber with the iconic T. rex skeleton.
The poster also lists the extremely large cast across the top including Jurassic World stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard and also Jurassic Park stars Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum. Our opinion is this is a very nice teaser poster and one that will for sure get fans excited. It is a simple design but very effective.

While it is likely the news of the delay is disappointing for fans, it will not only hopefully allow the movie theater landscape to recover from the pandemic, but it will also give the filmmakers extra post-production time to bring us the absolute best version of the movie as possible and not rush special effects to meet an accelerated deadline.

June 11, 2021. That was the release date announced for Jurassic World: Dominion back in February of 2018, nearly four months before Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom even hit global theaters. Here we are a little over two and a half years later and that still remains the scheduled release date. But could a change for the release date be on the horizon? There has been no official word or announcement for a change, but we strongly feel that something is likely inevitable for several reasons.
Before we dive into why we feel a change of the release date is coming, let’s first note that the date of June 11, 2021 is a perfect date for Dominion as it is exactly 28 years after the original film, Jurassic Park, hit theaters on June 11, 1993. Viewed as the conclusion of a six film story arc, though more films in the series are likely to come, Dominion sharing the June 11th date with the original film gave the fans a little extra nostalgic excitement.
So why might Dominion decide to shift dates? The biggest factor is Covid-19, the virus that has spread around the world causing the current pandemic this planet is dealing with. Movie theaters have closed for extended periods of time, some have re-opened only to close again and some have shut their doors for good as they couldn’t handle the financial blow. Film studios have delayed most films scheduled to hit theaters in 2020 and all films currently under production shut down in March, and only a few have resumed filming.
Dominion was no different as they had to shut down production on March 13th and after spending $5 million for new safety protocols that included testing of cast and crew on a consistent basis and constantly sanitizing the set, production resumed on July 6th. It was actually the first major Hollywood film to resume filming, and a few others started back up shortly after. As of today it is believed that Dominion has only a few more weeks of filming and should be wrapped by the end of October. There have been no major delays since filming resumed in July, but that has not been the case of all Hollywood movies that returned. Shortly after resuming, Warner Brothers’ The Batman had to re-shut down production for a couple weeks after star Robert Pattinson got Covid-19.
The four month delay in filming alone for Dominion had many fans and media outlets speculating that the film might see a delay in it’s theatrical release. Director Colin Trevorrow just last month though told the French entertainment website Premiere that the filming schedule remained right on time despite the four month postponement. Coupled with the fact that filming has seemed to run smoothly since returning and Universal has maintained June 11, 2021 as the release date, it has a lot of people thinking the film will still hit on that date.
So it seems the film itself has enough time to be finished properly in time for June, but there are several more factors that might just knock it out of that spot. Another major reason is all the shifting of films that were scheduled for 2020 that are now in 2021 and other films in 2021 that have been delayed weeks and months. For the most part film studios, when shifting their other films, have steered clear of Dominion’s release date. However some news that broke just a few days ago could be one of the biggest signs of a potential move as Fast and Furious 9, which originally was scheduled for this past May, had been delayed until April 2021 but now has shifted again to May 28, 2021. That is only two weeks prior to Dominion’s release.
That is a potential big deal as Fast and Furious 9 is also a Universal Pictures film and the idea that studio would release films from their two biggest franchises just 14 days apart seems extremely unlikely. Especially not when both films, in a non-pandemic world are all but guaranteed to gross $1 billion+ worldwide. There might be a chance Universal could be OK with the third weekend of Fast and Furious 9 going against the opening weekend of Dominion, but the potential box office haul for both films could take a hit as both films have a similar target audience. That doesn’t seem like something a studio would be willing to risk with two of their own films when they could easily put a bigger span of weeks between releases. Which makes us think that Universal might have already decided to relocate Dominion to a later date prior to announcing the Fast and Furious 9 date shift, but has yet to publicly announce it.
The other big factor is the movie theater landscape itself. Many theaters are struggling to stay afloat and with Disney moving tentpole films, like Black Widow to 2021, some are expected to close and might never re-open. There was talk earlier this year that almost 40% of all movie theaters in China might close permanently and there is a fear that could also be the case domestically. A lot of theaters that are still open, showing the one or two new films that did release recently or pulling classic films out the archive are operating at limited capacity, most seemingly in the 25% range. If the pandemic is not completely over by June 2021, and that means a global vaccine that is deemed safe and easily readily available to everyone, theaters might remained closed or continue to operate a low capacity. For a film like Dominion that would likely be expected to have a domestic opening north of $150 million or possibly even closer to $200 million, that could greatly damage those returns. Would Universal be better to delay the film’s release until after pandemic and get the full opening or settle for an opening that sadly might be 25-50% of what it could have made?
The best possible news for Dominion in this current world we live in is that like we noted above, filming is likely to wrap by the end of the month. As long as filming faces no major bumps during these next few weeks, the film will be in the can and it goes completely into post-production. Productions that are still underway or in pre-production have the biggest uncertainty as they never know if Covid-19 might them and force a shut down or potentially force certain films to never even be made. There will be some relief that that all that will remain is post-production and the sets, locations, tight quarters of filming will be concluded.
If Dominion does indeed shift dates as we feel there is a strong chance it will, when might we see it in theaters? There are a few options that could prove to be more ideal. Could it move one month into July? Maybe not, unless other films move again, as July 2021 is pretty much jammed pack with the likes of Top Gun: Maverick, Minions: The Rise of Gru, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Jungle Cruise. After July, a blockbuster the size of a Jurassic film would likely either shift to the following Summer or maybe go a different route and target the Holiday season.
Universal’s marketing could choose to use the icy locals of Dominion to help push the film into the cold months of November or December. Avatar 2 was originally scheduled for December 17, 2021 but has since moved to December 16, 2022 because of Covid-19 related delays to their production. While the third Spider-Man film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe moved into the December 17th date currently, if Dominion would decide to move there, it is likely Spider-Man would shift again.
The safest move and the one that probably makes the most sense is for Dominion to just move completely out of 2021 and shift an entire year. In May of this year, during the height of the pandemic, Universal made sure to claim the date of June 10, 2022 for an “event film”. It almost feels like Universal might have been thinking ahead for Jurassic, claiming the second Friday in June, just like 1993’s Jurassic Park and 2015’s Jurassic World had. While a full year delay would greatly disappoint fans, especially since the film will enter post-production next month and the release would change from being just 8 months away to 20 months away. But it wouldn’t be an unheard of move in Hollywood right now, films such as Black Widow, Jungle Cruise, Fast and Furious 9, A Quiet Place Part II, Godzilla Vs Kong and Halloween Kills to name a few all moved a year or more due to the pandemic.
Right now the release date remains June 11, 2021, but there are some signs starting to mount that it might not remain there. Do you think it will keep it’s current release date?
