Welcome to SDCC 2025! San Diego Comic-Con will commence at the San Diego Convention Center July 24 – 27, 2025. There will be tons of Jurassic at the con with Jurassic World Rebirth, Mattel, and Jurassic World: Chaos Theory at the forefront of the franchise at the moment. Plenty of Jurassic creators and merchandise will be present as well, not to mention the numerous Jurassic-adjacent dinosaur, paleontology, and film-related opportunities. Jurassic Outpost will be on-site and have you covered on all things Jurassic and dinosaur!

The Her Universe Fashion Show 2025

Hosted by founder Ashley Eckstein, The Her Universe Fashion Show 2025 Presented by Universal will showcase emerging designers from across the country dazzling San Diego Comic-Con from a new location within the Manchester Grand Hyatt. In celebration of this year’s theme: “Defying Fashion: Fashion That Defies Expectations,” the selected finalists will debut their designs inspired across Universal Pictures franchises including Wicked, Jurassic World and Universal Monsters as well as DreamWorks Animation franchises such as How To Train Your Dragon and Trolls. Each designer has been carefully selected for their talent to blend fandom with fashion. They will unveil their one-of-a-kind creations to the show’s largest audience to date from the Seaport Ballroom at the Manchester Grand Hyatt.

Spotlight on William Stout

William Stout has had the amazing good fortune to work with Kurtzman, Elder, Eisner, Kirby, Moebius, Harlan Ellison, and Russ Manning. He co-founded the Comic Art Professional Society (and was its 10th resident), shared a studio with Dave Stevens and Paul Chadwick, and has attended every single San Diego Comic-Con. Bill has 14 murals at the San Diego Natural History Museum and the San Diego Zoo. His newest publication will be a three-volume Flesk Publications box set of all his comics-related work, due this October. Come see a preview of this momentous work!

William Stout worked on the canceled Escape From Jurassic Park animated series, and will also be in Artist Alley for merchandise sales and signings.

PRIMITIVE WAR

Film adaptation writer/director Luke Sparke (Occupation Rainfall) will be joined by cast members Ryan Kwanten (True Blood), Tricia Helfer (Battlestar Galactica), Nick Wechsler (The Boys), and Jeremy Piven (Entourage) to premiere exclusive footage from Primitive War, a Vietnam War thriller where the Vulture Squad realizes they are fighting both men and dinosaurs.

Saturday, July 26th

Genius In The House / STEAM Fair

Cosplay for Science will have a pop-up museum focusing on the science of Jurassic Park franchise with emphasis on the most recent Jurassic World Rebirth and real-world connections to the recent “de-extinction” announcement from Colossal. Fossil casts from the Alf Museum will also be on-hand as part of the pop-up museum.

Mixer for Science-Minded Geeks

A special panel mixer where guests can engage with scientists who are attending Comic-Con, complete with themed tables to begin casual conversations.

From traveling museum exhibitions, to multiple educational books written by some of world’s leading scientists, and even donating nearly a million dollars of paleontological research through The Jurassic Foundation, Universal Pictures and Amblin have found many unique and inventive ways to utilize the Jurassic franchise to promote education through STEAM (an acronym for science, technology, engineering, art, and math.) Universal Destinations and Experiences now continues this trend with their latest student programing at Universal Orlando!

Jurassic World VelociCoaster: Breaking Down the DNA is an all new educational youth program that allows student attendees to discover the the collaborative and innovative world of ride design! Developed in partnership with Universal Pictures, students will explore how a diverse Universal team with varied backgrounds and skills aligned to collectively transform an idea into a multi-award winning ride. They’ll discover how ride design is a complex collaborative process the combines creativity and problem-solving to create an innovative, story-driven attraction.

Program Objectives include:

Exploring academic and professional interests connected to themed entertainment.
Examining how diverse perspectives drive innovative thinking.
Identifying how teamwork is fundamental in achieving a common goal.
How to describe storytelling elements and how they drive immersive experiences.
Explaining the importance of how research influences decision making.

The program is the latest in a series of STEAM centered events hosted at the parks that seek to engage students into exploring engineering, creativity, science, and teamwork. It’s also the latest way Universal has used the Jurassic franchise to promote education. Previously, in 2023, Universal Orlando hosted a STEAM Symposium themed around Jurassic Park’s 30th Anniversary, and Universal Orlando also offers a “Jurassic Paleobotany” program associated with their STEAM App Series, where students work together to describe the importance of understanding plants and environments of the past and present to create authentic, immersive, and themed environments.

Programs at Universal are intended for groups of twenty or more students, and reservations must be made ahead of time. Tours will be scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis. Programs are subject to availability. More details and resources for educators interested can be found on Universal Orlando’s Youth Programing website.
