John Hammond Still Looms Over Jurassic World in New ‘Fallen Kingdom’ Featurette!

According to the online viral campaign for Masrani Global that accompanied Jurassic World’s release in 2015, John Parker Hammond passed away shortly after the events seen in The Lost World: Jurassic Park in 1997.

Despite that, the legend of the entrepreneur is still alive and well more than twenty years later. In a new featurette for next month’s ‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’, we see Claire Dearing in Benjamin Lockwood’s manor standing in front of a large portrait of none other than John Parker Hammond, who’s bears a striking resemblance to when we last saw him in The Lost World – though perhaps a little healthier.

While little else can be gleaned from this appearance, it’s clear that Lockwood’s relationship with Hammond, and it’s deterioration before the events of Jurassic Park, will be an interesting look back into the mythos of the franchise.

Check out the featurette below:

Accompanying this featurette comes the Production Information for the movie which is now available to view online and you can find embedded below!

While this may not offer any groundbreaking spoilers from the plot of the movie, it does give us a chance to get to know the characters before their debut as well as setting the stage for what we will see next month. Take a look below!

RUMOUR: Orlando to Break Ground on New Jurassic Park Ride?

You might be forgiven if you forgot that Universal has a theme park in Orlando, especially with the announcement of a re-theme in their Hollywood Park, a parade debut in Japan and rumours of a Jurassic World section in Beijing. But the largest and most complete Jurassic Park ride has resided at Universal’s Islands of Adventure since 1999 and if rumours are to be believed, it’s finally getting a much needed upgrade!

With the spotlight elsewhere, Universal discretely filed a demolition permit for a 9,100 Square Foot area in the park earlier this month. This could easily be mistaken for the new ‘Harry Potter’ ride, but demolition and construction are already well underway at the site of the former ‘Dragon Challenge’ attraction, which was listed as Project 942. The new permit is listed as Project 741, a distinctly older number. Sources inside the park have hinted that area to be cleared is the former Triceratops Encounter/Discovery Trail, which closed in 2005, but was temporarily reopened in 2011 and 12 as an overflow attraction during the debut of ‘The Wizarding World of Harry Potter’. The size of the area certainly matches to that reported in the permit.

This is not the first time that Universal has filed for permits to modify the Jurassic Park area, though disappointingly those turned out to only be small changes; Carnival style booths in part of the River Adventure’s extended queue, and the Raptor Encounter in the exit to the Triceratops Encounter. Given the scale of the area, is certainly looks as though Universal is finally pushing forward with a new attraction, especially given that the former attraction has previously sat dormant for over 15 years.

At this time we can only speculate what the new attraction will be. Whispers from insiders are hinting at a coaster, perhaps in the style of Japan’s ‘Flying Dinosaur’ though at this early stage all bets are off. Prior to the park’s opening, attractions known as ‘Jeep safari’ and ‘Helicoptours’ were planned for the Jurassic Park area though were eventually written off due to budget constraints. The patches of land reserved for these attractions have since been filled by other IPs but perhaps one of them could have a resurgence on this new plot.

Demolition is set to begin on June 1st with a reported cost of $300,000. Keep your eyes peeled for more info then!

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Premieres in Madrid, Spain and The First Reactions Are In!

The World Premiere for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom took place today in Madrid, Spain. While celebrities and guests had to dodge rain and even hail during the red carpet, the day capped with the first official showing of the 5th installement of the Jurassic Park film franchise and it recieved a 10 minute standing ovation.

Early buzz and reactions from people who attended the premiere appear to be mostly positive. A lot of the praise seems to be in regard to the job director J.A. Bayona did on the film.

Check out some of the initial reactions on Twitter from the Spanish auidence. Rough translations of the tweets into English are below.

English translation: # JurassicWorld2 is the continuation that the saga deserves. It is not only interesting as it arises, but what is to come is going to be BRUTAL. @FilmBayona, you don’t disappoint.

English translation: 10 Minutes applauding … #JurassicWorldElReinoCaido is awesome … and the impeccable seal @FilmBayona as always! I will not say more … well yes. Mandatory visit to the cinema next June 7 #JurassicworldPremiere

English translation: I’m hallucinating. #JurassicWorld # ElReinoCaido is a host of emotions and the beginning of a new era at the hands of @FilmBayona. #PremiereJW

English translation: OK, saw Jurassic World: Fallen kingdom.
AWESOME. Very different from the first, an incredible film, the music has left me blown away. Very, very, but that very recommended. I watched the whole movie with my eyes wide open. Go see it for real.

English translation: @ FilmBayona had it difficult but has managed to exceed my expectations with a huge movie. Also this # jurassicworld has for me the best start sequence of the saga. All the applause has been few

English translation: The #FallenKingdom is the movie of 2018. You will flip and you will load! Congratulations @FilmBayona!

While the far majority of the initial reactions were positive, not everyone was in love with the latest installment.

English translation: #JurassicWorld2 It’s a blockbuster but disappoints me as a Bayona film. It is a very well-solved commission, but it offers few surprises. It’s his first movie that does not excite me. It raises several very interesting moral / social debates

English translation: Saw # JurassicWorld2 I have to say that some scenes have surprised me and turned out great, but some script decisions as a certain moment related to the little one … have seemed pretty sloppy.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom opens on June 6th in the UK and June 22nd domestically. Over the next couple of weeks we will start to see reviews from film critics pour in, so stay tuned for our coverage on that!

Report: Cinematographer John Schwartzman returning for Jurassic World 3

The website Omega Underground is reporting that Jurassic World Cinematographer John Schwartzman is returning in the same role for Jurassic World 3.

With J.A. Bayona directing the second film in the new trilogy, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, he brought along Oscar Faura to be his cinematographer. But for the final film in the new trilogy, Colin Trevorrow is returning to the director’s chair and it makes sense he would turn back to someone he has prior experience with.

In addition to Jurassic World, Schwartzman has worked on numerous other films including Saving Mr. Banks, Armageddon, The Book of Henry and Seabiscuit, which he was nominated for an Academy Award.

Jurassic World 3 is slated to hit theaters on June 11, 2021.

Thank you to Matt for the heads up on this report.

Claire Dearing Invites You To Adopt-A-Dino Through the DPG

Happy National Dinosaur day!! On this day it’s only appropriate that another video installment from the DPG is released. For those of you who don’t know (anyone?), the DPG is short for the “Dinosaur Protection Group.” This is an in-universe organization lead by Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard) who is on a mission to save the dinosaurs from an exploding volcano looming over our beloved Isla Nublar (got that?).

In this newest video Claire invites you all to Adopt-A-Dino to show your support of your favorite dinosaur! Once you click “begin” it allows you to choose a dinosaur, but it just doesn’t list some names, it also lists some information and an age which is an interesting detail!

Once you choose your dinosaur, you will receive a “Certificate of Adoption.” This is really a fun way to involve young kids (and those young at heart) to be interactive with the and feel apart of the movie universe. It’s just brings us all once step further into the film and I love that Universal is doing this. It may be something simple, but an excellent touch for marketing and treat for the fans.

Visit AdoptADino.com now to get started!

If you haven’t already, do check out the DPG website for some fun articles written by members Zia Rodriguez (Daniella Pineda) and Franklin Webb (Justice Smith) as well as live updates of volcanic activity.

There is also a new mini featurette released with this DPG video. Most of the clippings in that video can be found in the On Set Snapchat video from earlier this year. However, Bryce Dallas Howard brings up a new dinosaur, the sinoceratops, and we get our first good look at that dinosaur along with the Stygimoloch.

Check that video out below!

What do you think of the new interactive feature? Let us know what dinosaur you are most excited to adopt!

Jurassic World Parades Through Universal Studios Japan

Dinosaurs and gyrospheres roam the streets of Universal Studios Japan as part of the park’s Spectacle Night Parade! The Jurassic World section of the parade showcases some fan favorite dinosaurs, starting off with a Stegosaurus in a flashing red enclosure and ending with a roaring animatronic Tyrannosaurus Rex. The procession features a Parasaurolophus, as well as an infant Brachiosaurus and Triceratops being handled by Jurassic World employees.

In one exciting moment, three Velociraptors escape from their enclosure and run along the street, before being corralled by one man dressed as Owen and others dressed in Asset Containment Unit uniforms. Samples of Michael Giacchino’s music from the Jurassic World Soundtrack can be heard as the floats and Jurassic employees march down the parade path.

The dinosaurs used in this event seem extremely well constructed. The T-Rex alone has nearly full motion in its head, torso, and tail. Its extremely tall body towers over the gathered spectators and lets out some classic Jurassic roars as its glowing red eyes scan the area around it. The Velociraptors and Parasaurolophus are costumed employees, but still look pretty natural amidst the chaos unfolding around them. The parade also employs the use of “Parade x Projection Mapping” which utilizes state-of-the-art technology to project scenery onto buildings and transform the park as the event moves through it.

This new event at Universal Studios Japan was announced last October and debuted this month. Watch footage from the parade below.

What do you think of the new parade? Would you like to see it stampede into the streets of Universal Orlando or Hollywood as well? We want your opinions in the comment section below!

IGN has first look at Isla Pena, the most dangerous island yet in Jurassic World: Evolution

IGN has another exclusive first look for the upcoming Jurassic World: Evolution game, this time of Isla Pena, which they deem as the most dangerous island yet.

Isla Pena is the smallest of the five islands that make up the Muertes archipelago, alongside Isla Matanceros, Muerta, Tacano and Sorna. Accordining to IGN, Pena is one of the most dangerous and challenging islands in the Jurassic World: Evolution game.

It’s one of the most challenging islands for two reasons: first, only a small area of land is suitable for development, so you really have to make every square foot count. Second, everything on Isla Pena takes place at night. Who knows why the Hammond foundation picked it as a great spot for a park full of tourists but there we are.

Some of our team members went hands on with Jurassic World: Evolution at the Jurassic Park 25th Anniversary Celebration in Hollywood, and they cannot get over the game. Check out the video for Isla Pena below!

What are your thoughts about Isla Pena being in Jurassic World: Evolution and the challenges this island present? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below and on our forums.
