Universal Pictures Trademarks New Video Game ‘Jurassic World Aftermath’!

In 2016 Perfect World Entertainment were in development on a new video game titled Jurassic World Survivor, which was rumoured to take place immediately after the events in Jurassic World. The game was described as an open world third person survival game taking place on Isla Nublar. However, it wasn’t long before we learned that the game had ceased development.

Development footage of the cancelled game ‘Jurassic World Survivor’

This certainly is nothing new to Jurassic fans who are all too familiar with video game cancellations, but don’t get too sad just yet. Universal Pictures have now registered a new trademark – Jurassic World Aftermath, which is also for a video game. The application was filed on 14th April and appears to be strikingly similar to the trademark for Survivor.

The description provided to the USPTO for JURASSIC WORLD AFTERMATH is Recorded interactive multi-media software for playing games; downloadable interactive multi-media software for playing games; downloadable software in the nature of a mobile application for playing games and accessing entertainment content for use with computers, portable handheld digital electronic communication devices, mobile devices, wired and wireless communication devices, and video game consoles; recorded computer game software for wireless and electronic mobile devices, mobile phones, hand-held electronic devices, and video game consoles; downloadable computer game software for wireless and electronic mobile devices, mobile phones, hand-held electronic devices, and video game consoles; computer game discs; video game discs; wireless communication devices and wireless communication systems comprised of computer hardware and recorded software for the transmission of audio, voice, and images; recorded computer virtual reality game software; downloadable virtual reality game software.

We’re going to hazard a guess that Aftermath is what Survivor has become, and that the game will follow a similar story to what we came to learn about it’s predecessor. As the previous developer of ‘Survivor’ Cryptic Studios Seattle has closed, we’re unsure how much content from that game can be utilized, but logically speaking they may be picking up from where Cryptic left off. No word on a developer at this point, but word is some well known studios were exploring the Jurassic IP over the last year or so.

The domain name JurassicWorldAftermath.com was also registered on 14th April, the same day as the trademark, however the owner of this domain cannot be verified at this time.

We know very little about the game, but what we came to learn about Jurassic World Survivor was that it was an open world third person survival game that takes place on Isla Nublar, shortly after the events in Jurassic World. The game centered around player-created characters that have to survive the subsequent carnage that the Indominus Rex created on the island.

The story may have changed and this may be a completely different game, but the title alone leads us to believe this video game will indeed take place after the events seen in Jurassic World.

Stay tuned to Jurassic Outpost for more on this upcoming video game and be sure to sound off in the comments below (except for you Ben) on what you’d like to see in a Jurassic World video game!

Live-Action ‘Jurassic World’ Series in Development with Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank at Amblin TV!

Hold on to your butts, dinosaur fans! While ‘Jurassic World: Dominion’ has just begun filming, we’ve learned AMBLIN TELEVISION has begun developing a live-action Jurassic World series! Not much is known at this time, however the series has enlisted Jurassic alumni Colin Trevorrow and Steven Spielberg as producers, alongside newcomers Justin Falvey, and Darryl Frank! It currently lists Vancouver, Canada as its primary production location, which is a film and TV hotspot, and where Jurassic World 3 did some filming recently.

Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey are the co-president’s of Amblin Television, where they oversees all development, production and programming for the company. The two currently serve as executive producers on all Amblin Television productions. Both recently served as executive producers on the acclaimed series The Americans on FX, starring Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys as KGB spies living in the US, which has been honored with four Emmys, a Golden Globe, two Peabody Awards, Critics Choice Award and is a perennial recipient of the AFI Award for TV Program of the Year.

While the plot remains more mysterious than the fate of Isla Sorna, the series is said to be part of the same continuity as the films, and tie into the upcoming ‘Jurassic World: Dominion’. The current state of its development and release date also remain under tight wraps, however its tie into the upcoming Jurassic Park sequel lead us to believe it’s aiming for a late 2021 or 2022 release. The platform also is unknown, however if we had to hazard a guess our eyes are on Universal Pictures streaming service “Peacock”.

It’s worth noting that the times are still early, and the series is listed as in ‘development’ rather than ‘active development’, which means things are still very much in flux. As the series continues to push forward in development we expect more news to hit, so stay tuned. How do you feel about a possible Jurassic World series? Sound off in the comments!

Colin Trevorrow Shares Video of Baby Nasutoceratops Animatronic from Jurassic World 3!

The hype train has officially left the station! Colin Trevorrow has been quite active on Twitter recently, first fueling the fires about the title of Jurassic World 3 and now giving us another first look at an animatronic that is being prepared for use in JW3 production. Hold on to your butts everyone…we have a BABY NASUTOCERATOPS. Or maybe even a Triceratops! Confirmation on the exact animal species has not been given, but check out just how adorable the little juvenile is in Colin’s tweet below.

It clearly lacks a finishing paint job, but the range of motion on this small machine is incredible. Notice the lifelike way it closes its eyes as it shakes and rattles its head. This first look shows a great deal of promise in both the quality of the animatronics being produced and the story we will be delivered. Because, come on, who is going to say NO to seeing a baby dinosaur (and a practical one at that!)? Eagle-eyed viewers might also notice some sort of tail in the background. To our eyes, it looks a little too skinny to be a velociraptor, so your guess is as good as ours. Could this be the return of the fan favorite dilophosaur?

So far, we know the animatronics for JW3 are being made by John Nolan and his studio, the very same people who made the puppets for Netflix’s The Dark Crystal series. If you watched that show, you know the studio produces some high quality animatronics, and the streak appears to be continuing here.

What are your thoughts on the animatronic? What kind of color scheme do you expect it to have? Do you have any theories on the tail in the background? Let us know in the comments below!

Jurassic World Evolution ‘Raptor Squad’ DLC Coming Tomorrow!

If you’re dying for some new Jurassic World Evolution content prior to the December 10th ‘Return to Jurassic Park’ DLC, Frontier has you covered. Coming tomorrow, a new DLC pack will be available for purchase at $1.99 adding the Jurassic World ‘Raptor Squad’ – Blue, Charlie, Delta, and Echo!

Become the Alpha with the brand new Jurassic World Evolution: Raptor Squad Skin Collection, the complete skin set of the original Jurassic World Velociraptors! With this pack you’ll gain access to new, unlockable genes which will allow you to incubate Velociraptors with these fantastic new skins.

The Jurassic World Evolution: Raptor Squad Skin Collection is coming 26 November on Steam, Xbox One and Playstation for £1.49/€1.99/$1.99 (prices may vary depending on your region and platform).

The iconic pack of Velociraptors have been long requested since the launch of the game, with fans eager to add the squad to their park since before release. This perhaps is a point worth mentioning – this pack only adds new skins for existing dinosaurs, which felt missing from the core release, and probably should be free. With so much paid DLC already released for the game, and even more on its way, this feels like a bit of a grift instead of a gift. But I digress.

The skins themselves are fantastic, clearly built directly from ILM’s files, and offer the best look at these fan favorite dinosaurs since the 2015 film. As a huge fan of Delta myself, I cannot wait to see her up close, in all her glory.

Will you be purchasing the DLC pack, or would you rather wait to see if this release is ever given for free or bundled with larger DLC packs? Sound off in the comments below, and as always, stay tuned for the latest news!

Everything You Need to Know About Jurassic World Evolution’s ‘Return to Jurassic Park’ DLC!

Return to Jurassic Park - Jurassic Park Raptor Paddock Image

It is safe to say that for years, fans of the original Jurassic Park have yearned to dive back in and explore the original 1993 park which we saw on Isla Nublar. Last year’s entry into the long-running film series, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, provided a tantalising taste of the original park as we discovered a large-scale model in Benjamin Lockwood’s Manor. Now, however, Frontier Developments have gone one step further, providing fans with an opportunity to fully immerse themselves in the sights and scenes of a 1993 Jurassic Park in the form of their new DLC, Jurassic World Evolution: Return to Jurassic Park, which will release this December.

Return to Jurassic Park - Brachiosaurus and JP Jeep

This DLC is set to embrace the roots of the franchise itself – with new buildings and attractions which feel inspired by the classic source material, and other great entries into the franchise like Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis. The new DLC will add an assortment of fantastic new features – including new buildings like the classic Visitor Centre from the original film, alongside an Aviary which draws heavy inspiration from the design we see occupying Isla Sorna within the second and third Jurassic Park films. Both these buildings promise to breathe some heavy nostalgia into the parks which we will be able to create as part of this DLC – but they also tease something even better which is coming in this DLC.

Return to Jurassic Park - Interior of Aviary

Yes, that’s right – Pteranodons are finally joining the Jurassic World: Evolution line-up as the first aerial reptiles to become a part of our parks. Aerial animals are a feature which have been requested since the game’s debut, so it is incredibly exciting for fans to finally see them being introduced in the form of a Pteranodon. Whilst we are unsure as to how exactly these animals will function, it is safe to say that these creatures will be positioned inside the Aviary itself unlike other dinosaurs within the game – so it will be interesting to see if other Aerial Reptiles are added in the future!

Green Buck T-Rex Skin with New Model

Another exciting addition is the Compsognathus – a BRAND NEW dinosaur which will be one of the smallest animals to join the in-game roster. This game has been highly requested – especially after its return in Fallen Kingdom. Information suggests that this animal have free-roaming behaviours different to other dinosaurs, so it is exciting to see how this dinosaur will stand out from the crowd. The DLC will also introduce several other new elements – including a seven-mission story mode which will bring Dr Alan Grant, Dr Ellie Sattler and Dr Ian Malcolm back to both Isla Nublar and Isla Sorna after the events of the 1993 film. Yes, the Jurassic Park trio will be voiced by Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum respectively.

It has also been confirmed that a brand-new 1993 overlay will be introduced – adding new dinosaur models, textures for buildings and other details which will augment your JWE experience. This overlay will be available in all sandboxes, although it sounds as though Jurassic Park and Jurassic World objects and styles will not be able to be mixed together at this stage. That said, the DLC will still provide a brand-new avenue for play.

There is a lot to take in from the little information and pictures released. The iconic Ford Explorers appear in a picture, the Triceratops has a new skin and model that is JP accurate, the Stegosaurus has a brand new model and skin to match its Lost World appearance, and the Jurassic Park 3 Brachiosaurs also appear! With any luck, the DLC will also include the Velociraptor variants from both Lost World and Jurassic Park 3 – plus we’re crossing our fingers for Pternodons from Lost World and Jurassic World to flesh out the aviary!

This comes alongside a brand-new FREE update for JWE players, which will introduce a couple of fan-requested features alongside some bug fixes and other elements. These include the ability to place down toilets for your park visitors, and the ability for Ranger Team vehicles to be damaged by dinosaurs. Both new features, alongside others which we are no-doubt yet to uncover, promise to inject even more new energy and life into this game as it continues to grow and evolve.

Check out the full trailer for the upcoming DLC below.

There is also a new Species Profile now live for the DLC, which you can find here:

We’re very excited to get our hands on this new DLC! How do you feel about returning to Jurassic Park? Are you excited to revisit a 1993 Isla Nublar? Let us know if you’ll be playing Return to Jurassic Park on the 10th of December!
