‘Jurassic World: Dominion’ Eyeing July to Resume Filming

The production for the sixth Jurassic film, Jurassic World: Dominion has been suspended since March 14th due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, but could there finally be a light at the end of the tunnel?

In an interview with Jurassic Park, Jurassic Park III and Jurassic World: Dominion actor Sam Neill, The Guardian reports that the “hope” is that filming can resume this upcoming July.

The actor and his latest team of Jurassic co-stars were due to start filming in England on Jurassic World III this month, until the pandemic struck, but he said there is still hope that some work can resume in July.

It should be noted that while they’re targeting a July start date, the entire situation remains fluid and unique – meaning further delays may occur to better protect the health and safety of cast and crew, and to fully realize the original vision of the film.

The film still holds it’s June 11, 2021 release date but it remains to be seen if that date will stick. It is likely a short pause of filming could have been handled, but a July re-start will be almost a four month delay. Though it should be noted that Universal Pictures has staked out claim for June 10, 2022 for an “Untitled Universal Event Film”, which very well may be the latest Jurassic Park films new home.

What are your thoughts on filming possibly resuming for Jurassic World: Dominion in July? Do you think that is too soon, or could it even be earlier?Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

Jake Johnson and Omar Sy returning for Jurassic World 3

Lowery Cruthers and Barry Sembène are back! Collider has exclusively learned and reported that both Jake Johnson and Omar Sy will be reprising their roles in 2021’s Jurassic World 3. The report has since been confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter and director Colin Trevorrow himself!

Jake Johnson and Omar Sy, who co-starred in 2015’s Jurassic World, are set to reprise their roles in Colin Trevorrow‘s Jurassic World 3, Collider has exclusively learned.

We have not seen Jake Johnson’s Lowery or Omar Sy’s Barry since the collapse of the Jurassic World theme park in 2015, so it will be interesting to see what they have been up to during the six year span between on screen appearances. Will Blue remember her trainer who worked alongside Owen Grady? Does Lowery still have his collection of toy dinosaurs and poor taste t-shirts?

The cast for Jurassic World 3, which has a yet to be announced official title, is shaping up to have a Jurassic sized cast of returning stars and characters. In addition to Jake Johnson and Omar Sy returning, the 6th Jurassic film will also see the return of Bryce Dallas Howard, Chris Pratt, BD Wong, Danielle Pineda, Justice Smith, Isabella Sermon and original Jurassic Park trilogy stars Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum. Joining the Jurassic film franchise family for the first time are Mamoudou Athie and DeWanda Wise.

Jurassic World 3 to film in the Mediterranean

The theme park dinosaurs of Jurassic World are spreading to Europe, well at least the film crew is. According to a report from newsmalta, the production for Jurassic World 3 is set to film on the Mediterranean island country of Malta later this year!

As pointed out by our friends at The Jurassic Park Podcast, other productions such as Assassin’s Creed, 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi, Murder on the Orient Express and Game Of Thrones have previously filmed on the island country. Now will Malta serve as a backdrop for a return to Isla Nublar or even Isla Sorna? Or could it be an all new locale for the franchise? All that will eventually be answered as production begins and eventually with the film’s release on June 11, 2021.

Colin Trevorrow is returning to the director’s chair for the 6th installment of the franchise and the film will see the return of Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard along with the original 1993’s Jurassic Park cast of Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum.

What are your thoughts on Jurassic World 3 filming in Malta? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below and on our forums.

What is BATTLE AT BIG ROCK? New Mattel Toys Reveal Mysterious Jurassic World Spin-Off Title!

Yesterday, numerous fans of the Mattel Jurassic World toys were surprised of the sudden appearance of two previously unannounced toys on store shelves: the Dual Attack Nasutoceratops, and Dual Attack Allosaurus. Bot featuring brand new, never before seen designs, they immediately catch the eye – and this is especially important given the larger news buried within.

The packaging features a surprising callout: “As seen in ‘Battle at Big Rock'”

(Photo’s courtesy of Tyrant Tyrannus and Mr Classic Jurassic)

Thanks to Facebook user Tyrant Tyrannus we had our first look at the Mattel toys for the Nasutoceratops and Allosaurus, which are now appearing in stores (and now HD photos via Mr Classic Jurassic on Instagram). Considering these toys have been withheld from other promotional campaigns, and none of the other toys feature the ‘Battle of Big Rock’ callout, it’s clear these two dinosaurs are appearing in whatever Big Rock may be. Rumors have circulated about a potential Live Action short film releasing sometime this year, and our money is on those rumors being true.

This news is as exciting as it is mysterious! The prospect of knowing Jurassic World will be expanding into new territory outside of the core films is great, as the franchise has been historically slow to evolve and expand. Everyone has worked up quite a dinosaur sized appetite for new content, and it’s finally coming.

Other details of the short film are still unknown at this time. Whether it takes place after Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, is a prequel, or perhaps something that is not canon at all has yet to be determined. It’s also possible that this is actually an animated project, however we think ‘Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous’ is the franchises first real foray into feature animated content.

It’s worth noting at Amblin Entertainment took out a trademark for ‘Battle at Big Rock’ in November of 2018.

If Battle at Big Rock is canon, it would be the first of its kind for expanded universe content within the Jurassic Park universe. While certainly different than the approach properties like Star Wars and Marvel are taking, it could pave the way for more traditional spin-off content, such as films, television series, and more.

Should this be canon, and a sequel to Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’s ending there are a few options for the Allosaurs inclusion: at least one was purchased, and shipped away via cargo trucks at the end of the film. However, at least one other was still present in Lockwood’s estate when the dinosaurs were released and ran into the wild. It’s very possible that the film will follow the paths of one of those two animals, wherever they’re destined to appear. Perhaps its setting is this location in California?

As for the Nasutoceratops, this one is a mystery. It’s a newcomer to the Jurassic franchise, and perhaps could be the result of brand new parties cloning dinosaurs? It’s a brand new dinosaur, and whatever content it’s featured in will be a fascinating way to get a new dino design. The Allosaurus also appears to look quite different from it’s Fallen Kingdom toy and appearance, leading to speculation this may be an adult Allosaurus design. Further, if these are new designs, does that mean new film-quality assets from Industrial Light & Magic plus similar effects houses have been made? Whatever the answers may be, we’re sure excited to find out come this Summer – and we’re excited to get our hands on these great new toys!

What do you think of the title of “Battle at Big Rock” for the live action Jurassic World short film? Also, what would you like to see in the film, do you think it will be canon, or is this simply a high budget Mattel outting? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below and on our forums.

Chris Pratt wins Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Award for role of Owen Grady in Fallen Kingdom

Tonight in Los Angeles, the 2019 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards took place with Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom up for one award. Chris Pratt was up for the Favorite Butt-Kicker award for his portrayal of Owen Grady and took home the famous orange blimp.

Pratt squared off against Danai Gurira (Black Panther), Dwayne Johnson (Skyscraper), Emilia Clarke (Solo: A Star Wars Story), Michael B. Jordan (Creed II) and Zoe Saldana (Avengers: Infinity War) in the category.

In Fallen Kingdom, Owen has gone off the grid a bit, building a cabin while trying to forget the events that took place at Jurassic World and the current political debate over whether the dinosaurs should be saved from the impending volcanic eruptuon of Mt. Sibo. Convinced by Claire to return to Isla Nublar to save the dinosaurs, including Blue the Velociraptor, a conspiracy arises where the dinosaurs are actually being taken off the island to be sold at auction.

Chris Pratt Has Talked ‘Jurassic World 3’ with Laura Dern and Hints at Dr. Ellie Sattler’s Return!

‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’ roared into theaters less than a year ago, but fans are hungry for news pertaining to the future. Thankfully Chris Pratt, who plays the raptor wrangler Owen Grady, has us covered. Excitedly speaking to Josh Horowitz of MTV News about what’s next for the Jurassic Park franchise now that dinosaurs are off the islands, Horowitz pressed him about the potential of a Jurassic Park character reunion.

Check it out below (starting around 12:15):

They also talk about how Dr. Ian Malcolm will have a more interesting role, outside of a courtroom and perhaps interacting with dinosaurs once again. Chris Pratt doesn’t hold back, and while this remains unconfirmed officially, it seems all but certain the original Jurassic Park characters are coming back – especially Laura Dern as Ellie Sattler as Chris Pratt directly acknowledges talking Jurassic World 3 with her recently!

This all comes after Bryce Dallas Howard strongly hinted Dr. Sattler would make a return, essentially making this all appear to be a poorly kept secret everyone wants to spill the beans on. The original Jurassic Park love is very real! Chris Pratt also confirms he knows the entire Jurassic World 3 story – and while he was tight-lipped, he is incredibly excited and “blown away” by the finale soon to come as they “jump forward” after Fallen Kingdom.

The original Jurassic Park cast connections doesn’t stop there, this morning Sam Neill, Dr. Alan Grant himself, tweeted a “reunion” photo of himself with Laura Dern. The tweet has since been retweeted by the Offical Jurassic World Twitter account. Perhaps just some dot connecting on our part, but those ripple rings in the water seem to be getting much bigger!

How do you think the original Jurassic Park characters can come back, and what do you want to see in Jurassic World 3? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below and on our forums.

Huge thanks to Ana on Twitter for sharing this news!
