New Global Filming Locations and Dates for Jurassic World 4 Revealed

According to a new listing from an industry source, Jurassic World 4 is getting set to film in the UK (as previously reported) and also Thailand and Malta! The production is said to begin June 17th of this year and continue through October 18th.

It seems Gareth Edwardsā€™ Jurassic movie will return to locations familiar to him, with his last feature The Creator being filmed partially in Thailand, and familiar to the Jurassic franchise, with Malta being the site of a major set piece in Jurassic World: Dominion.

Watch our full breakdown of the new production news and read more below!

Thanks to Reel News Hawaii we received a production listing that reveals some exciting new information about the next Jurassic movie! The source is considered legitimate but unfortunately based on their own terms we cannot show the image of the listing (although it wouldnā€™t be too hard to find yourself) ā€“ but we can examine the details.

The details relating to the production companies involved all align and for obvious reasons we donā€™t need to dive into those specifics.

The previously rumored Hawaii and Los Angeles locations are not in this listing, but Thailand and Malta are! Thailand is certainly a new location for the franchise ā€“ the islands of Isla Nublar and Isla Sorna have always been represented by the islands of Hawaii. Jurassic Park 3 briefly considered New Zealand for filming, but as we know the movie ultimately did film on the islands of Oahu and Kauai, as well as extensive indoor studio work.

Thailand is an absolutely beautiful country ā€“ and a place director Gareth Edwards is familiar with. His latest feature The Creator filmed on location in Bangkok and other locations in Thailand, and Gareth seems to love a bit of globe-trotting ā€“ all of his movies have filmed in diverse and wonderful locations around the world. Plus, the coastlines of Thailand alone give off major Jurassic Park island vibes.

We donā€™t know what the story is and we donā€™t know when this movie will be set, so at this point we canā€™t say how they will be utilizing Thailand as a location. But what do you think? Do you believe Thailand will be standing in as the infamous islandsā€™ coastlines?

Letā€™s talk about the other location ā€“ Malta. Fans of the franchise will recognize this location as the black market in Jurassic World: Dominion. A fairly large chunk of that movie filmed on location in Malta, the dinosaur black market was a major plot point in the movie, and itā€™s where we finally meet Barry again after he went missing for an entire movie.

The return of Malta could very much indicate that we will be seeing Dominion locations again, which might be telling us that this movie is indeed going to be a sequel, set in a world after Jurassic World: Dominion. However, it could be unrelated entirely. Malta is a diverse and beautiful location, one Gareth and his cinematographer surely have many plans for.

The last location on the listing is London, UK, which as previously reported likely indicates sounds stage and studio filming, but could mean more diverse locations for the film.

The final piece of news to discuss from this listing is the filming dates themselves. We have all been hearing JUNE as a ā€œcameras start rolling dateā€ but this production listing seems to have confirmed as such:

Jurassic World 4 will be filming from June 17th to October 18th, 2024.

Also, the title and information on the listing is worth discussing. The title is ā€œJURASSIC WORLD 4ā€ but it then goes on to say ā€œaka JURASSIC CITY / JURASSIC PARK REBOOT.ā€

The ā€œJURASSIC PARK REBOOTā€ is making us wonder what the movie might be. Itā€™s not a remake, but the term brings to mind that maybe it wonā€™t be tying itself to the previous movies as much as we thought, or perhaps maybe itā€™s not a direct sequel to what has come beforeā€¦

Or maybe, that information on this listing doesnā€™t mean too much. We will have to see how it all plays out.

Thank you again to our friends at Reel News for sharing this with us! While we cannot 100% confirm this information, it is from a very legitimate source and the details appear to line up, including the numbers and emails connected to it. If you do find it, no, please do not go emailing and phoning those numbers!

And remember, things like film productions are always subject to change.

What do you think of these new filming locations and dates and how do you think they will be utilized? Will we see a return of the dinosaur black market, of the Jurassic Park islands, or are we about to get something entirely new?

Let us know your thoughts down below, and stay tuned to Jurassic Outpost for the latest.

New ‘Jurassic World: Chaos Theory’ Teaser Trailer Roars Online; Show Premieres May 24th!

Welcome back to Jurassic World, camp fam! A new teaser trailer for the upcoming DreamWorks series ‘Jurassic World: Chaos Theory‘ has roared online and revealed the series will premiere on Netflix May 24th, 2024. Check out the trailer below, and then read on for even more details about the ‘Camp Cretaceous’ sequel!

Set six years after the events at Camp Cretaceous, members of ā€œThe Nublar Sixā€ are struggling to find their footing off the islands, navigating a world now filled with dinosaurs and people who want to hurt them. Reunited in the wake of a tragedy, the group comes together only to find themselves on the run and catapulted into a global adventure to unravel a conspiracy that threatens dinosaur and humankind alike and finally learn the truth about what happened to one of their own.

The animated series, set to debut on May 24, 2024, consists of 10 episodes, each running for 22 minutes. The voice cast features the return of Paul-Mikel Williams as “Darius” and Sean Giambrone as “Ben.” Steven Spielberg, Colin Trevorrow, and Frank Marshall reprise their role as executive producers, with Scott Kreamer and Aaron Hammersley serving as both executive producers and showrunners. Additionally, Zesung Kang acts as the supervising producer.

While the new trailer and synopsis are light on details, they still give us a lot to chomp down on. Set six years after their escape from Isla Nublar and Mantah Corp Island (which by our estimates means the show takes place a few months before the events of Jurassic World Dominion), the campers are now young adults living their own lives trying to make the best of a world where dinosaurs roam free. Ben reveals they’re being hunted by nefarious individuals with unknown motives, and soon after Ben and Darius are attacked by Atrociraptors (and these aren’t just any Atrociraptors: in the trailer we see Tiger, Ghost, and Panthera from Jurassic World Dominion). Given what we know from Dominon we can’t help but wonder if Atrociraptor handler and black market smuggler Soyona Santos is the one hunting them – but for what reason remains a mystery.

As for the other characters played by Jenna Ortega (Brooklynn), Ryan Potter (Kenji), Kausar Mohammed (Yasmina), and Raini Rodriguez (Sammy) there’s no word if or how they will return – but the trailer makes it clear Darius and Ben set out on an adventure to find them, so we wager they will be back. Of course, the synopsis hints at a grim fate for one of them, and we wager Brooklyn – who was investigating the Lockwood Manor incident during the Camp Cretaceous epilogue – stirred the proverbial Atrociraptor nest and has gone missing, kickstarting the conspiracy that is unfolding.

The trailer doesn’t give much more away, but we do see a website titled ‘Dark Jurassic’ which visually seems similar to Dinotracker suggesting an underground movement to understand what is happening with the dinosaurs in the world. Likewise, there is a lot of vehicle action – could this show have a road trip theme as our heroes search for their friends and avoid being eaten by hungry dinosaurs? Finally, speaking of dinos: the trailer also showcases a glimpse of the Allosaurus and what appears to be the rumored Becklespinax.

You can learn more about this trailer and watch our detailed breakdown below:

This leaves us with a lot to digest, and we cannot wait to see the show unfold May 24th. Until then, stay tuned to Jurassic Outpost for all the latest news!

Scarlett Johansson OFFICIALLY Offered Lead Role in New Jurassic World Movie

A couple of weeks back we reported that Scarlett Johansson had been offered the lead role in the upcoming movie. The rumor came from notable insider Jeff Snieder, and today his exclusive was confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter.

Scarlett Johansson is taking a bite out of a new blockbuster. The actor is in talks to join Universalā€™s new Jurassic World movie, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

Universal is moving quickly on the film, which has a July 2, 2025, release date. Gareth Edwards is directing the new Jurassic World, which has a script from Jurassic Park scribe David Koepp. Edwards stepped into the role after David Leitch exited following a short attachment to the project.

The film returns Johansson to the world of franchises. She starred as Black Widow in a number of Marvel Studios movies, including the Avengers features, but unlike some co-stars in the superhero world, has had no trouble breaking out in other projects. She has earned two Oscar nominations, for Marriage Story and Jojo Rabbit. She has a voice role in the upcoming animated feature Transformers One, and has a big-budget Apple feature co-starring Channing Tatum also due out this year.

The actress is more recently known for her role as Marvel’s Black Widow and Midge Campbell in Wes Anderson’s Asteroid City. She has starred in a fantastic array of movies – Under the Skin, Chef, The Prestige, The Island… the list goes on.

You can read the report from THR here, and we summarize all we know about this casting in the video below, including the fact that Jennifer Lawrence turned down this role before talks began with Scarlett. We also show John Campea’s reaction to the news in which he speculates that this is likely a done deal.

What do YOU think of this potential casting – would you like to see Scarlett Johansson lead the next adventure? And where would you like that adventure to take place?

Scarlett Johansson Offered Lead Role in Next Jurassic World Film

The Black Widow could be making her way into the ranks of Jurassic leading ladies! According to Hollywood insider Jeff Sneider, Scarlett Johansson has been offered the lead role in the next Jurassic World movie.

Johansson is known for many films, such as Lost in Translation, Lucy, The Prestige, Isle of Dogs, and The Island, more recently her work with Wes Anderson in Asteroid City, and of course her starring role as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow ā€“ spy, assassin, and hero in multiple installments of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Needless to say, she has more than the chops for such a role as Jurassic, and this could be a great choice for a David Koepp character.

Jeff Sneider shared in his TheInSneider newsletter on March 13th:

Tonight, one of my best sources has told me that Scarlett Johansson has been offered the lead role in the new Jurassic World movie that Gareth Edwards is directing for Universal.

Thereā€™s no word on whether she has accepted yet, but her hiring would make a ton of sense, as sheā€™s a proven movie star whom the studio has been high on ever since she powered 2014ā€™s Lucy to a global haul of $469 million.

Iā€™m told that Johansson met with Edwards and producer Frank Marshall at least once. A representative for the actress did not immediately respond to a request for comment, nor did Universal.

Production is slated to start this summer, and Johansson will have wrapped her feature directorial debut Eleanor the Invisible by then, so she should be available for the high-intensity shoot.

Sneider goes into more detail and discussion in his full newsletter and The Hot Mic podcast, so please be sure to check both of those out!

Next Jurassic World Movie Confirmed to Film in UK at Sky Studios Elstree This Year

Filming and location rumors have been rumbling since the announcement that a new Jurassic World film is in development, and confirmation of certain details has come via Universal Pictures and Deadline:

NBCUniversal has confirmed that its new Jurassic World movie will film this year at its own Sky Studios Elstree in the UK.

With a release date already set for July 2025, the expectation from our sources is that the blockbuster will begin filming this summer, though that hasnā€™t been confirmed by the studio.

The confirmation of the movie filming at Sky Studios came from Universalā€™s sister company Sky, which today heralded UK government updates to the local tax credit and business rates.

The new Jurassic World movie will become the third major film to shoot at Universalā€™s Sky Studios venue ā€” after Wicked and Paddington 3 ā€” which opened last year. The film is also expected to shoot in other global destinations ā€” most movies in the franchise have filmed in Hawaii, though that hasnā€™t been confirmed as a destination. Previous Jurassic World movies had shot at Pinewood in the UK but this one will not be filming there.

Further details and comments from director Gareth Edwards were also shared via Variety:

U.K. Government Unveils Tax Relief for Studios and Indie Film Credit as ā€˜Jurassic World 4ā€™ Sets Shoot in Country

During the reading of the U.K. governmentā€™s spring budget on Wednesday, Chancellor of the Exchequer Jeremy Hunt revealed a 40% corporate tax relief for film and TV studios through 2034.

ā€œWeā€™re delighted that the Chancellor called ā€˜Cutā€™ today on TV and Film studio business rates, providing vital tax relief to enable the UKā€™s world-class film and TV production sector to continue to thrive,ā€ Strong said. ā€œTodayā€™s announcement brings confidence to the sector, unlocking job opportunities whilst providing a stable foundation for the investments of tomorrow in the U.K., such as our proposal for Sky Studios Elstree North and the filming of NBCUniversalā€™s ā€˜Jurassic 4.ā€™ā€

ā€œJurassic World 4ā€ director Gareth Edwards also expressed his delight at the news:

ā€œWatching ā€˜Star Warsā€™ as a child, I always assumed blockbuster filmmaking was just a distant dream for someone growing up in the U.K. But then, as I watched the behind the scenes, I suddenly realized it was all filmed in a studio just outside of London. And that making ambitious commercial films is totally within the reach of British filmmakers,ā€ he said. ā€œWhen I finally got to make my first film ā€˜Monsters,ā€™ it was made in the true independent style ā€” with a small cast and crew, a tiny budget and shot in just a few weeks. I learnt so much, so fast, and would definitely describe it was one of the most creative experiences Iā€™ve ever had. Without that opportunity I would never have been given ā€˜Godzilla,ā€™ ā€˜Star Warsā€™ and ā€˜The Creatorā€™ā€¦ And now as we organize shooting the new ā€˜Jurassic Parkā€™ film in ā€˜a studio just outside London,ā€™ I hope we inspire other new filmmakers to shoot small, but always dream big.ā€

Obviously of interest is the fact that Edwards refers to the film as ā€œthe new ā€˜Jurassic Parkā€™ā€ (we do know heā€™s a massive fan) as well as the news from Deadline that ā€œthe film is also expected to shoot in other global destinations.ā€ It sounds as if studio filming in the UK may not be the only important production location for the next Jurassic film.

Are you excited for the next Jurassic World film and its prospective filming locations? What do you hope it will be? Let us know in the comments, and stay tuned to Jurassic Outpost for the latest news.

To the tune of the Jurassic Park theme by John Williams:

Itā€™s Jurassic Park

Itā€™s a UK Park

Will it film in Hawaii?

Nick Robinsion, ā€œZachā€ From ā€˜Jurassic World,ā€™ Wishes To Return To The Franchise

Itā€™s been nearly a decade since the events of 2015ā€™s ā€˜Jurassic World;ā€™ after the Indominus Rex escaped its pen, causing a chain reaction of carnage on Isla Nublar. Zach Mitchell, played by Nick Robinson, survived the massacre. But where has he been since the dinosaurs reclaimed their ā€œdominion?ā€

Well, Nick is entertaining this idea!

CoveredGeekly had an exclusive conversation with Nick, asking if he would come back to the franchise in the upcoming film. Nick says:

ā€œIā€™d love to [return], but I donā€™t know. ā€˜Zachā€™ I think is probably still in therapy from the trauma of the first movie. But [ā€¦] Iā€™d love for that character to come back. Itā€™d be really fun.ā€

While it is nice to know he is willing to return, it is all up to the script and the filmmakers if he really will. This is not a confirmation by any means. Still, it is nice to entertain what happened to Zach after the first ā€˜Jurassic Worldā€™ film. Was he forever traumatized by the event? Did he stop giving his brother a hard time? Did his parents divorce, or did they stay together [for SOME reason]? Has he stopped staring at girls, thinking something will actually happen? Did he finally respect his girlfriend? Maybe his experience at Nublar inspired him to hunt dinosaurs out of revenge for what happened to him and Gray?

Nick Robinson has been busy since ā€˜Jurassic World,ā€™ on shows like ā€˜Melissa & Joey,ā€™ but most notably as Simon in the film ā€˜Love, Simonā€™ as well as the spinoff series ā€˜Love, Victor.ā€™ However, it should be mentioned that he did reprise his role as Zach for the ā€˜Lego: Jurassic Worldā€™ video game!

What do you think happened to Zach after ā€˜Jurassic World,ā€™ and would you like to see it happen in a film? Share your comments below, and as always stay tuned to Jurassic Outpost for the latest!

Jurassic Park Survival’s Developer Sold

Jurassic Park Survival developers Saber Interactive are being sold off from their parent company EMBRACER GROUP to become privately owned.

Embracer Group disrupted the industry by buying many developers, only to amass a ton of debt leading to numerous studio closures and lost jobs.

“Saber will become a privately owned company with around 3,500 employees, said the person, who asked not to be identified discussing nonpublic information. The company plans to continue developing a remake of Star Wars: The Knights of the Old Republic, the highly anticipated game that was removed from its previous developer Aspyr Media in 2022.”

The Bloomberg article and subsequent information doesn’t mention the upcoming Jurassic Park video game.

“Saber, the developer of games such as Snowrunner and World War Z, operates studios in several countries, including the US, Portugal and Russia. In addition to making its own original titles, it does work for other developers.”

Jurassic Park Survival came as a surprise announcement late last year, and is promising to be the video game fans of the original movie have always wanted to play. We haven’t been able to reach anybody for a comment regarding the status of the game but we don’t believe it’s time to worry yet.

While the future of the game may indeed be up in the air as the company shuffles and adjusts to the sale, Jurassic Park will be one of the company’s larger titles and one they likely won’t want to let go of.

Likewise, Universal Pictures probably wouldn’t want a third cancellation for this game, knowing its history!

We’ll keep you up to date on all the latest Jurassic Park, World, City, and Saga news. Everything’s Coming Up Milhouse!
