Mondo to Release ‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’ on Vinyl!

No strangers to the Jurassic Franchise, Mondo have announced today the they will be offering Michael Giacchino’s ‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’ soundtrack as a 2 disc limited vinyl pressing. In record time too given the Official Release only dropped only days ago!

Mondo’s web exclusive version of this 2XLP comes pressed on either a stunning looking 180 Gram Indo-Raptor colored vinyl (Translucent Green with Orange Stripe and Yellow Splatter), or for the more reserved collector on traditional Black vinyl. Featuring original new artwork by JC Richard, this set will fit right in with Mondo’s previous Jurassic Park and World offerings.

Here’s what Mondo had to say about the score:

JURASSIC PARK: FALLEN KINGDOM is some of the most fun we’ve had in the theaters this year. And Giacchino’s score, which returns more to his penned JURASSIC WORLD score than the John Williams’ cues that bridged the gap in the last film, is evocative of classic Universal horror and haunted house movie scores, breaking from the pack of previous JURASSIC scores. Much like the film itself, Giacchino creates a fun, fresh take on the music of the “Man creates Dinosaurs… Dinosaurs eat Man” series.”

Hey Mondo? Can we get ‘The Lost World’ and ‘Jurassic Park III’ too please? The set goes up for sale this Wednesday at Noon (CST) over at MondoTees.com

Two New ‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’ Posters Debut Online!

Poster collectors are going to need a bigger wall.

Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom hits overseas theaters in a day, and to celebrate Universal Pictures have revealed two brand new posters! Both of the new posters are exclusive via ticket sale promotions and theater chains, Fandango and Dolby Cinemas respectively. Each poster has been seemingly designed with the fans in mind, and are fun new additions to Fallen Kingdom’s lineup.

The first poster is available now if you Pre-order your tickets through Fandango, and has been designed by fellow Jurassic superfan Nima Nakhshab. You may recognize Nima’s name as his fan posters in the past spread across social media like wildfire, and have been featured on our website numerous times. In an homage to his Star Wars style throwback poster, Nima has designed a dinosaur centric character collage with a vintage poster feel.

Check it out below, and visit Fandango to secure your free poster now!

The second poster revealed today is a more traditional and modern poster, and a huge step up from the other two theatrical posters (Stampede and Eruption) revealed months back. While it’s perhaps a bit cluttered, it feels more in tone with the films, and features Owen and Claire facing the Indoraptor and Baryonyx respectively, and of course has Blue front and center ready to attack. The composition and colors on this poster make it one of my favorites featured in cinemas, second only to the recently revealed IMAX poster.

Check it out below!

What’s your favorite Fallen Kingdom poster, and will you purchase tickets through Fandango to secure your copy designed by Nima? Sound off in the comments below, and hold on to your butts – life finds a way this week.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Spending $185 Million On Global Promo Campaign

Universal is sparing no expense when it comes to promoting Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, as it is spending roughly $185 million on global promotion according to a report from Deadline.

Spanning items from Jeep Wranglers to bandages, Fallen Kingdom continues the brand’s tradition with a $185M global promo campaign in media value. That’s double the size of the previous partner program for the release of Jurassic World three years ago, and it outstrips recent summer promo campaigns like Disney’s Avengers: Infinity War ($150M+) and last year’s Spider-Man: Homecoming ($140M) and Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2 ($80M). Overall, nine different partners will be running TV spots, which will remain in play well past Fallen Kingdom‘s opening day. In total, consumers around the globe will be exposed to 1.3 billion Fallen Kingdom packages in the marketplace, and 1.5M displays.

Everywhere you turn you can see Jurassic World being packaged and slapped on lunch boxes and now Universal is selling it. The tie-ins and promotion really got going on Super Bowl Sunday. The Colin Trevorrow directed Jeff Goldblum/Jeep commercial where he is being chased by a T-Rex that aired during the game had 39.7 million views in its first 24 hours online. You can watch the Jeep Wrangler commercial below:

Among the other sponsors Universal is working with and creating merchandise for includes Dr. Pepper (with four collectible cans), Doritos, Skittles, Juicy Fruit, Ferrero, Kellogg’s and Dairy Queen among others. Internationally you can expect to see Fallen Kingdom on products from CPW, Hershey, BP and at McDonalds in Latin America.

Even when it comes to promoting the film in markets with the stars of the film there is no holding back. On Wednesday, a life sized T-Rex was spotted being transported down the Thames River in London before being set up for photos and interviews with Colin Trevorrow, J.A. Bayona, Bryce Dallas Howard, Jeff Goldblum and Chris Pratt. Take a look at the video below:

It should come as no surprise that Universal is all in with the Jurassic franchise, because in terms of average worldwide gross per film, it is their biggest franchise by far. Having already grossed north of $3.6 billion worldwide through four films, the fifth film is expected to take another massive bite out of the box office. While no one expects Fallen Kingdom to match the huge domestic opening weekend of Jurassic World in 2015 at $208.8 million, it is expected to have a very big opening and one of the biggest of 2018. Official tracking numbers have not been released yet, but early projections from Box Office Pro expect an opening weekend of around $130-150 million. We will get a better idea of it’s domestic opening weekend possibilities in the coming weeks, so stay tuned for updates.

What are your thoughts on Universal spending roughly $185 million on global promotion for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom? Do you think it will pay off in the end for the film and studio? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below and on our forums.

Can You Survive Isla Nublar? ‘Jurassic Park: Danger’ Board Game is Out Now!

The T. rex, the Dilophosaurus and the Velociraptor are back! You can now play through your own adventure on Isla Nublar thanks to the new board game Jurassic Park: Danger!

With thanks to the wonderful people at Ravensburger we got the chance to play the upcoming board game and experience the fun adventures that Isla Nublar has to offer.

This is a 2-5 player game – one player will control the dinosaurs, the other player(s) controlling the humans from paleontologist Dr. Alan Grant to computer programmer Dennis Nedry. The synopsis for the game is as follows:

The first visitors have arrived at Jurassic Park to see its miraculous dinosaurs firsthand. But chaos has hit Isla Nublar – the power is out, and the prehistoric creatures are on the hunt! One player controls the T. Rex, Dilophosaurus, and Velociraptor, prowling through the jungle to attack the humans. The other players team up as characters from the classic movie, struggling to get Jurassic Park back online and escape the island before they become pray!

The board game itself forms Isla Nublar when pieced together, with surrounding borders, perimeter pieces and the central ‘Start’ piece. It includes a number of iconic locations on the island including the maintenance shed, control center and visitors center.

The goals for the dinosaurs and humans are different – if you’re playing as the dinosaurs then your aim is to eliminate 3 human characters to win. If you’re playing as the humans, you must work together to Activate the locations (the maintenance shed etc), achieve your character’s person goal to collect the goal token, and then make it to the helicopter!

There are 10 character’s from the original movie to play as and while many would choose the heroes of Jurassic Park, the villain or even the lawyer may be a wiser choice in certain situations. Each character can use their unique ‘free action’ that helps the team reach their objective, even Dennis Nedry! Ellie Sattler’s free action is called ‘Dino Droppings’ and when played, a character in the same place on the board can return TWO of their used cards back into their pile.

The dinosaurs themselves are (as expected) incredibly powerful and will do whatever they can to stop the human characters leaving the island. The dinosaurs intention is to stay ahead of the humans and block them from progression at any point they can, and with the additional ‘Free Actions’ they can play, there’s a strong chance the dinosaurs with come out on top!

The number of characters, cards and gameplay options mens the board game itself has a big replay value with variable strategies to win!

The design and artwork designed for this game show that the designers at Ravensburger are fans of the franchise and if you’re looking for a couple of hours of fun then this is worth picking up! Jurassic Park: Danger brings back all the nostalgia from the original film and provides a fun adventure for families and friends.

Jurassic Park: Danger is a game for ages 10 and up, can be played by 2-5 players and the designers give an estimated game time of 50 minutes. The game is retailing for $24.99 and is available exclusively at Target. Will you be playing the game? Let us know in the comments section below!
